I've spoken to seven associates, and I've been sitting here in Home Depot waiting for a manager for 45 minutes. They keep telling me, 5 more minutes and he'll be here. They absolutely ignore you. You have to flag them down, and even then they tell you that they either can't page the manager, or if they do pay him, it won't make any difference. I would advise avoiding the Home Depot in Watertown Massachusetts at all cost. You can read the reviews on that particular Home Depot to find out how bad they really are. Calling the home office makes no difference. They just tell you to have an associate page the manager. read more

Shout out to Bob Forte in the Flooring Dept!! I had a huge and complicated request - I found a rug sample at another store which apparently they had erroneously since they didn't carry the rug. I just had a photo of the sample and went to Home Depot in Waltham. I randomly asked Bob for some guidance, and he worked really hard and happily to find the rug on the website and he did! DO NOT USE HOME DEPOT FOR KITCHEN RENOVATION. What began as an exciting kitchen renovation turned into a year-long disaster due entirely to Home Depot's mismanagement, poor communication, and consistently incompetent subcontractors. We are now over a year into the project, and our kitchen is still unfinished--with raw shims and holes visible under the cabinets, a wall of cabinets installed 4 inches off-center, and seams in our island countertop that shouldn't be there. And Home Depot just sent us a Docusign saying they consider the job complete. Let me walk you through this fiasco. We started this process in mid-2024. Home Depot sent a contractor to measure, then designed the kitchen with us, and we ordered what we were told was a custom kitchen. It was scheduled for a two-day installation in August 2024. The cabinets arrived late. Pieces were missing. The installer showed up--alone--and announced he doesn't work with anyone else, so it would take longer than two days. He left early the first day. On day two, while attempting to mount a 12-foot high cabinet by himself, he dropped it on his own head, resulting in a bloody injury, a hole in our wall, and multiple damaged cabinets. He left. A few days later, he came back with a second person (who was competent), but still didn't finish the job. Worse: the entire wall of cabinets was installed incorrectly, shifted 4 inches too far to the right. This meant the doors on the right side couldn't even open. When we raised this issue (as we had already raised concerns about the original installer), Home Depot said they'd "order parts" to address it--but never proposed a real fix. Instead, they suggested covering the gaping mistake with a giant filler piece. We rejected that: this was a custom kitchen, not IKEA (which, frankly, would have been more functional at a fraction of the cost). Then came the counters. The island was installed incorrectly, so the counters had to be cut to accommodate a mistake. Now we have visible seams around a beam--not structurally ideal and totally unsightly. The sides of the island were coming loose. Toe kicks were falling off. The whole thing felt--and looked--half-baked. Months passed. Eventually we got permission to hire our own carpenter to complete the top trim (because Home Depot couldn't be bothered). But when a new installer was finally sent to fix the loose panels and unfinished areas, he showed up hours late with no idea what he was even supposed to do. He didn't have tools, glue, or the scope of work. But to his credit, he went to Ace Hardware, bought strong epoxy, and made the panels stay. We appreciated him. When he said he'd return with a nail gun to finish the job properly--he simply never came back. No phone call, no contact info. Meanwhile, we're left with unfinished shims clearly visible under the cabinets. When we asked for those to be covered, Home Depot claimed it was "outside the scope of work"--despite the fact that we had our entire floor and subfloor replaced and leveled before installation began. We even have extra trim pieces sitting here unused from the surplus shipment caused by their earlier mistakes. The installer agreed he could make it look great--if Home Depot approved it. They refused. Then today, they sent us a Docusign release form, declaring the project complete, while our kitchen remains visibly unfinished. No apology. No solution. No ownership. Home Depot's handling of this renovation was a complete failure from start to (not) finish. Their communication is broken. Their subcontractor vetting is nonexistent. Their follow-through is abysmal. And the idea that they'd deliver an expensive custom kitchen and leave it looking like a rushed salvage job is insulting. Avoid at all costs. You deserve better. read more

Horrible experience with truck rental. Arrived at 11am and there were 6 people waiting at the desk with no employee in sight. Finally one guy walked up and started helping people. We reserved a 12ft box truck in June for Aug 31/Sept 1 weekend. We called one week prior to confirm the reservation. When we arrived we were told that the reservation was cancelled and we were handed a list of other HDs in the area and told to call to see if they had any trucks. They did not, since August 31/Sept 1 is a huge moving weekend for the Boston area for students. We were told that we could "just wait and see" if any trucks were returned. The employee said he couldn't promise anything but just to wait. TWO HOURS into our very tight moving schedule I looked up and saw 3 trucks sitting in the parking lot. I (again) had to track down an employee and ask about the trucks sitting in the lot. He said, "yes one of those are available". The truck was filthy, had trash in it, had a broken visor and smelled like cat urine. He told us to not return it any dirtier than it was. TERRIBLE customer service. Do not rent from this HD. They will cancel your reservation upon pickup and won't help. read more

While the parking lot here is a ZOO, Barry at the customer service/returns desk was great: friendly, speedy with both items being returned (separate receipts) and one was a giant rug. Worst experience ever for online order ! I wish there is a zero star I can give. I placed an order on April 28 and expected delivery on May 03. The lady name Nicole, who fulfilled my order called me on May 02 and told me that my order was placed with two pallets but it was actually 4 pallets and delivery company refused it and told her to fix the order so they can deliver it. She screwed up my order and placed my order back to the queue and because of this, it got push back to May 08, but my contract is scheduled to work on May 03 and they already diged my back yard. I came to the store four times to confront with them and nothing be resolved. Very disappointed at the service. read more

The shed I paid for online was cancelled. Apparently it was sold to another customer! I was livid. Spent 45 minutes on hold trying to get someone to help me. I finally drove to the Waltham one, while still on hold. I showed up and there were no customers waiting at customer service. Buyer Beware: If you purchase an appliance from the Waltham Home Depot store make sure you talk to an employee who actually knows what he is doing and knows how to place a delivery order. They were supposed to deliver a fridge and take the old one. The fridge was delivered outside they would not take out of box or bring inside until we had to tip them. Then they refused to take the old fridge. Now costing $200 for a company to pick up and dispose of old fridge. If the employee who should have been properly trained told us that we would have gone to another store. I will never place a delivery order with Home Depot in Waltham again. Train your staff. I went to look at paint swatches for a project. There were no lights highlighting the section. 3 different employees told me they had no idea how to turn them on. After using my flashlight for a while I asked someone walking by for the manager, seeing as how there was no one even working the section for the 30 minutes I was there. The manager came over and told me he did not know how to turn the lights on. I repeated that back to him when he told me he would need to make some phone calls to ask around but that it wasnt going to be any time soon. I suppose they have everything, they're just not customer-friendly. I had a bad experience trying to shop for appliances. Three phone calls, and nobody answered. When I finally got a human on the phone, she said, "try again in 15-20 minutes." Visiting in person, I was told that I'm basically on my own to install the appliance I buy. If they install it, they charge $600. So I went to my local appliance store (Warrendale), and got my appliance that they would install for about $300. Buy local. read more

On 01/01/21 we ordered an LG front load washer and dryer with pedestals from Waltham Home Depot. We purchased the 5 year warranty, the delivery/installation and old machine removal. The delivery went well. After the crew left, I noticed the washer was not level, so I leveled it. On Sunday 01/03 the washer was running and now it started to leak. I attempted to trace the leak but because of my disability, I am unable to move the machine. I contacted the store and I was given a number to call for LG service. I made contact and was told I needed to trouble shoot the machine prior to them coming out. I explained that I did the best I could to do that and then I was informed that I might need to pay for the service call if it was leaking because of the install. I called HD back and talked with a manager John who informed me that there should be no charge for me and informed me that he would address it and someone would get back to me. A short time later I received a call back from LG again and was told the exact same thing as the first time, I again informed LG that I was not paying a service charge and that I was calling HD back. Third phone call now to HD and I was told someone would get ack to me, the call came and the woman from HD said there is a service call set for 01/18/21. So now I am stuck with this brand new machine I can't use for a week This is totally unacceptable, after paying just under $3000. I wish I had paid a little more $$ from an appliance store. I will now cut up the HD card and travel to Lowes in Woburn for any of my needs. Very disappointed if you can not take care of what you sell then you should not be selling it. read more

I bought an AMANA AC 8,000 BTU unit on June 25, 2021. Worked well for a few days then stopped working. Home Depot Waltham Customer Service had new employees manning the area so know one new anything about the product and potential troubleshooting. This is the third AC unit I have purchased from Home Depot that has failed. The first two were from General Electric. The first one died within a week and was returned and replaced free of the charge. The replacement died a year later but since it was out of warranty. Tough luck. I will never buy a GE product again. I switched to AMANA hoping it was better. I am now dealing with XLS the licensee for the product to see how they can help. I am disappointed that Home Depot is selling junk. Oh, happy day - they finally repaved the road to this location! But that's nothing compared to the consistent high quality customer service I've received in the years I've come here for home repair / maintenance parts. Take tonight - we were calling around to see who even carries moth blocks (those discs of moth ball ingredients in a plastic hanger) since my elderly father was looking to replenish his stash. We got in touch with a rep named Bill and he personally confirmed that they had moth blocks in stock. My first thought was, 'We'll see when we get there.' It's healthy skepticism, really! When we arrived and were unable to find the product, we asked a sales rep to help us out. Lo and behold, it was Bill! He quickly pointed us in the right direction and he was friendly about it to boot. The only suggestion I have for this location is to improve pricing - certain items are more expensive than those sold at Wal-Mart (lightbulbs, caulking material, etc). Big ticket items tend to be less expensive, which I suspect is due to contracts with various suppliers. Thanks goodness for DIY stores! read more

A regular Depot run to pick up a bunch of stuff. I needed a 6' finished shelf cut, so I went to the saw area. After waiting for 10 minutes with no one in sight, I called the store via my cell and asked to have someone sent to help. 10-15 minutes later a guy shows up, looks at the piece of finished shelf and says they're not allowed to cut it. Really...? After waiting almost 20-25 minutes, I'm told they won't cut it -- while I had another Depot cut the same piece of shelving a week before. Ridiculous. read more

We are painting my sons room (have time and he is a teenager) and have been there several times to figure out color. Paint department helpful and other staff helpful, all masked. Had to return a damaged item I ordered online. This location was the closest one to me that had the item I ordered. Exchange was a breeze and was really grateful for Ed who was super helpful and kind. Was able to get in and out with that transaction in a matter of minutes. I then had a question about some hardware for cabinets. I brought a broken hinge with me and thought it would be simple to show it someone and get a new one. It was damn near impossible. They kept looking for someone named "Alex" who hadn't come in yet and that Alex would be able to help me. I wound up being pawned off on 4 different employees only for them to tell me they don't think they carry what I'm looking for. Very frustrating. read more

Beware random raised prices. Three years ago I noticed that a small item I purchased seemed very expensive. When I got home I compared it with on-line prices and the Ace Hardware and True Value prices. It was 3 times the cost that it was elsewhere. When I returned the item they said that there was a mistake and that they will fix the price. Which they did. Since then, when I shop at Home Depot, I have been checking the prices for the little items I buy like screws, light bulbs, cleaning supplies, etc. I have found out that there is a regular trend at Home Depot to jack up the prices of these little things for a day or two and then drop the price back down. When challenged they give me the same response: "Sorry there has been a mistake, we will fix it". But a mistake once is a mistake. A mistake 4-5 times a year is not a mistake it's a policy that skirts very close to stealing. Scary read more

OK, I am giving this HD another star for two reasons: 1) Went back to see my designs for my kitchen. LOVE them! Really great, free service Home Depot offers though Scott - the chap who mocked up the designs - suggested I take them to a branch in NYC who might be more familiar with small spaces but also was interested in having me come back after I do the remodel to see how it turned out. I like that kind of personal investment! 2) When my Mom and I went to check out the appliances again, the chaps that were a little grumps a day before were nice as pie AND helpful? I got my new toilet, hallway light fixture, kitchen light, and bedroom ceiling fan here. What can I say? Home Depot's my one-stop-shop for home improvements. Even my electrician frequented HD like a madman as he was working on my place. Plus, through the month of June, if you use your Discover card at a home improvement store (like HD...), you get 5% cash back. It's as if the stars aligned for me. Thanks, credit card gods. I was able to get cash back on all sorts of goodies that I normally would never have even thought of. I would've thought this past quarter was a wash--home improvement stores? what? Luckily, I was able to find a lot of good stuff here thanks to help from very helpful and friendly employees. They have a cool little clearance section closer to the front where I actually found my cool modern hallway light fixture... which was still full price at the Watertown HD. Every time I have been to Home Depot, the associates have been VERY educated and helpful in helping me with my needs - from building a table leaf, to a new toilet seat, to paint. But not this time. This time I was in the nursery looking for a plant that is not going to KILL my cat. (there are only like 4 plants that are safe for house cats). The first guy I asked blew me off to another guy who totally looked at me like i was insane... then a third guy also acted like it was a weird question... I feel like this is something you should know!!! Everyone has a cat or a dog! Thanks to google I found a plant that is safe for cats but it took me 45 minutes and should have taken me 10 min. I have never written a bad review -- ever. I believe in hard work, the goodness of people and positive feedback. But yesterday my experience with Home Depot, Waltham was terrible.... I was looking to purchase the components of an outdoor shower around 3:30 PM on a Friday afternoon and asked various employees all of whom paged the responsible person 4 times , I waited in Aisle 29 for 20 minutes. I went to customer service and asked -- nothing!!!! Finally a person came, grabbed the most expensive indoor shower head and tried to be done with me only to finally say that he had no idea and told me that the guy who is responsible left for the day..... at this point I just informed the customer service and left the store.... I wasted at least 1.5 hrs of my day (if I count my commute as well) and accomplished nothing. I will try to avoid this store.... read more

Buyer beware -- do not buy appliances from Home Depot, in Waltham or elsewhere, if you want them to reliably be delivered. Home Depot uses "Spirit Delivery and Distribution", which is an absolutely unreliable company (see: http://www.yelp.com/biz/spirit-delivery-and-distribution-services-melrose-park). Here's a timeline of my experience: - July 4: Purchase washer/dryer at Home Depot Waltham. Delivery by Thursday, Jul 7. - July 7: Missed delivery #1 - conflicting info on "why" between headquarters and driver. - July 11: Missed delivery #2 - truck supposedly broke down. Rescheduled for July 14th. - July 14: Missed delivery #3 - my rescheduled delivery was not in the system. - July 18: Partial delivery - washer delivered, dryer was badly damaged (like someone dropped a bowling ball on its side). - July 25th: Finally got it completely on try #5. The issue is fundamentally with the delivery service, but Home Depot needs to be held "Yelp Accountable" for the companies they employ to deliver their appliances. Also, the apathy I've experienced from Home Depot Waltham and Home Depot Customer Care has been equally unsatisfactory. read more

I am renovating my house and I frequent the Waltham, Everett, and Somerville Home Depots regularly. Waltham has the best returns though I believe the really good returns guy, Mike, has been promoted to customer service. We also always use Waltham for plants (excellent nursery), custom orders like doors and windows, and online order pickup. In addition the Waltham store has the largest lighting section of the 3 stores in the area. The Everett store has a bigger lumber supply though for things like 2x4s the Somerville had the largest inventory turnover which is nice for getting strait boards. Everett also has the largest plumbing and electric selection and the most knowledgable paint mixers. read more

HOME DEPOT, WALTHAM, MA. Home Depot finally gave Veterans/military AND THEIR IMMEDIATE FAMILY a 10% discount. I went to HD in Waltham today, Jul 2nd and bought 4 items thru the self checkout register. I cannot do the military discount, a store person must do that. I called over an employee (his name was ZACHARY) who was supposed to be monitoring that area and asked for help. He PUT DOWN HIS PHONE and came over. When I told him I have a military discount, he promptly said next time the Veteran has to be with you. THIS IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE! I told him he was wrong and suggested he read up on this item. He rang up my 4 items and walked away in silence and got right back to reading some crap on his PHONE. He just left me standing there. I had to call over the woman who was also working there and she entered in the military discount with no problem and no comments. Waltham is the only store that I EVER encounter this problem with. It's unfortunate that this kid knows nothing about the sacrifices our Veterans make/made for him. It's about time Home Depot in Waltham makes their policies clear to these kids.
