So we ordered a GE bottom freezer fridge with ice maker from Home Depot. The fresh food shelves are at eye level. Very nice. But no ice maker. The fridge was delivered with the ice maker in a box. The Home Depot installation team did NOT install the ice maker. I called Home Depot many times, hours on the phone. "Can you send someone to install the ice maker?" No. "Can you recommend someone to install the ice maker?" No. "Can I hire The Home Depot to install the ice maker?" No. So I contacted local Nicollet Appliance. They are always honest and reliable. The person from Nicollet Appliance came out, looked things over, checked his phone. "They sold you the wrong ice maker!" "No you can't order the correct ice maker. GE does not make an ice maker for this refrigerator!" No charge. Nicollet Appliance is always honest. Not Home Depot! BTW, our new GE fridge from Home Depot is noisy. Day and night. I cannot set the correct temperature in the fresh food compartment and the freezer at the same time. One is always off correct temperature. The crisper drawers are weird. They have an indent in the plastic walls cutting their capacity in half. Just wasted space for no reason. Weird. read more

The garden center had so many beautiful plants! I appreciated the explicit signage about sun requirements, perennial vs annual, and all the clearance prices! I definitely scored during our visit. One employee was super helpful. They approached me and offered help. I was looking for something specific and they walked me over to where it was! Another time during the same trip, I needed a cart while already in the garden center. There was a group of employees by the checkout there goofing off, which is fine by me (I'm not their boss), but it took asking excuse me twice to get help. One employee grabbed me a cart and the others just stared at me awkwardly. we checked out with the main self-checkout, not within the garden center, and the handheld scanner made the process much easier! Unfortunately one of the plants didn't have a sticker. Again a group of employees were chatting in a circle near us and we couldn't get their attention for help. read more

Double charged me over $2,600 for a water heater install. Put my checking account over $1,000 in the red. Found out when I tried to use my card and got a fraud alert. Pretty embarrassing. I was looking for a storage cabinet and Home Depot had one I liked. They also offered a small $5 coupon online. The website said that there were limited supplies online and to call and see if it is still available at the only store within 90 miles that says has them. I called and a very helpful gal said that they had exactly one remaining. I asked if I can purchase it online and come and pick it up curbside. I was told that it may take a day or two before they can get it set aside for me. I was told I would have to come to the store and get it. She did say she would set it aside for me she was very helpful again for me. She called back a few minutes later to say that her boss yelled at her and that she couldn't do that after all. I asked again if I can pay for it and pick it up curbside but she said that in order to pay for it, I would have to come into the store. I said I will be on my way. I get to the store and I know I will need a sturdy cart to carry the box this cabinet comes in. None available at the entrance so I grab a regular cart. I find the cabinet and lift it onto the cart and wheel it to the checkout counter. I normally would use the self-checkout lanes to remain socially distant but I signed up for Home Depot's promotional emails and texts so I can get the $5 coupon. I assumed I would need to have an employee scan that in. I also needed to try to keep at least one hand on the cart because the weight of the cabinet on the regular shopping cart was very tippy. The checkout clerk asked if I would like to save $30 on my purchase by signing up for the Home Depot credit card and I said I didn't need another credit card. She said again what a great deal it was and I replied again that I wasn't interested. I showed her the code for the $5 coupon I had and she had trouble with that. A supervisor replied that it is an online coupon only. She didn't care that I tried a couple times to purchase online and come pick it up but since Home Depot would take a day or two to go to aisle 3 and grab the cabinet, I offered to come do it for them and save us all some time. Needless to say, I got the cabinet, but I don't feel good about shopping at Home Depot. I may never go back again because of the treatment I received there. I think I will return this cabinet and buy another one elsewhere. I don't blame ClosetMaid, it seems like a very nice unit that will solve my problems with storage nicely. I really like coming here. When I walk in I want to tell someone what I am looking for and get help. I think Home Depot sets the par for this service. Like any larger company, I'll sometimes come across someone that is having a bad day but for the most part I get a great experience. With the service you pay the price, however I am able to find really good deals on the right day. We opened a new shop down the road so I frequent here. Do not want to give it 1 star. DO NOT USE HOME DEPOT RICHFIELD SERVICES!! Such as installing a kitchen countertop!! I met with the consultant at Home Depot in February 2022 to choose a sink and countertop and they let me know the countertop people Crew2, Inc. would be contacting me which they did. The sink was delivered to my home early March. Crew2, Inc. came out to measure but then I didn't hear from them. I called them and they told me the hold up was because of the edging and that I would have to choose a different edging. I chose another edging and again didn't hear back. I called them again and they scheduled the installation for July 29. Yes I had waited this LONG!! I contacted a plumber to take out my existing sink and he came the night before. I called Crew2 by 11:00 a.m. on the 29th because they were supposed to come in the morning and they told me they hadn't cut the countertop!! I again had my plumber come back to reconnect my old sink. Home Depot told me that if I wanted to cancel my order I would need to put my sink on my outdoor (duplex) front step and FedEx would be by within a WEEK to pick it up! My step is about 2 feet wide and both sides of the duplex use this step and there was a chance of rain!! Because I didn't want that to happen I gave them a second chance. This time for today August 15th. I again had the plumber come out this morning to take out my sink. Guess what?? Crew2 doesn't have my countertop cut!! Here we go again!! So you say that it's Crew2, Inc.'s fault......yes obviously not a good company, BUT HOME DEPOT HIRES THEM!! OBVIOUSLY HOME DEPOT RICHFIELD DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!!! read more

They get 1 star only because the carpet installation crew was great. Almost two months ago I ordered new carpet for my master suite. Measurements were taken and five weeks later the installation was scheduled. When the installers were almost done they discovered the carpet was 12" too short and there was no place for a good seam. I talked to the store and they insisted the room had to be re-measured. Meanwhile all of my bedroom furniture, including my dis-assembled bed and dresser plus bi-fold doors are in my master bath. The room is totally useless. Per the store the room was re-measured five days ago. Because there isn't a piece of carpet from the same dye lot big enough the whole job has to be re-done. HD promised I would have an ETA for the new carpet by today. It's 9:06 pm and I've not heard from anyone. All told their mistake will have displaced me for almost a month. They have said they will not discuss compensation until after the job is complete. Meanwhile I've had to buy toiletries, move into a spare bedroom (thank God I have one) and wash and wear the same clothes over and over. I will NEVER do business with HD again! read more

First ring suburb Home Depot. Recently bought a shop vac that was missing some attachments it was supposed to have included. Most stuff seems like it was already purchased and then returned and refurbished because the boxes have been opened already and are taped shut. Lines for returns and exchanges are long, I waited 45 minutes because the store already got your business and returns cost them extra, they had one cashier on the job and no where to sit while waiting. read more

This was the worst Home Depot I've ever been to in my life. I will preface this review by saying we were two girls in their mid-twenties and that I am now boycotting ANY Home Depot. I will go out of my way to go to Menards, Ace etc. from now on. The employees were unhelpful and sexist. We were continually passed of from person to person because no one wanted to take the time to help us themselves. We were not taken seriously, and one gentleman even called us 'girls'. Finally a woman (who we weren't even sure really worked there she was so weird) helped us find the right type of wall anchors we needed. Instead of looking at the screw we had and telling us what would work, she told us that our hardware sucked and kept repeating herself over and over again like we were stupid. While I wasn't quite sure what kind of wall we were drilling into, or that we should have bought a drill bit in order to use the anchors, these people assumed that we had no idea about anything and that we were basically a lost cause. Man alive, it seemed like everytime I would go down this one aisle it was like the same sneaky-sneaky guy was always there to try and sell me. (I get it, i get it... services are profitable in retail; but sometimes (most of the time) I just want to shop and not be "sold".) Hit and miss when it comes to finding help here. Sometimes it seems like you have to wait a super long time for an Orange Apron to help you. And sometimes they're immediately there. Large parking lot -- never an issue there. read more

You can't beat prices at Home Depot and the proximity of this one makes me a frequent visitor, probably too frequent. I never have a problem finding someone to help, but they always seem to be in a rush and are on their way to something. The teamwork from their, "Let's Do This" slogan is lost because of the limited time for their staff. When I do find someone that can talk about a project with me it's seldom I feel that they are more knowledgeable than I am after 30 minutes of google searching. Ultimately it probably costs them a lot of money, mainly because I will just buy whatever I think I need or what might work then bring it back. Awful experience at the tool rental desk on 8/18 that continued to 8/19... Visited this Home Depot at 8:00 am on 8/18 to rent a rototiller for a backyard project I was working on. There was one person in the tool rental area (at 8:00 on a Saturday during the summer?!?) and three customers waiting for service while this single employee answered questions, got equipment, helped hooking up trailers, unlocked equipment, etc. The person ahead of me even had to bag their own sandpaper for what was most likely needed for a floor sander. The customer experience wasn't great in that the employee was rather ambivalent and lacked the amount of hustle that was in alignment with the number of waiting customers and the area was understaffed. Bottom line, I waited 40 minutes to rent a rototiller for a 24-hour period. Fast forward to the next day, Sunday, and I needed to keep the rototiller an additional day to finish up the project. I called the number on the contract, listened to the automated corporate voice message specifically for the tool rental department and after several rings another corporate voice message let me know that I was being transferred to another area (general store operator maybe?). Several more rings went unanswered until I finally hung up. I called again and the same process repeated. Contract says something about a $275 fee if the tool isn't returned on time, or some language like that, which prompted me to get in the car and visit the store and let them know I needed the rototiller for an addition day and extend my contract. While on the road to the store I dialed the number on the contract again and this time someone answered. After asking about keeping the tool an additional day I was assured that I would be changed either the 4-hour rate or a full day rate depending on how long I kept the tool. Good news! However, when I asked how much that would be, the response was (in a "why are you asking me to do this" voice) "Ugh, I don't know, and I'll have to log into my completed..." Wow, just wow....I told her to forget I asked, completed the call, and returned home. I'll update this post after I return the tool if the crap-tacular experience continues. Summary - This is the last tool I'll rent from this Home Depot. This location appears understaffed and customers appear to be to much trouble for the employees I dealt with. read more

I've been generally pleased with service at this Home Depot. People are generally really knowledgeable (or know how to find the guy who is), and they seem to care about solving your problem. I had a guy in plumbing help me find the right stuff for an IKEA vanity for about 15 minutes -- all for a purchase that ended up being like $3. This is my go-to home store, with only a couple exceptions: 1. Outlets/Switches -- I do not care for Leviton, and they don't carry Pass and Seymour. I prefer Menards for this. 2. Trees: I bought a tree here, and regretted it as soon as I got it into the ground. Three months later, I'm still struggling to try to straighten it out. Go to a legitimate nursery; the cost difference will be money well-spent. But I can say that I've had great experiences with lumber, painting supplies, lighting, electrical (except switches/outlets), tile and supplies, pest control, key cutting, and other (non-tree) garden center offerings. One other major gripe is that they're very pushy about selling their professional services. In my opinion, they're a rip-off. We had a very bad experience with them trying to central air (bid was 50% higher than the one we ultimately chose, for a system that was not compatible with the house anyway, and they pressured us to sign a contract same-day). But the solution to this problem is easy: when they ask if you're a homeowner, just say no! Car parking is ample, and they have a so-so bike rack near the main entrance (big, but a bad design). Decent access to 14 bus and 515 bus, although it's kind of a hike from the bus stop. read more

I am reviewing our Home Depot flooring order and installation through this Richfield store. I think they should not even offer this service based on how poor our experience has been. The communication has been awful. Each step of the way - picking the product, order, delivery, install measurements, and the actual installation - involves speaking and coordinating with a different person, department, or company. Getting a call back and getting a consistent message from each person involved has been difficult. Currently we are in the midst of the installation and it has been one miscommunication and delay after another. They ended up needing an additional product for the subfloor that wasn't initially estimated for and they are floundering as if this has never happened before. We lost and entire day of forward motion in making phone calls because no one was calling us back or moving forward with our desired solution and product. For example, we had to provide the flooring install coordinator with the phone number of the installer that they hired. Overall, we are very, very disappointed with this experience and wish that we would have gone with any other company. They are very unprofessional and disorganized. read more

Used the Home Depot installation service to create and install my blinds for my whole condo. Had wood blinds made for my living room and dining room. Beautiful...until 7 months later the tiny and inadequate little plastic piece holding the blind strings together broke making it impossible to pull them up. Ordered the part and what followed has been the single worst customer service experience I have ever had. Multiple calls left on voicemail with no reply over 3 months. I was able to talk to a lovely woman named Roberta who explained that they were seriously overloaded with work and thousands of calls. Finally the part comes, installer shows up at my house and 5 minutes later he leaves telling me it would take too long to restring and that what he has done (simply shoving all of the strings in a little plastic piece leaving them bunched and uneven) is "good enough" and he leaves. I tried to ask questions and was told that he has 20 years experience and knows what he is doing. Plastic piece immediately came apart and blinds catch going up and down and once again unusable. Put in more multiple calls to the installation service, finally got lucky and it was answered. Was told I only had installer service for one more month and they would have an installer pick up the blind, bring to have it restrung and return it. That has been almost one month ago and still no installer. I fear that when it is picked up, I may be without my largest window covering for a long time and still get a blind that is not made well when it is returned. This was a splurge expense for me to celebrate a personal success. I don't have money to waste. Very very bad experience. Home Depot Installation Services doesn't value their customers or honor their warranties. I am stuck with this now. I only hope that after reading this I can prevent this from happening to someone else. read more

We had an AWFUL experience trying to buy carpet from Home Depot. We ended up placing 2 orders(and cancelling both) due to employees giving misinformation about what inventory was actually available for the 7 day install. When the correct carpet was identified (and we lost 3 days in the process) the install guarantee was outside of the 7 day window. We had managers who didn't follow up with with our concerns and still got a bill for services we never received. (Giving negative stars wasn't an option.) Do yourself a favor and avoid this department, it's a mess. Of note, we found a company who specializes in flooring and completed the job, start to finish, within 48 hours, and came to our house with a samples for ease of service with 24 hour turn around. Do research-paying a little bit more goes a long way in terms of customer service when flooring and carpet is their specialty. I'd rather drive out of my way than to give this store my business again, for anything. read more

I finally bought a bunch of plants (it's only been, what, six months since we moved into our apartment and I said, "We should get some plants?"). I was holding out to go to a local garden center, but two weekends ago I broke down and realized that it just needed to happen NOW. Our windowsill looked pitiful and the spring fever has inspired me to be an extra good mother to my plants. Nobody bothered me while I picked out my plants in the indoor plant section. Nobody said hello or offered to help me either, but I didn't need any help so I didn't mind. I like that they have the whole indoor plant area so I'm not wandering around wondering what I can keep inside and what I can't. They also have one of those scanner app codes on the plants where you can find out more detail about their care on your phone. Then if you lose the paper info, you don't forget what your plant is or what to do with it. I found a pretty gardenia, a jade plant and a palm that all look very healthy. I also bought some of those little trays there to place underneath the plants and was tempted to buy this big ceramic pot for the gardenia. I'm assuming that under my constant care, it will grow to be a huge tree. I can't be certain, so I didn't buy the giant pot for my mini tree. I've stopped in here for little things every now and then and I can't say they are the most helpful or accessible at this location (you sometimes have to hunt someone down). That could be improved, but all in all I've had good experiences. read more

I'm in the middle of a redecorating a number of rooms in my house which means endless trips to the hardware stores. While Home Depot's prices are a little bit higher than Menard's, which is also fairly close to where I live, I've HUGELY appreciated Home Depot's customer service. Bulk majority of the time I'm in, I'm asked a handful of times through the various departments, if I need help finding or needing assistance with anything. The last time I was in, a couple of days ago, I was even asked the moment I came through the entrance. This simple question speaks volumes (when I'm at Menard's I'm generally hunting down an employee and end up getting a schmarmy (it's a real word...not really) answer from some teenage or college-age employee. When I was in to buy a sink for the bathroom last week, 2 of the Home Depot employees offered a hand to load up the sink and have it waiting for me at the check-out so I could shop more freely. Again, simple gestures that SHOULD be the standard for all retail outlets, but has seemingly disappeared especially in the big-box stores...except for this location; their service is great! And for full disclosure, yes, there have been times when the store has been busy and everyone needs assistance where I just simply have to wait. read more

Hate the robot cashiers. I was forced to use one once when there were long lines at the few human cashiers. I started scanning items when I realized that a previous customer had entered his items but hadn't completed the order because he had left his wallet in his car. Luckily he was a nice guy so he didn't punch me in the face or anything. But this would not have happened with a human cashier. Apparently, Home Depot can't afford to pay the low wages for cashiers. But Menards can, so that's where I go now as a first choice. This robotic trend will continue. The ultimate goal, I'm sure, will be to have no humans in the stores at all, except customers, of course. But when robots take all our jobs there will be no one to buy their products. I will never shop at Home Depot again. I rented a steam cleaner at the Richfield Home Depot. Long story short: I got it home. I had stained the backseat of my car. After a phone call to Home Depot about that issue as well as other issues with the cleaner (it was broken and hadn't been fixed before they rented it to me), I brought the machine back. They had me fill out a claim regarding the stained upholstery in my car and seemed preoccupied with the fact that I am unmarried. The claim was sent regarding my car. I've attempted to contact the person in charge of the claim with no luck. No one will return my phone call. I've waited for two and a half weeks. I've called Richfield Home Depot, and the managers there are also unhelpful and say the issue "is out of their hands." I've called Home Depot's national customer care line who said they would call the claims department and would leave a message for me. No one has bothered to call back. Terrible, terrible, awful, horrible experience. Even though Home Depot is close to my house, I will drive the extra miles to go to another home improvement center. read more

Went in for a 32" storm door. They decided to special order me a 33" door, which seemed weird, but the door and window specialist assured me it would be correct. Two weeks later, a 34" door arrived. It did not fit. They refused to return it, as it had been a special order. A special order they insisted upon. Here's the kicker: the 32" size I needed had been in their regular stock the whole time. No apologies, no attempt to correct the issue. Just $239 wasted. I will probably stay away from Home Depots from now on. I've had nothing but oustanding service from this particular Home Depot. Buying a house in September has made me a regular over the past few months. Every time I step into the store someone is right there asking what I need. If they don't know where to find it, they're on a radio immediately getting me an answer. More often than not I am accompanied by a HD employee to the exact aisle, making sure I found what was on my list. After accumulating hundreds of dollars worth of HD gift cards over the holidays it looks like I'll be back again and again getting the finishing touches done at my home. read more

We had a pretty terrible experience trying to order carpeting from this store. Ordered it in early May and it was finally installed in mid-September after multiple cancellations, damaged product, poor communication, etc. Very disappointing.
