It's bad enough to have to check a loved one into an assisted living facility. The Charlotte hides…read morebehind the contract one is forced to sign to gain admission. There are no options not to pay via ACH. There are no options outside of paying a monthly fee to use your preferred pharmacy They failed to honor several rights we had in the contract including: 1) to be treated with respect, consideration and dignity - this applies to senior management at the facility in being rude, lying, and being non responsive to calls or emails while holding the family and resident to a higher standard, 2) to receive adequate and appropriate care and services - be it failing to do laundry or losing items (often I had to do it myself), or in billing by adding fictitious charges and ach"ing money without informing that they were too busy to deposit a check, 3) Even the owner of the facility at Senior Living Facilities failed to properly acknowledge and investigate my complaint. Not only do they drastically overcharge they have no awareness that the facility I took my mom to after 2 months is over 2,000 a month cheaper yet even with all these documented failures was not interested in refunding any money. The issue with their pharmacy was worked out after almost 3 months when they wrote the entire bill off. For 10 years my mom paid less that it charged me for 2 months, yet The Charlotte didn't care, or look into a different pharmacy. By comparison when I explained why would not use their preferred pharmacy and documented it, that pharmacy was replaced. I wouldn't bring my worst enemy here

The only reason I give this place a 1 Star rating is because I have to or there would be no stars…read more I am not sure where I should start..... my father chose this place and was happy to live here.. things where okay for about the first year. After that first year sunrise went down hill!!! Way down hill... my father went to the hospital and family was never called!!!! The first call I got was from the hospital it self. A doctor calling me about what had happen. I had to tell the doctor I would call her back. I the proceeded to call sunrise to A) find out what happen to my father and B) why my family was never called. Of course there was no good reasons. They just did not do there job. This place is more then happy to take your money BUT once they go to the hospital the will continue to charge you for daily stuff even if they are not doing it.. I have pictures of my fathers room and how it sat dirty for two weeks. They decided to clean it up the day he was coming home.. how do I know??? Well my husband and I would stop by daily to check on his mail and keep a eye on his room. Picture 1 is of his closet ( I thought he was getting the care he needed but I guess not) pictures 2,3,4 are of his kitchen are were food was left on the floor and countertop for two weeks!!! The pictures speak for them selfs.Another thing you see is the major turn over in staff. I mean one day you think you know everyone and the next day all new staff. Another thing I noticed is my father was dirty when I picked him up as his clothes were too. I had spoke to the staff about getting the next level of care for him (which of course cost more money). O never saw the improvement on this either. Also the care director is EXTREMELY RUDE and when talking to her (she would not give me her name) she would never let me finish my sentence. If you care for your loved one's you will not put them here as they really do not care about the family member, they just care about getting a pay check!!! I would take my business else where if you are Reading this!!! BEWEAR!!!! Just read the other post!!!

After a stroke, she could barely walk or talk and with the loving care from the staff and nurse she is back to the person our family remembers. The seniors go out to lunch twice a week and there is always music and laughter in the building. My aunt is in a Sunrise in Maryland and she is doing fantastic as well. Sunrise knows how to run these homes so definitely decided on your own.
