Only complaint is that people waiting to be seated and the hostess can literally watch you go into a bathroom stall because the door opening is right in their faces. Unless you barely open the women's doors and hurry and manually shut it and wait a few seconds before entering a stall . Embarrassing. I'm sure the hostess et al have stories. . My husband and I stopped at this yummy restaurant on our way through Battle Mountain , Nevada and loved it so much we stopped again on our way home. Both times we sat out on the cute patio as we were traveling with our dog, and dogs on a leash were permitted. The friendly waitress brought water for our dog and didn't hesitate to tell us her favorites on the menu. The restaurant was cutely decorated and we will be sure to go there again when traveling through the area. The portions were huge and food was reasonably priced. We stopped in Battle Mountain for gas and found this local restaurant for lunch. Walking in our first impression was how cute and nicely decorated it is giving it a nice ambiance for a lunch date or special occasion. We ordered the steak salad and the loaded steak fries. First of all, I love my soups. I rate my food pretty strongly, and I gotta say, the cabbage soup is SUPERB. I drank at least 4 bowls of it with the bottomless soup and salad meal. Definitely ate my days worth of vegetables with the soup! The service is also just as good as the soup. A kind lady promptly took our orders and made sure to check on us and refill our drinks when needed. Couldn't have asked for more. The teriyaki chicken rice bowl was also pretty good. There was one other table on a Saturday night but it took several minutes for her to take our order and seemed to keep forgetting to bring our salad and soup. When she brought our salads she said "I'll bring your food too. They already make it and it'll get cold". Food was good-I imagine the best you could get in a town like this but I'd recommend avoiding the burger- it was a slim frozen patty. I ordered the 12 ounce ribeye with a baked potato and my wife ordered the veggie pizza. Dinner began with warm rolls and chicken dumpling soup, followed by salad, which was fresh and crisp, then the entree. My steak was nicely flavored and cooked as ordered and the bowls of toppings were offered for the potato. Portions were generous and even the broccoli was cooked just right. What a surprize. Very unexpected for a small town like Battle Mountain. We stayed the night and walked to the restaurant from the Clark Park RV Park. My wife and I were both very impressed with the service and food. I had their basic burger which came with a choice of fries, soup and salad. The burger was cooked perfect and juicy. The vegies on the burger were all fresh. Even the bun was a good weight and texture. The soup and salad were simple but tasty and fresh. My wife had a sea food pasta which she loved and again it was fresh. It came with again soup, salad and a grilled piece of garlic bread. Passing through town and decided to try this place for dinner - parking lot was full, which is always a good sign. Glad we did! Good food, great covered patio for dining with our dog (although it was very windy!), but best of all - friendly and attentive waitresses. They checked on us constantly despite the fact that they were busy with a packed house inside and we were the only people eating outside. Rural Nevada is full of restaurants that meet expectations...very very very low expectations. I travel to most of the rural parts of the state for work and am pretty much stuck eating at these places. In Reno, I have become spoiled...er I mean accustomed to having lots of variety in my meal choices. This is probably one of the best meals I have had outside of Elko in rural Nevada. The sirloin was reasonably priced. It's literally a 3 course meal. Soup and salad are included with all the dinners. And all three were excellent. I could come back for the tomato soup alone. But the sirloin was just spot on and cooked to the rare side, more often than not when I order medium rare it leans to the medium side. This one leaned more to the rare side. Even though we were offered steak sauce, there was no need. The baked potato was old school. Naked and then sides of sour cream, butter and chives put in the middle of the table. We sat in the bar because the baseball game was on and they have a good number of televisions. The whole inside of this place is really nice compared to the simple exterior. Even with the TV screens about, the atmosphere isn't the traditional Nevada bar...it's just a step up from that feeling. Our servers were friendly and not too attentive. So a quick tip for those who are traveling through Nevada by car and are considering if they should eat here... This would be a good choice for a meal if your schedule dictates being in Battle Mountain when it's meal time. Dinners are filling and a good value for the price.
