I am giving 5 stars for the Joint, not because it's fine dining, but it is great for what it is - a dive with great food, nice bartenders, and you can watch the Vikings or play some pull tabs. The broasted chicken is great, I got it with the au gratin which were so cheesy and delicious. With enough room in the parking lot to park a trailer, this is a stop I will make every time I venture to the north woods. read more

Had a light lunch here a few days ago and enjoyed it enough to come back for the recommended Sunday breakfast. Unfortunately it was a disappointment. Four of us in the party, two meals were acceptable the other two , not so much. We were told that the corned beef was homemade but what we got was canned. There was no option for the eggs which arrived over cooked and with broken yolks. The side orders of sausage were burned into unrecognizable lumps. The service is great! We have a large party and food came out hot and everyone was very happy with their order. Kind of noisy, but we did okay with that. Not a game changer. I highly recommend the broasted chicken and the Reuben sandwich in particular. read more

I love this place! The homemade soups are really delicious as are the homemade desserts. Their broasted chicken is about the best around, and Thursday night rib special is my favorite! Best walleye in the world too. The staff is an amazing crew and although they get busy from time to time, they always take care of their tables, their customers and each other. We usually have good food and service. But not on our last visit. They were busy. Our waitress was good at the beginning and then dropped us completely, she ignored us the rest of the evening. Watched her take care of all the other tables, just not ours. Bartender brought us our food, our orders were wrong. One meal was edible but not right. I ate my fries. We sat and waited for our bill, no luck. Went to the kitchen entrance to ask for bill. When our waitress finally brought our bill, I had my card ready, she glanced at it on the table and left us again waiting for her to come back to take it. We were there along time. Nice little surprise upon walking in. This is not some little hick eating and drinking establishment. They get a good business from the locals that keep it busy and they have a fairly large menu and plenty of the correct drink glassware to make any cocktail you may order. They had a few screw ups with my food order but ya know what, they came and made it right with no prompting on my part so they are alright in my book. Liked the atmosphere and the crowd. GO... TO... THE... JOINT! We went to The Joint, Sunday June 30, 2019 For dinner and some drinks. We've been coming to this area for over 30 years and have never been to this place. Shame on us! The Joint was over half full, and we found two spots at the bar. Our bartenders name was Matt. Want to see someone who does their job amazingly well and even hustles? That's Matt. We ordered the broasted chicken plate and a brisket burger. Chicken was perfect, and the burger was one of the best hamburgers we've ever had. The broasted chicken takes a while to make. So they were able to time a medium rare hamburger to come out with the chicken at the same time and all done perfectly. This place is only a few minutes up the road from the Y in Garrison. We've been so disappointed with the Y for years. It's wonderful to know there's a place just a little farther north that is so amazing. Head to The Joint. You will not be disappointed! read more

We have driven by this place for years and finally decided to give it a try. We did take out and the food was fantastic! The half broasted chicken was tender came with fries and coleslaw. The California burger was done perfectly with really fresh lettuce and tomato. The sweet potato fries were good and crispy, not soggy. Will definitely come back and hopefully dine in. read more

This place is a hidden gem on lake mille lac. My wife and i stopped in today for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. We'd never eaten here before and just stopped in on a whim. It may look a little rough on the outside but the inside has been updated and is very nice and cozy. The servers were friendly and helpful, the prices were reasonable, and the food was definitely good! I had the taco wrap, my wife had the burger, and we both enjoyed our food. Next time I'm in the area I'll be dropping in again. The bonus (in my wifes eyes) were the cleanliness of the bathrooms. My family of four stopped at the Joint on a cold February Sunday on our way from Grand Rapids. The restaurant was quiet with just a few occupied tables. The premises are clean and well kept. Service was prompt and attentive, the server filled our glasses when needed. Overall the food was good. Our group ordered the steak burger, CA burger and bacon cheeseburgers. The bacon on the cheeseburgers was very good. The onion ring on the steakhouse burger was crunchy and had the perfect amount of A1. We'll stop here again! read more

So this place was called Players in the past. I had not visited when it was Players, but have been to the Joint a couple of times, and I think it is great. The outside of the place does not look like much but the inside is very nice and comfortable. The service is great and the food is very good, especially for the area. Its a fun place to bring kids for lunch or dinner, and they usually have one craft beer on tap which I appreciate. I like the Joint. The Joint has recently remodeled, now they need to work on the kitchen. The quality of food is not there. Ever consider some fresh spring greens instead of a wilted bag of pre cut ice berg lettuce? Every time I try to give this place a try, I am disappointed in the food quality. This last week, deep fried mushrooms were the appetizer 'special' for the day. Understanding that these would come out of a bag from the freezer we ordered them. Usually they are too hot to eat for a few minutes, instead the first one I ate was cold. The second, FROZEN inside. Mostly bar food. I was interested in hearing that the Joint would be focusing on the quality of the food. I ordered onion rings and they were from a package and thrown in the fryer. It is so incredibly easy to pre-slice sweet onions, dip them in a beer batter when ordered, and serve a quality product. Burgers do not come close to the hand made patties at local competitors.
