From the very beginning, Chef Allen was incredibly communicative and went above and beyond to craft a menu that perfectly suited our family. The food was phenomenal--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented--but what made the night extra special was Allen himself. He is a joy to be around and fit in so naturally with our family that it felt like having a friend in the kitchen. My dad even told us afterwards that the evening was a 'core memory' for him. If you are looking for a private chef who brings both world-class talent and wonderful energy into your home, I cannot recommend Conscious Cooks enough!

He was very respectful of the property we rented, including wearing gloves for sanitizing, and cleaning up after himself, including running the dishwasher at the end. While cooking, he shared many beautiful stories about the island and his adventures, was able to provide recommendations, and is very knowledgeable about Kauai. The evening was more than just great food, but true entertainment as well which we really enjoyed. Our toddler really enjoyed interacting with him as well. We customized our menu in advance and everything came out perfect! Surf and turf, seafood paella, shrimp spring rolls, bruschetta, salad, and amazing assortment of desserts. I loved that absolutely everything was locally grown, and bought from local stores. I can't say enough good things about this experience. Allen was very efficient and a true joy to have in our rented condo for our family vacation. We will absolutely hire Allen again next time we are on the island. Mahalo!

She was patient not only with me while all the details were ever changing but she stayed in touch with me and walked me through all the details. She created a menu for the day and did all of the work from beginning to the end. She is a lovely soul and I wish I lived in town because I could use her help in my kitchen. The meal was amazing and fresh and the leftover were just as awesome. We also had her do a private yoga session for us. She was exactly what we were looking for. 1/2 of us were experienced and the other 1/2 were not. It was a great session for all of us. She was early/on time, she cleaned up after herself and was a pleasure to do business with. Check her out and you will not regret.

Marla herself is an absolute joy and her passion for food and health shines through brilliantly. I would highly recommend checking out her skills!

Well, we finally pulled the trigger on it and did the experience...and it was well worth it. Lance, the owner and instructor was fantastic. With only 8 spots available, you have to book this as soon as it is available. The shop is only 300 sq. Ft. So any more people would be too much and the set up was perfect. It is amazing this small space produces the chocolate! The overall lesson is great because he takes you from bean to chocolate. This is not tree to chocolate because he doesn't have the trees nor does he have the pods and that part of the collection process (however, Lance, if you or your wife are reading this, it might be a great future endeavor to have an option to work with one of your partners and add on the collection tour before!). While he doesn't have the collection process, Lance does an excellent job speaking to the process once beans are collected. From there, the chocolate making and tasting process is thoroughly explained and you are part of it. Finally, making your chocolate is a lot of fun and there are roughly 30 ingredients you can use for your 2 bars. I personally made: an Indian spice flavor chocolate for half a bar, coconut sea salt for second half, matcha coconut sea salt for 3rd half, and coffee bean sea salt for last). Bring your creativity! Thank you Lance for this fantastic experience.

Came back this summer to find it had expanded and renovated to an impressive degree. I appreciate the focus on local artists and creators, even tho there are a few bigger names on the clothing racks. The price of the crystal turtle sculpture was $218. I wasn't watching over the shoulder of the store clerk, a very young looking woman or late teenager, when she rang me up and put my items in a small brown paper bag with handles. I should have been watching. I assumed that she would wrap the turtle sculpture appropriately. When we left Kauai on May 30, 2026 to fly back home, my wife packed the bag containing the items I purchased in your store in my suitcase. When we got home and unpacked the suitcase, I took out the brown paper bag. I did not realize that somehow the brown paper bag had developed a tear in one of the side creases in the bag. I lifted up the bag from the suitcase laying open on the bed and moved it literally a foot away when the turtle sculpture slipped from the tear in the bag and landed on our tile floor. To our surprise and shock, we saw that the crystal sculpture had been wrapped only in a few sheets of extremely thin, colored wrapping paper and that, when I unwrapped the paper, the head and the rear flippers had broken off! Remembering the transaction, I recalled that the clerk had barely said anything. She did not ask if we wanted her to wrap the crystal turtle securely. Usually, when we have bought fragile items from an arts and crafts shop, the clerk either asks if we want the item packaged securely or voluntarily does it without us asking. As I said, the clerk looked young and acted as if she were new on the job. If not, she was not trained properly to either ask the customer if he or she wanted the fragile object packed securely or hadn't been trained well enough to know that it should be packed securely. Then she placed my items in a flimsy, defective paper bag that tore easlly at its seam, allowing the object to slip out. The principal causes of the breakage of the turtle were: 1) the negligence of the young, inexperienced or poorly trained clerk to package the object securely or to even ask me if wanted it packed securely, and 2) placing the object together with two heavier, bulkier items in the flimsy, defective, easily tearable paper bag that was provided I requested the owner of the shop to refund the purchase price of the turtle but he has refused, adopting a "Once it's out the door, it ain't my problem anymore" stand.
