I've been to many Home Depot stores and I've learned that not all offer the same level of customer service. After two visits to this store I concluded that this one is well below average in this area. No major problems, but the little irritations added up. Where to start? As a first time visitor to this store I had trouble finding the entrance (see pictures below). The EXIT was very well marked and when I parked there and tried to enter, I was told that I needed to walk a couple hundred feet to the left to enter. So I moved my vehicle to the other end of the building, then walked a bit to the right to get a cart. On my third try I found a cart the didn't pull to one side and had 4 wheels that rolled freely. Both times that I went to order paint, no was staffing that area. Both times I searched nearby aisles for help and when I didn't find help, I went to the front of the store to have an announcement made that 'help was needed in the paint department.' When help finally arrived the worker was friendly and helpful. I think the problem here was that the paint department was understaffed. As I shopped for other items on my list, a Home Depot Services staff person approached me 6 times, during my 2 visits, to try to sell me a service. It wasn't until the 6th time that this person stopped (after I said this was the 6th time you've tried to sell me Home Depot services and I am still NOT INTERESTED. So, nothing awful, just a bunch of small irritations that made me think management didn't care enough about customer satisfaction. To be fair, some staff members were very helpful. read more

Before I even finished checking out, a lovely young lady working at customer service suggested that I pull my car up to the door and she would help me load the bags. I am a senior so I appreciated her help. I believe her name was Gisella. She loaded up my car and totally refused a tip. She just said "we help each other". After 2 calls to get the charge removed both over a half hour long the 5th person to tell me it was handled I asked for a supervisor who transferred me to someone else now tells me I have to go to the store to get my credit and refund even though I ordered it online and was continuously lied to. I am very disappointed in Home Depot's promise to deliver policy. We bought appliances with the understanding our delivery time would be between 12:30 - 4:30 pm. I received no communication and decided to call the customer service number around 4:15 pm that we were given. The woman could not be any kinder in helping us. We were #13 on the list and I was told they still had 2 more deliveries. This is now 5pm. Needless to say, no delivery was made. The solution was for us now to miss work and they would try a different day. We were supposed to hear back and never got a call back. I will be canceling this order and will definitely think twice before ordering other appliances from them in the future. read more

irma (appliances) and gary (plumbing) in the newton, nj location provided assistance in solving some plumbing tool issues that i had. both were knowledgeable, but more importantly from a customer perspective, they were patient, accommodating, instructive, & professional. they allowed me to babble on about what i thought i knew and then proceeded to direct me to the perfect solutions to my plumbing crisis. above all, they were kind and humorous and extraordinarily human. whether or not home depot corporate is aware - those things matter. read more

So I'm posting here as Home Depot (dot com) wants to keep deleting my review as it has a complaint against their service. I ordered a patio set over 6 weeks ago.. it was shipped 2 weeks after ordering. Its now a month later and I never received it. Ive spent HOURS on the phone with customer service and nobody knows where my order is! Everytime I call I get a different response. A promised delivery date has come and gone,, I even called the delivery company directly and guess what?? they never received it! It's still at HD warehouse for the last month of being told it was shipped, and not to mention, my card charged!! Now I'm fighting for a refund as they're demanding the item has to be returned before I can get a refund. How can I return something I don't have??? I've requested the order to be cancelled three times now and one girl said she cancelled it (she didnt), one said she'll TRY to request it (what???), and another said I can't cancel as it's pending delivery. This is an ok Home Depot Store. The floor layout is ponderous and makes no sense even the Store entrance is confusing. Don't bother asking anyone any questions because odds are you know way more than they do. I know I shouldn't have a 'favorite' Home Depot, but if I was making a list of my 'favorite' Home Depots, this one would be last on the list. I stopped in here today, only because it happened to be the closest one to where I was at the time. I needed to pick up some lawn stuff for the fall cleanup-fertilizer, seed, etc. Now, I know where everything is, or should be, in this store, but what a friggin' mess. Fertilizer and seed out, mixed up, no prices displayed...and you'd think just MAYBE there would be someone in the area to help (not just me, but the other 10 people back in the garden section)...well you'd be wrong. Not a soul. I agree with the other reviewers...it just seems like no one that works there actually wants to work there. I go to Home Depot when it's convenient and/or I know I need something I can't get in my local hardware store, but I think this is probably the last time I will shop at this location...the ones in Pine Brook, East Hanover, and Rockaway are all much better locations. read more

Unfortunately, I believed that all Home Depot stores treat their customers the same way. Wrong! When I lived in Wayne I shopped at the Home Depot there and I have to admit that I was very pleased with their service. Nope, not the case at this store! I waited 15 minutes for a sales associate to help me in one department. Believe it or not, when this person came to help me, and I asked questions, he responded by saying "I don't work in this department, but I'll help you if I can!" What? So why would someone who knew nothing about the area I needed help with be sent to offer assistance? Obviously, this store did not compare to the Wayne area one. I had made a reservation to rent a lawn aerator for Sunday afternoon Oct 2 and had received confirmation that my credit card was charged $150. An hour before I was to pick it up I got a text stating that they were sorry and the aerator would not be available. I planned my entire Sunday afternoon for someone to assist me with the aeration. However, Home Depot could not give me a proper excuse as to why the aerator was not available. The rental center has extremely poor customer service and I don't plan on shopping at that Home Depot in the near future. read more

I purchased a new washing machine from The Home Depot 1 1/2 years ago. I have had nothing but problems with it. The same parts have been replaced twice already and are currently on order for the third time. The whole electronic board, the lid lock assembly. The tub has been replaced. Thank god I have the protection plan n it or I would be stuck for all of these costs. Dan Mark Appliance Repair in West Caldwell are the Authorized Repair Center for these repairs. All 3 times they have responded for service , they have had to order these parts. Leaving me without a washing machine for 2 weeks each time before they return. I have had all good experiences at the Parsippany Home Depot, until today. My very well-behaved chocolate lab accompanies me every time I go to HD, and she has in all of the last 3 states I've lived in. Today I was stopped at the door and told (in a very rude manner) that this specific location has changed their policy to only allow service dogs. Lost my business Parsippany Home Depot. Since becoming a homeowner last year, I now spend a great deal of time in my local home depot - I'm sure most homeowners feel the same! Over the past year I have painted each room in the house, took a bathroom to the studs and made it functional and beautiful, re-floored and painted my basement, carpeted and painted a den area - all with materials from my local home depot and with the assistance of their wonderful staff. I also have bought mulch and plants for my garden and also Christmas lights - needless to say I am a loyal customer and I love going to Home Depot, it makes me feel inspired to fix up my house. Most recently I have been in the process of remodeling my kitchen which included taking it completely to the studs - again much of the materials were purchased at my local home depot. I placed an order of LG appliances and received great service from the sales person at the Montville location, he was thoughtful and explained everything very well. However, when it came to the delivery of the appliances this is my one bad experience, I was unable to be at my house the slated time for the delivery and unable to move the appointment, so I entrusted my mom with receiving the order. My mom signed for the order - she told me it was a rainy day and the men moved quickly to bring the appliances to the garage. She however did not go and look at the order after the delivery people brought the form to my mom to sign and she signed it. She said the men were very nice. When I got home from work I did not look at the order I figured it was all there. My boyfriend called me when my contractors were ready to install the appliances and asked where my dishwasher was, I said its in the garage, then they said no its not! Shortly after searching for the dishwasher we reached out to the delivery group and to home depot on separate occasions - all of the individuals we spoke to were very nice and I can tell they did the best they could to get answers, especially Nora from the Montville Home Depot. I was informed yesterday that I would be responsible for buying a new dishwasher since my mom signed off for the appliance delivery. I asked if there was anything else that can be done, but it seems there was not. My ask of Home Depot would be to look into the matter a bit more, I just think someone forgot to drop off the dishwasher with the order. I am a loyal customer who does enjoy shopping at the store and want to continue to do so, I would love a discount on a new dishwasher since I have already paid once for it. Getting returns here are the hardest in the area. Maybe they have the most returns. I don't know. All I know is that it's hard to return stuff here than anywhere else. And, they are supposed to take them back. I mentioned how Bernie Marcus (one of the founders of Home Depot) had said that they have to take back all returns. (He said it in their autobiographical book.) The employees said that's not true and what does Bernie Mac has anything to do with this. I didn't understand what they were talking about until later when I realized they thought I was talking about the comedian. lol. Prices here are better than East Hanover but Montville is right next door which has the best prices so I just drive 5 more minutes and buy from there. At Montville, they will also USUALLY treat you much, much better although I admit the last time I was there, when I got there at closing, the manager wasn't all that patient with me even though I bought about $500-1000 worth of stuff. I know it has to be hard for these employees to go to work and deal with customers right now. However. We waited for someone to "help" us with patio furniture. It took a half hour and when someone did come over they were not helpful. We finally realized we had to go to the "customer service" desk to order the set we were interested in. One would think they would be forthcoming about the fact that prices and shipping/ delivery fees are much different in the store vs. the website. You'd be wrong. Very frustrating experience at this store as well as the one in East Hanover. Social distancing seems to not be a thing in these stores. They make sure you're wearing a mask and that's it. If I could leave 0 starts I would. The one star I guess I must leave will be for Sharon (hope I spelt your name right) at customer service. She was the only one who actually seemed apologetic to a frustrating experience. We placed an order last week for patio materials to be delivered on Saturday. The window was 6am to 9pm on SATURDAY. 6AM- we were up, cars out of the driveway- ready. Ten am my husband checks the status of the order on his phone. It is marked DELIVERED. WHAT?!?!!? Nothing was delivered, no one ever showed up. I called the 800 number. First she tells me that yes it shows delivered. I said no one was here, we have been up, nothing has been delivered. She puts me on hold and then says "It shows no access". At this point I'm now fuming. She transfers me directly to the store. First I'm told it has been delivered, then I'm told he had no access then I'm told the driver hasn't been there yet, he will be there at 3 to pick up our order and be by us at 3:30. How Home Depot can I get some many different stories for one order. Lets continue. At 3:05 I call, go through the situation yet again and ask if the driver is there to pick up our order. Not only was the driver not there, could not be reached but now I'm am being told our order was never picked up- even though multiple times we were told our order was delivered or attempted to be delivered. Funny how that can be marked when the order never even made it onto a truck! Now I'm done. We were then told that the trucking company they use was not picking up the phone and wouldn't deliver on weekends. *insert head exploding here* Why would you allow us to place an order to be delivered with such a wide window ON a Saturday then. Sharon was pleasant and very apologetic about the entire situation but now I'm beyond annoyed and have her cancel our order. We gave our business to Lowes. Story over...NOPE. Monday at 8am I get a phone call saying he is trying to deliver our order from Home Depot but there is a snag - he said - and I kept the message - if you don't call back I'll just drop the order off in 30 minutes. THE ORDER THAT WAS CANCELED AND REFUNDED? Not two minutes later I get another call from an associate at Home Depot asking what was going on with our order. I told our situation again- he said the driver had marked it delivered because he wanted to get paid. How is Home Depot ok with doing business like this. I guess he didn't expect us to cancel the order. SORRY you didn't FEEL like working the weekend but then you should have just said - will deliver on Monday. Home Depot, FIND A NEW DELIVERY SYSTEM. 3 months ago we ordered a Samsung washer from Home Depot Parsippany - it came in a timely manner the guys removed our old washer for an additional fee. As they were pulling our old unit out water started flying everywhere but i didn't think much of it. The new washer worked beautifully. 1 month ago our dryer went too, and instead of heading into the store we took advantage of a cyber Monday deal and ordered one through Home Depot online to be delivered. The earliest delivery we could get from the end of November was this past Thursday. I requested a morning delivery and when they called Wednesday to confirm my delivery, told me they were coming between 12:30 & 4:30. I told them I didn't have someone available to greet them for the delivery, which is why I needed morning hours -- they told me I could not change the time unless I wanted to wait til mid January for the new dryer. I asked why they didn't give me the requested time and was told that their routes are created for efficiency, so that is why they ignored this request. My father, who just had surgery on his Achilles' tendon a week earlier, agreed to come and wait for the delivery. On Thursday they called at 2 to tell us they were 30 minutes away. An hour and a half later they showed up due to "traffic" and told us that they couldn't hook up the steam element bc we don't have a working hot water valve, and that the person who installed our washer just hooked everything into the cold water feed. We told them to just make sure the basic dryer function works for now and that we would call the store we purchased the washer from to come and fix the damage they caused. I know they caused this damage bc of the fact that we had hot water running to our old washer - it was old enough that you could leave the lid open while the water filled the drum and it was always hot water before they replaced it. We couldn't check this on the new washer bc the lid locks before water comes out - so we were unawAre of this issue entirely until the dryer was delivered. Well my husband and I just went to use the new dryer for the first time today and it won't even turn on. When we opened the hatch there was a bunch of paper and plastic in the tumbler so we know that they DIDN'T EVEN TEST to MAKE SURE IT WORKED!!! So now we have more of a mess than we started with, and we paid for all of it. When we called Home Depot we were told that they couldn't help us bc the department we needed were gone for the day! And on top of all that when my father was leaving the house his scooter to keep his leg elevated got stuck on a hose the installation team left in our driveway!! He may now need a second surgery bc of their complete negligence! My husband and I are appalled by the way this happened and the way we were handled by a company we have spent thousands of dollars with. Nobody seems eager to help us bc the store blamed the online team and vice versa -- so we are disputing all charges and hope that gives them some sense of urgency. We had an appalling experience. Do not use them to save money, it won't save you anything and will cost you more than you think. read more

If you want to carry heavy pieces of wood while employees stare at you and want to be made to feel like an ignorant schmuck in the process, then the lumber section of this location is the place for you. I have shopped in this section twice over the past several months, and I heard things like "you don't even know what (insert type and/or size of wood here) is?" And "I told them that is what they needed, they didn't listen." This was when we were given a suggestion and taken over to another employee. This employee proceeded to insult my favorite team, which I would have just accepted as playful banter if he hadn't given us the wrong size piece of wood. All the while he was busy concentrating on explaining why Ezekial Elliot shouldn't be suspended. He then took his tip and watched as me and my 5'2 120lb Aunt struggled to get the wood in the car. Maybe this was the exception and this type of service is not the norm. Regardless, every time I have left that section so far I did so wanting to give whoever helped me a kick to the balls. read more

Customer service leaves much to be desired. I came in with a pipe looking for someone to help me replace the pipe. I often ask for help to match the size, because, not being a professional, I can easily make a mistake, and I do not want to come back because of wrong sizing. So I go to the plumbing section, and there is a woman scanning some items. I ask her if she can help me. She just says, No. I thought maybe she just paused to tell me where I could find someone, but no. She was done speaking with me. So I asked her, who can help me? She says, someone with a full apron. I prompt her again, Do you know where I can find someone with a full apron? Her answer, Just walk around! and she waves her hand at me. So I look around for someone, and an older gentleman is kind enough to help me find someone who can help me. Unfortunately the guy he finds is a little bit of a fool. I ask this new guy to help me get a pipe to replace the one in my hand, and he barks really quickly, Yeah! You just need to match the size! No really, Sherlock? So I ask him to match the size for me. The whole time he starts explaining to me how plumbing works, as if I don't know anything about plumbing. I just wanted to pull him aside and say, Son, I know a lot about plumbing, I just need you to be so kind as to match this pipe. This is the most annoying Home Depot I've been to (and considering how bad some Home Depot's can be, then you know this is annoying). read more

All of the reviewers are spot on. I only come here as convenience if I'm shopping at ShopRite or eating at Noodle Chu. They don't seem to stock enough or the right parts. I prefer the other larger one down the street. For instance, if you wanted a PVC joint, they only have a small section for all sizes and shapes. The one down the street has a full aisle dedicated to them and has many sizes. read more

This Home Depot in Parsippany is just plain bad. I've experienced nothing but trouble with a recent dishwasher purchase - and that's being very generous. First, the sales clerk had me order a bunch of unnecessary parts for the installation. Second, they were the wrong parts. Third, the installation crew told us to order additional parts, but they were the wrong ones too - so no installation and they didn't even offer to reschedule. Then we hired a private plumbing company to install the dishwasher and he finally helped us get the correct parts (through Home Depot, no less). Finally, over six weeks later the dishwasher was finally installed, but it cost an additional $750!! I went into the store and personally spoke to Mark Malanga, the Operations Manager who promised to call me back within three days - 10 days later and I have yet to hear from him. I've left multiple messages for the store manager, Michael Flavius, who is obviously too busy to call me back. His assistant barely seemed interested in giving him the message. The worst customer service I've ever experienced. I'd much rather support my local hardware store than ever give Home Depot any more business. read more

Every 3 weeks I get bottled water from HD last time they were so was the montville store and rockaway. I had to go to Walmart to get water. When I went to HD they would not exchange the water. Walmart was willing to do it for me When HD was out of water. I spoke to the manager and he told to bad. I wouldn't even give 1 star if I had the option. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOME DEPOT. I placed an order for my front entry in MAY. It's been 2 months since I have received any information about my door, or any regard to when I can expect an installation. Any time I call, or decide to visit the store for an update, no one has any idea, nor can I can get any information about my special order. I paid the full and entire amount upfront (over $5,000 for the door) and this is not the service I expected. Finally, after two months of having no contact, and just running around in limbo, I received a call from the installer saying they can have the door installed on July 2nd, 2015. Lo' and behold, I get a mysterious call from home depot today saying my door was received damaged, and they are going to put a new order for a door and it'll take 10 days. To say I was angry would be an understatement. The people in the doors and windows department are a bunch of people who have no idea how to deal with customers, or deal with any large orders. I highly would recommend to you all to avoid this home depot at all costs. Doing so, will save you the heart ache, and your pockets from losing thousands of dollars. read more

Ugh. Home Depot.....I really do not enjoy coming here at all. And generally whenever we need to come here to repair something it seems like we have to come back 4 times, like when we bought a sumppump but they don't include the proper fitting that you need to attach the stupid thing to the pipe to outside. BIG OPPORTUNITY TO UPSELL HERE HOME DEPOT--put a stupid sign next to the sumppumps saying "do you have all your fittings? Most of these units use blah blah blah" whatever. All of the stores are layed out differently so it's nearly impossible to find anything ever. This one in particular is fine as far as layout, at least it never changes. It seems like whenever you actually need help you can't find anyone, and when you don't they're all up in your business.I guess overall what it comes down to is that they do have everything you need, but I just do not enjoy shopping here pretty much ever. read more

Its Home Depot, just the same as all of them. Usually they have whatever I am looking for, some of the staff are pretty knowledgeable, if you can find them. The main reason for the low score is that Home Depot as a corporation has a penchant for wiping Main street stores off the map, something I certainly dislike. Each associate had ideas on the best way to do it and then even helped with the implementation of the project! I will definitely be making this my 'go to' spot for projects and home needs! Home Depot home service department is horrible. 1-888-586-1666. Sent a request in two weeks ago to have a fence estimate and it says they will get right back to you. About a week later they called. Set up an appointment for today Monday. They called and left two vm this am to confirm time of driver. I called right back and had to leave them a vm. They never called back and the driver never came to the house. they just want to keep saying we called you twice, we called you and left a message. I said yes, and I called you after the second and left a message with you. She said well we don't know about messages left for us. Oh so you don't check. The driver said he tried to call and sent an email. NOPE no missed calls and no emails. but the reprep on the phone ignores that and kept saying we called you....lets schedule you for tomorrow....No will not be giving Home Depot any of my money. read more

Total rip off. Went in to buy florence lights. Went to the counter, they were 2x more than what they had on the website. After about 15 minutes, it turns out the stupidity of this place they mixed 2 brands of lighting in the same pile. They wouldnt honor the price, but yet had me wait standing right there until they scanned about 30 boxes and replaced them were they were. Instead of honoring their idiot mistake, they made the customer wait. Then when I finally got home, installed the lights they were defective. Never again will I step into a Home Dept. Rather drive the 10 miles to Lowes for now on! read more
