Do not use their carpet center. We got new carpet through them. They ordered the wrong carpet without consulting us or asking us which one we wanted. Then when we asked to get the right carpet they told us no and that we can take the wrong carpet and get $250 back or we can get HALF of the full order back to go elsewhere. Are you kidding me? We have been battling with them for 24 days now and this carpet is for our daughter's nursery, which we can't set up because they keep jerking us around. I purchased a water heater and phyn system. A little over $3000. Not bad but could be better. Local installer (not DRF) came to install it and said I would have to pay another $654 for install. I told them I paid for everything with Home Depot. Get the extra money from Home Depot. Home Depot refused. They said it was an estimate and I would have to pay the difference. I told them that an extra $654 was too much so I would send back the phyn for a refund. They said OK and they would give me a credit of $795. I sent the system back, at my own expense, and I never received a credit. I only received excuses. I have receipts for the total purchase before the dispute. So I paid approx $2000 for the install on a water heater that was probably less than $1000? Rheem performance plus, gas, 9 yr warranty. Never again. Done using retail services. I went to Home Depot to buy a Milwaukee tool as a gift for my boyfriend, along with some plants. I have gone to this Home Depot many times and for the majority I usually have a pretty good time there and am able to find the things I need. There have been some occasions where I don't find what I'm looking for but then I usually talk to someone working there and figure out where I can get what I'm looking for. Staff at this store are usually extremely helpful. Also, the store is pretty well-organized and clean. And in addition, they have a great Garden Center. Is there anything more adult than buying a refrigerator? I mean. The measuring, review reading, feature finding, finish deciding, price checking and delivery scheduling. Not to mention emptying the old to then fill the new. Appliance shopping is exhausting! While I wanted to shop more local than Home Depot. My kitchen had other thoughts. It had to be single door, had to be a certain size... and the only feature that was a MUST was a water dispenser. (Which with a single door fridge is hard to find.) Alas, Home Depot had it. The stainless steel fridge of my dreams... errr... or rather my kitchen's dreams. Popped online. Snagged it in my cart. Scheduled the first possible day they could deliver. (A week later.) Added that they would be taking my old hunk of junk fridge away with them. (An additional $25.) Added that they would be needing to get the water hooked up to the fridge.-- cause nobody's got time for that. (An additional $25.) Popped in my credit card info. Painless. Then the day before the delivery, I got a text telling me a window of when it would be delivered. (2-6pm. Which, let me point out that is about eight hours less of a timeframe then what my local cable company gives me when my internet is acting up.) I got email updates as they approached. I got a call when they were one stop away. Two fellas in masks came during the 2-6pm window. They had to take my front door off to get the fridge in, but man-- they were speedy! They gave me tips on cleaning it. Told me how to get the water and ice going. Put my front door back on. Took my old fridge away. BOOM. In and out in about 20 minutes. This was a painless adulting excursion, thanks Home Depot! read more

The customer service is always great at this Home Depot location. My partner and I visited last weekend to pick up materials for a couple of small projects around the house, and needed to get some blinds cut to fit the window. We were greeted when it was clear we weren't sure where to find what we were looking for, and a friendly employee - Henry - was kind enough to cut our blinds for us. They also have a nice Garden Center with lots of healthy looking plants, which we're looking forward to visiting on our next trip. read more

As someone said it's a Home Depot, just be prepared to hunt for things, not many people know where stuff is unless it's a well used known item. And if your in a specialty area be prepared to wait. I was the only one in the store seems like asked 3 different people finally got the specialist and asked my question and he said we don't have installers and provided no other information. I bought the wrong cover plate for my bathroom fan light. I didn't have my receipt and they refused to exchange the ones I bought( unopened) for the correct one which was more expensive! WTF! Just don't take anything back without a receipt cuz they will NOT take it back or exchange it!!! read more

Home Depot is such a nightmare, it's taken many cluster f's but I've finally determined that while many of the employees are nice, it's a mess I'm not dealing with anymore. We ordered a tub and tub surround mid January that was to be delivered 1/31. First, the tracking info online was never available. 1/30 rolls around and I called to inquire how this tub was going to travel overnight from whatever mysterious place it was beginning its journey (because the system wouldn't even provide that tracking info) to Cedar Rapids so we could pick it up by 1/31. The employee I talked to was friendly and assured me it would likely come with the 4 am delivery the morning of 1/31 and she'd leave a note letting receiving know we were eager to get it. Next morning, 1/31 rolls around. We even gave them hours to unload, I call at 11, it's there but it's not unloaded. It might not be unloaded until tomorrow, or tonight at the earliest, but he assures me he's going to let them know we are waiting for it. I call again at 4, to see if we can pick it up. The phone gets passed around and finally I'm told it's not there. Which was weird because as far as we knew, it was there this morning and bathtubs rarely vanish into thin air these days. She finally she agreed to go check with receiving (brilliant, radical idea that maybe could've happened 5 hours ago?) After fifteen minutes on hold, someone hung up on me. I tried calling back for the next hour, to find out if we need to find a different tub in stock at 6 PM. I finally get ahold of someone at the pro desk (shout out to Don, the only person at Home Depot that gave a crap) who had to walk to the customer service counter and find out what in the apocalyptic hell happened to prevent EVERYONE from answering the phone. Never pressed him for answers because he was nice and doing someone else's job for them. He confirms that the tub was not there (he even checked with receiving AND, get this, was offering to UNLOAD it from the trailer if it was there two problem-solving thoughts that had never dawned on the other two employees.) So finally my husband goes to find a new tub at 7 PM, which we unfortunately bought from the Crap Depot , as well. He tried to use a 15% off coupon they sent us, (probably for swiping our cards there more than any other idiot at their store this year ) and they refused to let us use this pathetic coupon, because it had eXpiReD one day ago. You'd think after making things 500x more complicated than it should've been they would have honored it anyways just for wasting our time and money. The "sorry for your troubles" was much better though we'll treasure that insincere apology for years. read more

The entry and exit to the parking lot is a little bit weird as there's a couple of one way thoroughfares going into the contractor pickup area, but otherwise it's a pretty standard Home Depot. read more

I went in trying to find a connector and the first person who helped me good guy, very kind he directed me to the electric person that works for the electricity department or whatever it's called and I showed a picture of what I was looking for and I was trying to explain to him what I needed it for. It's understandable and I understand if you guys don't carry it. I can respect that I was looking all over town for it no luck. But in the middle of me telling him what I need it for he strongly said " I DONT CARE" I know you guys job is to help and provide customer service and it's not your fault you guys don't carry it there's nothing you can do. I wish I could select 0 stars. Hands down worst Home Depot experience in my life. Asked for help with lumber, and was stared at blankly until I repeated myself enough times that they started helping. "Helping" is honestly an understatement, though, as when I (a 5ft tall 100lb woman) received the large, heavy 4ft x 8ft piece of lumber, I was not offered any help in getting it to the front. The two associate men watched me struggle to push the cart down the aisle, and did not offer any assistance at checkout to help me get the wood outside. However, once I finally did get the wood to the car, it was barely too large to fit in my vehicle, so I thought I could have them hold it until later so my friend with a large van could grab it. Come to find out, after they took the merchandise AND my receipt proving I paid the $30 with the intent of "putting it on hold", they told me to have a nice day and proceeded to re-shelve my purchased merchandise. When my friend went to pick up the wood, she was told "we put it back, so you just need to hope its still there". Long story short, next time you go to Home Depot, don't. They will take your money and re-shelve the product. read more

After washer was improperly installed and water damaged 3 floors of the home, Mgr Alan was anything but helpful. Utterly disappointing customer service. Did nothing to make the situation right. Over $10,000 in damage to the home... flooring, ceiling, drywall, insulation, trim, carpet... ruined on each of 3 floors. Sad excuse for management and "customer service." A couple of weeks ago, we went in for a lawn mower (New house, yay!). It's been years since an experience like this at a "big box" home improvement store. The gentleman in the front end was very nice. They already had some ready-to-go models if we wanted one. We went to check for something else and employees were helpful all over the store. Didn't walk all over creation to find what we were looking for. Checkers were pleasant as well. Home Depot has them asking a lot of questions and pushing the warranty on everything as well. Even so, they were so helpful and pleasant it wasn't annoying like that can be. read more

This is the WORST Home Depot I have ever been inside. The people who work here - especially the gray haired woman are the Service counter are completely useless. She no interest in helping you solve your problem. Also, when you walk around the store the employees are too busy talking about their weekend plans to answer your questions or even acknowledge you when you politely say, "Excuse me, I need some help." If I could give a negative rating in this review I would. My brother in law had a HD card. He passed away on December 12, 2022. We received a letter from HD stating that there was suspected fraud on his card. We didn't even realize he had a card. His card was used the week AFTER his death for almost $1,700.00. Of which almost $700.00 appeared to be used at their gift card mall. We contacted them to verify that it was fraud and they said they would investigate. All of a sudden we get a letter that said they determined that it was not fraud and the he had benefit of the purchases. tell me how that happens when he passed away 4 or 5 days before the charges were incurred. We tried several times to get the charges removed to no avail. Now we have a letter from a collection agency stating this amount was sent for collection and must be paid. Home Depot you really dropped the ball on this one and I will never set foot in this store again. read more

Initially, I found Home Depot more difficult to find what I needed until fairly recently. The staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. It is also the only DIY store that will cut your wood to whatever size you want, thread pipe and I'm guessing they offer many other services that I haven't taken advantage of. I will still go to Menards and Lowes, only because they have certain products exclusive to them, that I use. 4 Stars to Home Depot. read more

I can't even begin to describe my experience at one of your store locations. I purchased thousands of $$$ in project material in the past month, only to find out there was an extreme drop in lumber prices. When I contacted customer service I was left on hold for 25 min, bounced between 4 different people, and hung up on. When I was finally able to speak to an "assistant manager" I was treated very disrespectfully and told they were unwilling to do anything. I explained that I am well within the 90 return policy and I could easily return a truck load of wood, making them have to scan them all back in and then repurchase all of it - but that would be a hassle all around and I would prefer to make it easier on everyone. I was told that's "well within my rights" but they were unwilling to match the price because of their 14 day (!) match policy. Then he told me "How far back should I go?!? Any time?" 90 days is the answer - that's your return policy. I am currently going through the same situation at Lowe's because I bought wood there too and they are fixing the problem. I explained that to the manager and was told I am within my right to take my future business there. DONE and DONE. When you make it impossible for your customers and treat them with such disrespect, no one will want to give your their business. And your wood is sub-par at best - filled with splinters and knots. But Home Depot is more of a construction wear house Lowes seems cleaner along with Menard's but Home Depot is a little closer to my house. 7/14/2018 Went to inquire about new carpet and installation.I waited in line while the HOME DEPOT employee in the carpet department helped another customer. I waited 10 minutes and she never even acknowledged I was there. I thought maybe she could of said ,"thank you for waiting. I will be with you soon." She did not say that or ask for additional help. I came back after shopping( About another 10 minutes) and she was still with the same customer. I decided to check out. I asked my cashier, " is there someone else who could help me in carpet? "She said she didn't know because she did not know what managers were working. I asked If I could make an appointment and she told me to call back. My basement was flooding and I was having a hard time finding a pump that would fit in a 10" sump pit. I went into this store and bought a utility pump. It quit working after a couple days and I returned it. The girl in returns was nice and she gave me the option of cash or putting money back onto my card. She also apologized for the inconvenience. Pretty good customer service there. I had decided to call around to local stores after looking online for one. Terry in Plumbing talked to me and actually seemed to care about my situation where as other stores, not so much. In fact, I had ordered a sump pump months ago from Menards and they never sent it and never refunded my money. I may have to sue them to get it back. Terry really deserves 6 stars ***** because he gave me the best customer service EVER! He told me which pump that size had the highest ratings. He suggested I take pictures of the set up to bring in and he asked me lots of questions to gain information he needed to help me. He empathized with me over my issue with Menards and my flooded basement and complimented me on staying cool and collected. He gave me great advice on removing the old pump and connecting the new and told me to call him if I had issues. I had some troubles with getting the pipe off the old pump and he had me bring the old pump with the pipe stuck to it into the store. He measured the base of the old pump and the base of the new model I had bought and informed me there was an inch difference, so I may have issues. I had described to him what the connectors were like for my pipes, two rubber ones with clamps and a black plastic one in between those. He said if I could not get them to make up the difference to just put a brick in the bottom under it. I ended up doing that and it worked! He anticipated issues I may have and solved my problems of installation before they even occurred. He even disposed of my old pump for me so I didn't have to carry it back out of the store. You cannot ask for better customer service than that. He deserves a raise!!! I asked him if he is a plumber and he told me he is a retired engineer and he likes to help people. The rest of the store needs to get their act together. EVERY time I called I got transferred to the wrong department. I even chose the extension for plumbing and somehow got someone else. If you can deal with getting transferred a few times though, this store is still well worth the visit. Today their credit/ debit card machines were down and I didn't have enough cash with me. They had to call in the payment. If you have any issues with plumbing and are doing it yourself, go see Terry at Home Depot on 1st Ave in CR. He will do right by you. Make sure you tell the manager what a good job he did too. We want to keep good employees who help us at these stores. read more

They put an item on sale for Memorial Day weekend. I called on Monday to learn they were out of stock, but would get more on a truck on Tuesday. I call on Tuesday to learn that they would get more on a truck on Wednesday. I called on Wednesday to learn they would be back in stock Wednesday afternoon. I drove the 20 miles on Wednesday afternoon--none in stock and getting nothing on Wednesday. No, they would not give a rain check. Called on Thursday, multiple times, still not in stock. Called on Friday--now in stock and NOT ON SALE. Counted on my cell phone--8 phone calls over 5 days and a wasted trip. What a rip off. read more

I have been completely taken advantage of and mistreated since my first encounter with my local Home Depot. I bought a grill from them the week before Mother's Day. I was told it could be assembled and ready in 48 hours. This put it at Thursday. I requested a pick up on Saturday instead because I did not want my mom to see her gift so early in the week as this was all I was getting her. I came back Saturday after work and they brought the grill up to pick up...still in the box. I was furious! They looked up in the system and couldn't figure out why the grill was not assembled. They said they would assemble it after the holiday. This was unacceptable. The customer service lady was extremely helpful. She went around and around the store trying to find the same grill on display for me to take. After about 40 minutes they brought a grill up from the back and loaded it into my truck. When I got home, I unloaded it and thought that it was all over. Wrong. The next morning I went out to bring it around to the front of the house and noticed it was dented on top, covered in dust and the lid would not close correctly because of a bent grate on the inside of the grill. I was so embarrassed to give this grill as a gift. I called the store and was told I would be sent a form to fill out to have the grill replaced along with $75 back for the inconvenience. (The grill was $180!) okay. I accepted. I went to the store and was refunded $50 and told that's all they originally said. I asked for a manager and the associate refused to call one and said I should have "my ducks in a row better than I do. Finally, another associate called a manager for me. The manager then said I declined the offer to a replacement grill and he's no longer offering it. So...we're stuck with a broken grill. I wish I would have went to else where when the grill was not ready. Or better yet, went somewhere else to begin with. I will not be shopping at Home Depot again. read more
