EXTREMELY UPSET of how one of the bartenders treated me. I walked up the street and realized I forgot to close my tab out. Went back in only a couple minutes later and the lady told me she didn't have my card. I KNEW for a fact that they did since it wasn't in my wallet... a nice lady corrected her and gave her my card and apologized from how the other bartender was acting. The RUDE bartender proceeded to say that I left a long time ago... not sure where the hell she went to school to come up with the math that a couple of minutes equals a long time, but they already closed out my card for me... if I am mistaken, majority of businesses close out a tab at closing time when the card is left??? Everyone else in the facility was very nice and I have never had a bad experience until now. I feel very disrespected :/ read more

Too bad there is no "incomplete" rating for joints on Yelp. I've been to my share of bars in my xx years on this planet, and I have never been to a place like The Hub on Main. It's as if we had stepped into a David Lynch movie. Tony, the barkeep, was playing darts on the mechanical board and we were the only people in the place. He reluctantly came over to take our drink order. I'm used to Virginia, where bars are legally obligated to have a functioning kitchen, and apparently in Iowa that's not a law. But he suggested ordering a pizza from the place next door, and bringing in to the bar. The bar was long and clearly made for live music, which they didn't have on the Sunday night we visited. Instead they had Comedy Central blasting on the big screen. There was a painting of JFK that adorned one of the walls; not quite the decor you'd find in a joint like this. Tony told us the crew who renovated this old warehouse to open the bar found the painting behind one of the sealed walls. At some point in the evening, downtrodden Iowa ladies came in: They were either pot growers, pot dealers, or unkempt hookers. They talked trash, looked like trash, and seemed intrigued with us. This is our favorite go-to place before 9:00. Awesome retro-style decor (just remodeled), great drink specials (Triple Bubble anyone?), fantastic tap selection and the staff is always friendly. Very clean, including the bathrooms. Before 9:00, has more of a laid back atmosphere, with people getting drinks before or after dinner. After 9:00, it becomes more of a club, with DJ, lights, and dance floor. read more

Decent bar with a lot of dancing space. The bar is set up more towards the entrance in the center, kind of like an island. Decent wait time for the drinks and they seemed really nice.They had there own mixed drinks and craft beers in bottle and on tap.The DJ played a good mix but, the dance floor did not have that many people dancing. The cool thing is that they had a railing around the walls so people could post up against the wall and put their drinks down. Overall, a bar for locals and somewhat fun when its busy. read more

I've got used kleenex with better personality than this place. The potential was there but it was just horrible. Bartender was cold and pre-occupied while the other customers seemed very shady. Not a very friendly place, expensive, and you won't see me back. read more

Thirteen ladies were together for a girls weekend. We stopped in on a Friday night around 6:00. The two female bartenders were so rude and seemed annoyed the we came in even though there were only a handful of people in the bar at the time. We visited with a table of people who were very nice. We didn't stay long, decided to spend our money somewhere that appreciated our business. read more

Showed up during some thing called "Triple Bubble" where they gave me three beers for the price of one. Five stars!

I've been going to this bar for quite some time now. I like the atmosphere, but not the people that work there. I've had bad experiences with bartenders and other staff that work there. My friend lost her cell phone and credit card when we went out to the bars one night, and the Hub was on of the bars that we went to. When I called the next day to ask if they had seen it, the staff member that I talked to was very rude. He seemed irritated to answer any question that I had and was extremely rude to me about the whole situation. He seemed rushed and annoyed that I had called him in the first place. This isn't the only bad experience that I've had here with the staff. The bartenders also have typically been rude to me. When this bar isn't crowded, bartenders take their time getting your drink order and then when you finally do get the drinks, they aren't very good and most of the time, it isn't even the drink that you ordered in the first place. I really liked going to this bar because of the atmosphere and it is a very clean and fun bar, but now after these many bad experiences with the staff I don't know how much I'll be going back here. Especially because there are many other bars in Dubuque that have bartenders and staff who are much friendlier and efficient. read more
