We didn't have a reservation but they were able to get us in! (I highly recommend a reservation, we tried again and were sadly turned away) Dinner was delicious, appetizers amazing. We all really enjoyed our meals. We were aware that they had a party with a reservation coming in soon, and we were delightfully full, but the two gentlemen at the table next to received their dessert as we received our bill! None of the pictures I took do it justice, but this place is insanely beautiful!! We got seated in the back in the curved booth and there was a beautiful light above us and the entire restaurant is just so pretty, sort of tropical themed, sort of just delicate pastel light. This restaurant was so beautiful and I wish my pictures did it justice and I was shocked to see the pictures on Yelp because I don't think any of them do it justice as well. The food was super good. However beware that the buttermilk pancakes are a tiny tiny portion, explaining the cheaper price of them! We went for a lunch/brunch thing and I think that's the absolute perfect time to come here. We were in Westminster visiting Abbey Road (you know, the Beatles' Abbey Road). My fiancee and I took the train from the hotel here. We actually walked right past the Road because we were following GoogleMaps. And GoogleMaps said to keep walking, so we did. And we ended up walking about half a mile past the actual Road. When were realized our mistake, we were both like, "Well sh*t." So we had to walk all the way back. Needless to say, we finally found the Road and the Abbey Road studio. His sister met us at Abbey Road and laughed at us for going the wrong way. We proceeded to walk about the area and decided to get brunch. We looked up some places and found this restaurant. I decided to make a reservation, just in case. This place gives an air of fanciness without the pretentiousness. It is super nice on the inside. I think we may have sat there for a while though before a waiter got to us. It wasn't too crowded though. My fiancee got the Full English Breakfast and his sister and I shared a Lox Eggs Benedict, which was amazing and came with a crumpet. English Breakfast places are some of the best places to get food. A beautiful old world but yet modern setting in St Johns Wood neighborhood in London. The Ivy is a very comfortable, classy and gorgeous place to dine at. The service is superb and we felt like the royals dining here. Ordered the blackened cod, steak/truffles special and duck curry for dinner. Each dish was flavorful with delicate taste of spices. I would have wanted the steak more tender but it was prepared as ordered, medium rare.... For dessert, we ordered the Chocolate Bomb. The presentation, flavor and small chunks of crispy fudge inside the ice cream. The dessert was an amazing flavor and texture between the chocolate, caramel what chocolate mousse. Yummmm. Very good place near my hotel. As a visitor of this great Awesome Country Cafe IVY was such an awesome place to start my food fest. This place looks just as good as the food. Very dim and romantic setting. This is also a great place to take a friend, a colleague, or even just the family for a good dinner out. The service was also something to give prasies about. Our servicer was very attentive and also had great recommendations. We started with fried aracchini and fried zucchini frittes. Very good and crunchy and ouuuu soo delicious!! For entrees I had a rib eye steak and my wife had the chicken dourguignon. Hmmm hmmm good!!! We stopped by on the recommendation of our concierge. Upon walking in, we noticed several tables open, with one outdoor with no one there. We approached the hostess asking if we could be seated there. She gave us a look of distain and sighed, saying I lhave to check our reservations list. We were confused wondering why if there were so many open tables. We waited 15 minutes, standing outside watching others leave, wondering when she was going to let us know. She never came back. I finally went back inside and let the well dressed waiter that they needn't keep looking at their reservation list and we were leaving. I really wanted to give it a great review because it's such a cool looking place!! If you're having a drink there it's probably a 5 - the cocktails looked amazing. But I dropped a star because the food was just ok. I ordered the wagyu burger - a scrumptious "sounding" £20 burger. And come on guys, if you charge that much please make it look better than a Mac Donald cheeseburger with salad! It tasted ok, nothing to write home about. Desert was fantastic - as I'm not really a desert person I was impressed. And service - minus a star again. Everyone was nice, don't get me wrong but... we were seated and they forgot menus. They brought out our arancini balls but ermmm.. no plates. They brought out our desert and a spoon had muck on it. And at one point a drink was dropped on a patron and they had to go home and change. My husband, son and myself stopped by The Ivy today in St. John's Wood and asked the waiter if we could sit outside. There were many empty tables. He said to go ask the women inside. We saw the inside had many empty tables as well. It was 5:40 in the afternoon. The hostess we spoke to said she could only seat us inside and that we would have to be done and leave by 7:50. Did we want a table anyway? We said, you tell us, would it take that long? She stared blankly. What a bad vibe. We just chose to leave. Did not leave a good impression. Will obviously avoid next time we are in London. Poor customer service to say the very least. read more

Do not go to this resturant they are RACISTS!!! I went there with my wife and we are both of African decent. walking by the resturant we looked at the menu and server asked us if we wanted to sit and coverts us to eat there. The resturant was at the most 25% occupied and the server told us to have a seat where we liked. We were about to sit down and a woman came running out and told us that they were fully booked. I looked around and said where?. After asking for alternatives She said there were no reservations available and no available seating outside or inside. She made it clear that we weren't wanted in this resturant. She was rude unprofessional and just wanted us to go. I questioned her about our race and she just walked off. This is obviously a racist resturant and with everything going on in the world it's sad to see people still living a racist life stopping people of color from having a equal life. When you first walk in you see the bar and the decor. The staff is very attentive and courteous. The bartender is a wonderful mixologist. The food is fresh and perfectly cooked. The chief does a nice presentation of the food that leave his kitchen. When you go please try the grilled sea bass it was divine. What a pleasant surprise! I love the decor of this restaurant, so original and elegant, yet comfy. I stopped at the bar on the way to our table and asked the barman if he knew how to make a good American-style martini which he assured me he did. And he did. The food was top drawer although the server brought me fried calamari (which I'd asked about) rather than the prawn cocktail (which I'd ordered). I had the very tender sirloin steak with a dreamy green peppercorn sauce and perfectly fried chips. Considering the quality of the food, it wasn't very pricey for London. And although I really loved this place, the service really let me down. I had to beg repeatedly to get my water glass refilled. I finally had to get up and find the host to order a second drink because our server had simply disappeared. Dirty plates and glasses were left on the table for the entire meal even after I indicated they needed to be taken away. And sadly, the poor service remains the most enduring memory of this lovely evening. They'd have had four stars except for that. read more

We didn't even make it out of the restroom before a waiter with rank breath and a thick asked us where we were from, and when we replied "America" he retorted in a condescending tone, "I know you're from America, where are you from in this restaurant? Do you have a table here?" Then the hostess told us we can't bring hot tea into the restaurant, despite walking a mile in cold weather from our hotel to the restaurant. Excellent service, charming ambiance, and yummy food. We did not have reservations, but it was no bother because we found two seats waiting for us at the bar, and the service and menu were still outstanding. My husband enjoyed the lobster benedict, while I noshed on a tastey comfort dish of mouth watering shepherd's pie (the first of such that I have preferred to my own). Best gin and tonic I have ever had. Worst wait service I've ever witnessed. Ordered a cappuccino at 10:30, which arrived rather promptly, however, by 10:45 my partner and I had finished our cappuccinos and sat and waited for our server to bring our bill. Upon ordering said cappuccino there were tables of people around us wrapping up their meals. By the time we were finished our cappuccino the entire restaurant was empty, and we were left waiting for wait staff in awkward silence while they folded napkins etc. At 11:20 we had decided that we were fed up after waiting over half an hour for service in an empty restaurant and got up and put on our coats and stood by our tables, to which they finally asked if we had paid. Beyond that, the tartare I had ordered tasted more of onion than meat, and my chips were worse than that of a fast food restaurant. My partner said their meal was excellent, so I can't rightly say all of their food was that rubbish, but I do concur this was the worst service I have ever received, so much so that I created a yelp account and downloaded a bloody app to tell you about it.
