This store, in all seriousness, was one of the best gems in Wellesley. Living there 5 years had its ups and downs and Greens was always consistent in regards to their service (exceptional), friendliness, knowledge, et. They go out of their way to please the customer, taking your purchases to your vehicle, delivering grills at no charge, and on and on. Although I'm not far from Wellesley I still make the trip back to Greens and likely always will. They've won me over as a customer for life! read more

Would've gotten 5 stars, I love local hardware stores! Only giving 4 because please I am not handicapped, nor do I think that I look handicapped, but I find it VERY offensive when store clerks (this happens a lot in Wellesley) automatically take your bags out to what they assume is your car! I thought real estate in Wellesley is as expensive as it is because for a suburban town it actually does have a lot in the way of bike & pedestrian oriented retail?! Every time a store clerk offers to take my bags outside, as Greens Hardware does, it insults me & makes me feel like I am 80 years old! read more

I nneded some pots and I was crossing the street to go to The Maugus Restaurant and I had to go past this kitchen store. It's a kitchen store, I need to look. You can get All-Clad pots & pans at sale price all the time. It's not a kitchen store, its a hardware store. It's a family run hardware store. I was confused because there used to be a stationery store called Green's stationery. It morphed. In 2005 Tom Green decided to change the family stationery store to a family hardware store. Some of the prices on hardware are better than big box, some are not. But it's a lot closer and with what I save on gas and agony makes it a faster nicer trip. And for what I buy, it has always been cheaper. The variety of everday, usable stuff is good. Curtain rods, tools, unusual cleaning supplies, picture hangers, nuts & bolts, some plumbing, some electrical. The staff is helpful, polite and knows the stock. Oh, the kitchen annex, did I say that you can get All-Clad at sale price all the time. Also, it has waffle irons, coffee makers, griddles, potato peelers, glasses, Le Creuset, better baking glassware than anchor hocking, bathroom stuff, scales, ironing boards, irons. And did I say yet that the prices are good? With so many of my friends laid off from work, price matters a lot. read more

Super local hardware store. Everyone there is extremely helpful and friendly - and if one member can't specifically answer your question, they'll find the staff member who does know. Clean, organized, large inventory (huge basement). I wish more local hardware stores existed like this. Prices are maybe a bit more than giant Home Depot/Lowe's - but still very reasonable. 20 stars. Customer service is on point and then some, the staff at Green's really goes above and beyond. I was visiting often to buy items to fix up my cafe. They made my life MUCH easier by providing useful tips, knowledgeable information on the products, patience, and helping me bring my items out of the store. In addition to your typical hardware and paint needs they also have a good selection of items for the kitchen which are cute and reasonably priced. Fantastic hardware store right on Route 16, with friendly, helpful staff. It looks so small from the outside you can't believe all the merchandise they carry. They do a great job stocking the seasonal stuff you need in a timely manner and the store is pretty well organized, not a jumble like some hardware stores. I don't know that their prices are anything special but they are not exhorbitant, considering it's Wellesley, and if you're in the area it's worth it for the convenience of not having to find a big box store on the highway. read more

Great local hardware store. Staff is friendly, helpful and plentiful. They showed me right to what I needed and checked in frequently to see if I needed any help (and never in a way that made me wish to be left alone to my shopping). Good breadth of items, including a good kitchen section in addition to the usual hardware store fair. On this trip I picked up a number of bulky items. After checkout, before I could even think about how I was going to carry it all to the car (I'd brought it the checkout counter in a couple trips), the lad who rang me up grabbed most of it and said "Let me carry this out for you." Great store, great selection, and great staff. It's so nice not to have to go to Home Depot or Lowes, Local store, but with high end goods. I have bought a Weber grill, a Husqvarna snowblower, chain saw, etc. there. You pay a bit more, but the staff is knowledgeable, and have even come to my house to work on the snowblower (tuning it, etc). The big box guys will never do that. And that's worth a lot more. read more

This is a great local hardware store. Most times, they ask if they can help you as soon as you walk in, they know exactly where everything is and how it works, and you are in and out in minutes. They have a great selection of stuff, including kitchen items. Really beats the big box stores and the other main hardware store in Wellesley. read more

I wish I could add more stars! I've been going to Green's for at least five years, for everything home-related, large and small. Every time I do, I get a ton of advice, and it's really good advice (also, if I say I am "browsing", I am left alone to browse until my heart's content). What's really great about Green's is that they have done quality control for me. I love to comparison shop, and I love to shop on line. And Green's consistently has the highest quality merchandise. The prices are comparable to anywhere else, but I never have to buy something twice because I bought a low-quality tool the first time. I knew that when I wanted power tools, I wanted Stihl. But I didn't know that when I wanted gardening shears, that I wanted Felco. I also didn't know that I wanted MintCraft rakes and shovels. After buying (and using hard) lots of tools, I truly appreciate all the knowledge that goes into the products they carry. Great stuff! Fine tools that are a pleasure to use. Their kitchen store is outstanding, too. Henkels knives are fine, but I prefer Wusthof, and Green's has them! Boos Block? Yup! LeCruset (sp?)? Yup! Epicurean cuttings boards (that can be washed every day for five years and are still going strong)? Yup! Lodge cast iron cookwear? Yup! On and on. Also: they have their own parking lot on the side of their building, so you don't have to deal with metered parking. I just love this place! read more

I'm the Shoe repair guy down the block from these guys. So maybe I'm biased. But when you walk in there- they find for you what you want- right off the bat. I don't think I've spent more than 10 minutes in that shop looking for something or trying to pay for something. The service is beyond compare. I'm not sure if I pay more for basic items there than anywhere else- but if you are a contractor or a business that regularly needs hardware supplies and don't want to waste half an hour going up and down Home Depot Aisles the difference in price, if any, is worth it. Knowledgeable helpful friendly clerks are there as you walk in the door, to guide you to what you need and offer information on how to use it and do the job ~ old-fashioned service.. They have an amazing inventory ~ I always find what I want. When I bought a lawnmower, they delivered it to my house, filled with oil and gas, and gave me a lesson in how to operate it. They took away my old lawnmower. When I need to have it sharpened and cleaned, they will come and pick it up. read more
