It has been almost two years since my experience but I decided to write this review after someone…read moreasked me about my experience. I unfortunately had my wedding ring crushed in a car for. Luckily my hand was saved by my ring but it took a horrible blow. In fact I had it cut and pulled apart to have it removed. It was devastating! I decided to visit Sophie's as it was three only jeweler open at the time and I was anxious to have it assessed and repaired . When I went in I had a great experience and was assured by the owner the ring could be repaired. A few weeks later I received a call my ring was ready by an older gentlemen. When I went it to pick up the ring I was pleasantly surprised at how well it looked. I was talking to the owners father about how shocked I was. After looking it over more in amazement I saw a small defect near the top under the setting of a small accent stone. When I pointed it out to the gentleman he looked it over and said it was fine and wouldn't be a problem. Given the condition my ring was in when I dropped it off I was not unhappy with the slight defect and believed the "expert". One month later I looked down to see the stone in the defected setting was gone! I was upset about the stone but had to believe the jeweler would replace the stone given that it was from the setting that I was assured was fine. When I returned to the store I was greeted once again by the same older gentleman. As I showed him the setting he told me it would be an easy fix. He began writing up a ticket and stared taking down my information. He began telling me about the cost of replacing the stone. This prompted me to ask if the previous work was guaranteed since it had only been a month since my visit. He began to get very short with me and said how could he sure I hadn't damaged the ring myself. I was shocked! I said this is the same setting I pointed out when I picked up the ring. Of course he said if I thought the ring was damaged I shouldn't have taken it with me. Again I was completely in shock! I had pointed it out and was assured it wasn't a problem but I guess I shouldn't have trusted the jeweler. While still holding my ring he said something along the lines of oh that's what you were getting at you think I should give you a free diamond. My memory is a bit fuzzy of the exact words but not the way he made me feel. I felt like he was accusing me trying to commit fraud. I was always taught to respect my elders so I bit my tongue, took my ring and walked out. I was so angry! I took my ring to a different jeweler and had it repaired. They were so nice when I arrived that I actually broke down. It was a great experience and my husband and I have been back several other times to purchase additional pieces. In addition my ring is still intact and defect free!!

This place has a great deal of antiques neatly on display and it features a lot of great stuff I was primarily looking for cool outdoor items for display while my wife was looking for cool kitchenware that was nostalgic. This place has decent finds at decent prices as well overall it was a really casual antique store experience but it does offer the most compared to other antique stores in this area

There was a variety of antiques packed into one store and I was in heaven. I came to Wisconsin on a girls weekend to get out of the city. My roommate, a Baraboo native, always comes back from home with cool furniture or jewelry that she finds in Baraboo antique stores so I was excited to try and find my own treasures. Our first stop in Baraboo's quite happening antique scene was Oak Street Antiques and Yarn Nook. We met up with my roommate's mom who was checking out as we walked in, but I was immediately distracted by a trunk full of wrapped presents. They were all $2 and labeled with the age range that the item inside would be appropriate for. I stood there for a good 5 minutes talking myself out of purchasing an armload full of them because I love a bargain and a surprise. After I got over my irrational urge to buy all the surprises, I started to look around the store. I really liked the layout and flow of the store. There were items everywhere, but I never felt overwhelmed and there was always room for 2+ people to move about. The front right corner of the store is the "yarn nook" section where you can buy all types of yarn and accessories and in the back left corner, there were a few ladies sitting around a large table and knitting. The back right corner has a room full of clothes, from old fur coats to shoes, to purses. The remainder of the store is full of items from postcards, cast iron, jewelry, books, boy scout uniforms, sleds, furniture, and tons of other unique items. There were quite a few items that piqued my interest but I had to resist as they were not practical purchases. I can't wait for my next trip to Baraboo to check out the new inventory at Oak Street Antiques!
