While staying in Sorrento, my husband and I came across The Horse Shoe, and it became our favorite place to go! The bartenders were extremely friendly and inviting, and always willing to play along with our antics (after a few Guinness of course). During one of our visits, we were lucky enough to catch a spot at the bar before a World Cup game, and the place got packed quickly. We met some amazing people (from Ireland no less), and loved the energy everyone brought. This is a fantastic pub with seating inside and out, and great service. We ended up going back every night, and were honestly bummed to leave it behind. If you're in Sorrento and looking for a laid back but fun spot to have a few cocktails and some fun, The Horse Shoe is IT! Great people and energy on both sides of the bar! read more

We spent 4 days in Sorrento and found this bar the first day. We loved it so much we came back every day twice a day! We met so many fun people. Had live impromptu karaoke sessions and danced all night! The owner is wonderful & had us laughing all night! 10/10 recommend!! read more

On the main strip and great decor. Looked like it had potential, so we Went for lunch with the kids. Other than the decor, uniforms, and that they serve beer and play live soccer matches, - The name is deceiving... it's the only Scottish association. Really friendly staff. ... but don't know what they are doing. The food looked nothing like the pictures. Had a burger for the kids, tagliatelle and lasagna (played it safe. ... in italy). I've seen thicker burgers at MacDonalds (€8), the pasta was slapped on a plate and noodles were pre cooked, with very little meat- disappointed. The lasagna was disgusting - it was like eating microwaved Kraft dinner with cheese -wiz. My kids didn't seem to care, but for €40 you expect some form of quality. Id try this place out to have a few pints and watch a game I had to see. Other than that there were way better options. For a quick bite, try kebab our insolato bar both a few steps away. read more

On holidays and husband accosted for using the bathroom. He called them out on it and they said billions come in everyday to use without paying. Meanwhile, wife (myself) outside waiting to order. That's not a good way to greet a customer last I checked. We went a head and ordered as planned then waitress backed up the owner by saying I didn't plan to order. Happy days!!! The mantra of luigi and Maria the owners. This pub is represented as a Scottish pub but there is nothing really Scottish about it but a great place all the same. Very welcoming with Maria and luigi treating us like family we spent every evening in the horse show for a week while on holiday on sorrento and would sit there till the early hours gathered round the table having such a great time with family and friends because it was that comfortable and laid back an atmosphere. read more

My partner and I have been traveling Europe for over 8 weeks. We've eaten a lot of food and this was the most disappointing meal of the whole trip. This place gets you in with the promise of good, cheap food. Something two travelers were keen for. We ordered a cheeseburger (7£) for me and fish and chips (9€ - the day's special) for my partner. After asking if the cheeseburger had chips and being told no I asked for chips as a side. To accompany the meal we also ordered two, small tap beers. The cheeseburger (which they claimed was amazing on the exterior signage) was nothing special, the chips were average, the fish was the size of my palm and clearly defrosted and served. Not what you would expect from our seaside location. The total bill came to thirty euro (10€ for our small tap beers, 4€ for the chips) and we left still hungry. The staff were nice and the place is cheery, run by an Italian husband and wife who speak great English. I'm writing this review from Pizzeria da Franco - yep, a second dinner. I've actually gone back and forth on writing this review for months, but I finally decided I wanted to say something. Last summer, my husband and I visited Sorrento for vacation. We've always loved pubs - they're usually extremely welcoming and fun - so we found ourselves at The Horse Shoe. The person working there was animated to say the least, moving around the bar, talking loudly, cracking jokes. We laughed along, enjoying our last night away from home and work. I heard my phone "ding," and when I looked down for a minute to respond, I heard a loud grunting in my ear. I turned around, and one of the workers was wearing a pig mask and snorting in my ear. He then took it off and started joking/talking with the rest of the patrons at the pub. I literally couldn't comprehend what had just happened. Am I overweight? Yes. But I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that this man was making a joke out of it loudly in front of the whole pub, who all laughed along. My husband, who barely ever gets angry, immediately wanted the check so we could get out of there ASAP. And - this is my favorite part of the whole exchange - the worker who had just basically called me fat in front of everyone told him, "Man, you know I was just joking." That was the closest we got to an apology. And it wasn't even to me, it was to my husband. I was literally shaking from embarrassment when we left. And when my husband asked what I wanted for dinner, I had to fight back tears. So, no. I do not recommend this pub. I will never set foot in there again. And for the record, my weight is something I can lose (I am now - not that this is any of your business), but you being a jerk is something you'll have to live with forever. read more

Looks like a sleepy little corner bar right on the main drag. You here some music coming from inside, and suddenly an older gent (gino) steps out and invites you in "have a happy day!!!!" he bellows. You have no choice but to stop in. Sitting at the bar, you easily can see this is a family affair. Gino's wife, (didn't catch her name) is in fact in charge, no matter what he thinks. With over 30 years at the same place,the family, including their daughter smile and serve cheer. He convinces patrons that a big beer is a better deal and hands 4 large bottles out and 2 sizes of glasses. He tells the ladies, just pour the large beer into a small glass....small size beer. The prices are decent, and Gino has what looks like almost every alcohol behind the bar. I ask for a Manhattan, and he pours the bourbon, but let's me eyeball the vermouth. This guy is fun, singing old Italian American songs in an impromptu karaoke session with customers taking part a verse at a time. Gino meets us outside as we exit, and thanks us for our business. Cozy, fun little spot with friendly service, decent draft beer selection, very much reminiscent of a mom and pop pub. The review is mainly for the aesthetics and drinks. Be sure to bring along some small denominations of your own home currency so you can affix your own forget-me-nots on the wall. Ask how much drinks are up front. No prices on show. Two Irish coffees €20! Way above what they should be and they were pretty awful.
