Funtastic for the whole family Lance is a great cacao bean to chocolate bar teacher and chocolate maker. Interesting background ( starting with how and why of beans) and then interesting and FUN making our own custom bars!!! Lance's story on owning the chocolate factory was awesome. Whole family found awesome. Will probably come back on our next visit to kauai- it was that much fun

We had such a fun time doing the create your own bar class. First, what a great idea. This is such a fun class whether you're visiting with kids, on a date or with a group. Second, Lance was awesome. He kept everyone involved and engaged the whole time. He was so informative and injected some humor during the 90 minutes. It honestly went by so fast. Last, the part when you are creating the bars was so much fun. Our family loves chocolate and candy, so we were all in for this. There were more than enough toppings to make some great chocolate bars. All in all this was a really fun way to spend 90 minutes. I highly recommend this. If I find my way back to Kauai, I'd love to do this again.

My daughter and I did the Build a Bar class and it was so much fun. We learned a lot about cacao and how it goes from farm to chocolate as we know it. We got to make two chocolate bars each and there were so many options for add in's! I did chili powder, pineapple, and sea salt; it was delicious! Lance knows so much about making chocolate; he was great. Bonus points for being a nut free kitchen!

My sister and I had an amazing hour with Lance. Lance is the sole owner and employees. We made Santas for the holiday. These not some itty bitty thumb sized Santa's either. Santa was a full bodied jolly fellow at 4 oz of yummy mess. When our Santa's chilled in the fridge hardening. We colored and Lance read Christmas stories. I highly recommend this activity for families with children. However, as two sixty something ladies we had a blast.

I nearly gave up looking for some fun cooking, culinary or chocolate-tasting experience in Kaua'i. Then I found Wild Kaua'i Chocolate and immediately signed up for the chocolate bar class. Wild Kaua'i Chocolate was easy enough to find. Wife dropped me off for my adventure. I think I asked Lance more questions than he knew was possible in a single day, and he graciously indulged my curiosity. I walked away two bars richer and smarter with a great memory. And the bars are DELICIOUS!

Lance teaching a class how to hand temper chocolate in the "Build a Bar" class.

I loved the fact that Lance allowed me to do all the tasks rather than just lecture and demonstrate. I am not interested in running a business, but for those who are, included, is pertinent information about how to set one up, valuable information for anyone who wants to make chocolate for a living. The shop is small but productive, and is a gluten, nut and dairy free operation, in keeping with the original owner's intention. In addition to the intensive I attended, they offer inexpensive 3 hour, "build a bar" chocolate classes where visitors can learn about chocolate making, temper chocolate and make two bars of high quality chocolate that can be flavored with a variety of ingredients from the shop's vast collection. Lance allowed me to create many flavor combinations using the chocolate left over from one of the classes. All in all a great experience! Thank you Lance!

Omg! Phenomenal chocolate. My hubby is a major dark chocolate fan, and their chocolates put a huge smile on his face. We bought three bats (sorry guys, none will be gifts for friends & family). We got a chance to taste several different options, and we splurged...buying three --peppermint with 70% dark numminess, the 70% bar. and the specialty bar of cardamom and 70% dark chocolate bliss. This is craft chocolate and worth the price. After watching the master chocolatier hand cutting and wrapping bars into their custom packaging, we fully understood the love that goes into making each bar. The place is not easy to find--the sign is small. Park by the coffee place and walk in front of the building. The door and tasting room are hobbit size, so don't take too many friends. Four guests fit comfortably. Chocolate tasting was free between 12p and 3p. Chocolate bars are available in a couple of local stores if you miss tasting times.

Hmmm what flavors should I add?

We live in the North Shore and made a group reservation to learn about chocolate. Boy was it fun! He is very clean and organized in his kitchen and we were about to ask questions at the end and create our own willie wonka chocolate bars! Highly recommend this place!

What a fun experience! A charming little storefront with the most gracious and knowledgeable host. If you like chocolate, and would love to know more about its history, how it grows, and how it's processed, then this would be a great experience for you. 90 minutes of information, participation, tastings, and leaving with two chocolate bars you made and flavored yourself! It was a fun way for me to spend a morning on the day we were leaving the island. Colorado transplant Lance is extremely passionate about his love for chocolate and his business, please support him in his chocolate endeavors! I don't think anybody realizes how labor-intensive a bite of delicious chocolate can actually be. Good information to know for some; they are gluten-free, dairy free, and nut free, so people with these concerns need not worry!

We booked here for the day after we toured the lydgate chocolate farm - they pair great together from being out in the field seeing the trees, process, history to getting in the kitchen with Lance the next day to experience the finishing product process where lydgate leaves you. Very friendly and fun atmosphere and you get to build two of your own chocolate bars.

I had the absolute honor of attending the Lydgate Farms Kaua'i Chocolate tour during my first (but…read morecertainly not last) trip to Kaua'i with my mom. And let me tell you, it will not disappoint! It is absolutely a once in a lifetime experience. Our tour guide Brooke was outstanding in teaching us all there was to learn about Kaua'i cacao beans, the fermentation process, incredible chocolate tasting notes, and other fruits and nuts that are unique to Kaua'i and Hawai'i. I am not a "chocolate person", and while I only attended this tour out of admiration for the cacao bean and chocolate making process, I must say Lydgate's chocolate is truly unique and worth the visit. It is unlike any other chocolate I have ever tasted. Lydgate Farms' other products-- honeys, chocolate covered macadamia nuts and chocolate covered coffee beans-- are incredible as well. My personal favorites were the honey roasted macadamia nuts and chocolate covered coffee beans, which I bought. In addition to the extraordinary tour (thank you Brooke!! Seriously, you are fantastic!!) and souvenirs we enjoyed, one of the more memorable parts of this whole experience was hitching a ride back to our hotel in Lihue from Lydgate's Marvelous Maintenance Guy, Mike. Mike saw me and my mom struggling to get a Lyft back and offered us a ride back. A journey that would have taken us 5 hours to walk became a precious 25 ish minute drive where we got to both share our stories about what led us to Kaua'i. Mike was so sweet, he made me and my mom feel so safe-- especially as two young women traveling by ourselves for the first time. It is welcoming and kind people like Mike who put the "ohana" in the "Lydgate Farms Ohana" name and make Kaua'i what it is. This was a beautiful experience, and I can only hope that I can visit again in my lifetime.

Our tour was led by Henry, who was equally knowledgeable as he was passionate about all of the plants & flowers. He clearly had a passion for chocolate and the mission to educate visitors. We were introduced to the cocoa trees (the process of growing and maintaining the orchards), vanilla vines, ginger plants, allspice trees, cherry and guava trees to name just a few. He informed us on what was edible from the trees. The "pit stops" were interactive, fun & most of all tasty. We got to sample a whole variety of exotic fruits from the farm & a wide range of chocolate during the chocolate tasting. I don't think I will ever be able to think of chocolate in the same way again. How lucky we are to have this farm working so hard to not only bring the craft of chocolate creation to more people but continuing to mindfully curate this bio-diverse plant sanctuary.

The playlist on board was spot on, setting the perfect vibe. I wish I could find it on Spotify! Despite the weather, the views were breathtaking, and getting a little drenched just added to the adventure. The food was delicious, especially the smoked pork, salad, and fresh fruit, and my husband loved the mai tais. Even without the sunset, the whole experience was magical. Price was $250 per person and we booked a couple days before the tour date. (we went at the end of March - the weather was fantastic and not too hot, also not raining). Although it was pricey, I felt like it was worth the experience and highly recommend anyone do a tour, even if it's not with this company. We got back to shore around 7-7:30pm, so total time was 5 hours ish. Pros: - the Na Pali coast is BEAUTIFUL - the views were truly a once in a life time experience for me and I saw the fullest rainbow I've ever seen - The tour guide was super informative, we learned a lot about whales, and they also taught us a lot about certain mountains and waterfalls that we passed on the Na Pali Coast (like where Kauai kings were buried). - We stopped to watch whales multiple times and it was really cool! - The 3 staff working on board the ship were extremely helpful in answering questions, providing drinks, and instructing people from a safety perspective - Safety - I felt very well taken care of the whole time. It's a barefoot cruise but people can choose to keep their shoes on if they want. They provided bags for people feeling nauseous and gave good advice when people were feeling seasick. - Food provided - it's not fine dining or anything (chicken teriyaki, salad, etc) but it does beat having to pack your own food or go hungry around dinner time. Also unlimited alcohol or nonalcoholic drinks. - The staff helped us take photos and there's a lot of great photo opportunities at the coast - Champagne toast at sunset, which was beautiful to watch out on the water - bathrooms available on board - My husband didn't feel like eating on board due to the motion sickness so they were kind enough to pack a to-go box for us! - Parking was easy and the meet up location was easy to find - we stood outside for most of the ride since it felt better than sitting inside, so we did get a bunch of sea-spray and got super wet from the 10 ft swells, but it felt really fun! Cons: - I think they need to put a huge disclaimer with statistics or something to show people how common it is for people to get seasick and vomit. I think maybe 5 people from our whole boat got really sick and either fell or vomited during the trip (can feel a little weird enjoying the beautiful view while someone smells like vomit next to you lol). They do tell you at the beginning that you can walk away and get a full refund after hearing the captain briefing during the meet up starting spot, but I don't think they really emphasize just how many people get sick. I personally felt fine but I felt really bad for people who had to gut through the five hour round trip feeling terrible. bring Dramamine!! This was definitely a highlight of my first time in Kauai, I wouldn't necessarily do it more than once due to the price, but it was a fantastic experience for the views!

That was amazing cause I knew they did tours at their facility and charged a lot of money. The wife and I parked and got out of the car to check it out. When we arrived, there was already a tasting going on with quite a few people at the counter. Another lady came up to us and said that have we been into the store before. She said they offered free tastings and as soon as this group had cleared, we could just do the tasting. It was free. The group was done and so we went to the counter and started our tasting. They went through almost all of their chocolate and chocolate covered macadamia nuts too. I love dog chocolate, so of course we purchased the dark chocolate, and we purchased the chocolate covered coffee beans, which were amazing. My wife loved the honey roasted macadamia nuts, and the nippy roasted macadamia nuts so we got both of those in the large size. The lady packaged them in a padded bag that had a piece of ice in it. It reminded me of Japan and how they always took care of their product and made sure that it would make it home. It was an added touch that was so nice. I was so amazed that we could do the tasting for free when they charge at their facility a lot of money so it was nice to taste the chocolate before we bought them. Just like he said it'd be good to know what it taste like so we bought what we wanted and not got something that we didn't like. The staff was so nice there and so friendly.
