Wear comfortable shoes and come prepared for the experience. There are wall to wall vendors with a ton of people squeezing through the pathway. They have an area where live music is played. Food trucks are setup in this same area if you just need that. I say that because the restaurant vendors along the main walk more than satisfy any craving you could be having. There are stands with cocktails/beer and they even have a spiked bubble tea! Everything is really official. I will say bring cash. Some of the vendors take cards, and there are two ATMs that I counted, but they kept giving me error codes. It took multiple tries to get my actual cash. I'm not sure if this is the usual practice so beware. Parking was $10, but given the location free parking is definitely in walking distance. All in all a great time.

If you're not too adventurous with your food, taste it from friend or else you'll be out $7 - $10 for something you don't like. Or, head to the area with the tables where they have about 3 -4 food trucks. If you see sweets while you're deciding what entree to get, I'd advise you to just buy it and keep it with you (unless it's ice cream) because they can sell out! I, unfortunately, missed out on the Vietnamese coffee ice cream that Mason's Creamery was selling but got there in time to try the jackfruit ice cream. They also have some craft type tables with trinkets and even the typical Asian stuffed animal toys. They open the night market at 5 PM but I would suggest going between 6:30 PM and 9 PM because the food starts to run out and you'll get there before the sun sets (easier to decide what food to buy) and before the crowds come. Parking is a bit of a struggle, but if you drive around you'll be able to find something within 3-5 blocks of the area. My friend and I also took the rail to tower city and then split an Uber or Lyft to the Night Market which ended up being about $7-$8 one way. If you're like me and wake up the next day wishing you had more food from last night, bring a plastic bag or grocery bag and buy food to bring home. Now if only I could take home a quart of that taro or Thai tea ice cream from Mason's Creamery...

This is a work of love from the local Church community and the Greek American community, depending on volunteers. The lines are long, but worth it, but it gives you a one in the year (four, I guess, to be exact) chance to really enjoy a lot of great food, music, and crafts. Their saganaki is opa!-certified, the lamb shank is to die for - recommend to pair with the orzo or lemon roasted potatoes - and their desserts are out of this world - someone needs to drag me away from the galatkoboureko tray or I think I could eat it all. Over the years, she visited this establishment multiple times through school-organized field trips. Her earlier experiences seemed educational and age-appropriate, but her final visit in 8th grade was traumatizing and completely unacceptable. On her first visit, she was a young child, excited to explore history. She remembers playing with wooden toys and engaging in fun, interactive activities. It was a harmless and enjoyable experience. On her second visit in 4th grade, the experience was still fairly lighthearted--she milked cows, churned butter, and watched glassblowers at work. It seemed like a continued effort to connect children with the past in a safe and engaging way. But her third visit in 8th grade took a shocking and horrifying turn. During this "A Fugitive's Path: Escape on the Underground Railroad" experience, my sister and her classmates were: Placed in shackles and treated like slaves Forced to simulate escaping through the Underground Railroad Exposed to the sound of blank bullets being shot into the air Surrounded by the cracking of whips Yelled at and intimidated by adults playing the roles of slave catchers or owners This wasn't education--it was trauma packaged as a learning experience. As her older sibling, hearing her describe the fear, humiliation, and confusion she felt during this simulation was gut-wrenching. I cannot understand how any school district, let alone an educational institution trusted with children's development, would approve of such a psychologically scarring experience. How could you slowly build a relationship with this place over several years, only to subject children--still minors--to a reenactment of slavery that includes the sounds of gunfire and whips? What kind of message does that send? What makes anyone believe that this is appropriate or effective? Let me be very clear: no child should ever have to go through this. Teaching about the horrors of slavery is important--but traumatizing children in the process is not education. It's irresponsible and deeply damaging. To the school district and the organizers of this program: What made you think this was okay? You crossed a line that should never be crossed. You failed these students. As a sibling, I'm heartbroken. And as a community member, I'm calling for serious accountability and immediate re-evaluation of what is considered "educational." This should never happen again--to any child, in any school, anywhere. This event took place in 2013-2014 school year however her trauma is still valid in 2025!!!!!!!!

The Alex Theater is located inside The 9 Hotel and you do not have to be a hotel guest to attend a show at Alex Theater. Valet your car (it's just the easiest parking) and simply walk straight in to the elevators and click the call button for Alex Theater. The Alex Theater has a full bar (no snacks) and can seat about 100 people comfortably between the leather recliners and high-top tables that are sometimes assembled. The programming at the Alex is always five-stars. Check their website regularly and you'll see evenings for drag, live bands, magic shows, film events and more. I want to give kudos to the staff. A very annoying, obnoxiously drunk couple was next to us and ruining our experience. At intermission, we let the staff know and they discretely took care of the situation. The Alex is a classy place, and if I wanted a rowdy night out, I'd be at a college bar. A night out at the Alex Theater is always a fun experience and I can't recommend it enough!

Coming up are Indigo Shibori Dyeing workshop, how to make Sourdough Bread, Abba Night, various bands, and more summer and holiday markets (vendors under tents).
