It's a lovely old building which has a quaint story behind it of needing to be rescued from the threat of closure in the 1970's. The staff were incredibly helpful in the run-up to the event and on the day itself, including the bar manager who made sure everyone got their glass of bubbly at the right moment. The Great Hall has fabulous high ceilings and old fashioned beams and a fireplace along one wall, with loads of room for a sit-down meal for 80 people and then dancing afterwards. The only small draw-back is the close proximity of the Berkhamsted Saturday market, which prevents the use of the front entrance for photos, although this gave us a good excuse to drag everyone to Berkhamsted castle for photos after the ceremony.

They would come to school and when you knew you were off the hall for something other than assembly it was the most exciting thing! They were colourful, professional and have great energy. The shows always revolved around books and literature so it was very educational as well as fun. Kudos to them because they're still going strong and, I am sure, still bringing great joy to many children every day.

The Alban Arena is a lovely small theatre, showing a variety of different things - films, comedy…read moreacts, drama, musicals, pantos etc. They do not have their own car park however there is one directly behind it, with free parking in the evenings. I went to see a play here last year and found the setting quite intimate, even with be on the upper tier. Although it was difficult to hear the actors at times. This may however have been the actors fault and not the sound system of the theatre as when I went and saw Jimmy Carr I had no problem hearing him. When I last visited I was several months pregnant and when booking was able to choose my seats (near to exit and at end of row for constant toilet breaks!!!) and the theatre had no problem with accommodating me. There is also a cafe/restaurant attached to the theatre available for pre or post theatre dining.

It's a massive dog friendly park (any areas that aren't are very clearly marked) and has a lot of interesting aspects to explore. This isn't just your normal park as it also has a memorial and various art sculptures in the park plus we passed a small playground at one point all keeping for quite the interesting walk. My friend was telling me they used to have sheep grazing! I'm not sure if it was just the time of year I went or if they have been permanently removed, but no sheep were to be had in March. It's big on festivals in the summer apparently with a nice open air pavilion type theater outdoor area.

The club is also available for hire at a reasonable price and with a bar included. The hall is nothing special, pretty much a standard hall with tables and chairs that can be set out, but if the lights are turned down and a DJ is hired there have been some quite good nights had in there. There used to be an older football club on the site but it was burnt down in some sort of 'mysterious' accident. Probably for the best, as it essentially doubled as an underage nightclub!
