Well, the epic of finding great food in the North Country has lead us to the Barking Dog Saloon and…read more so glad it did!!! We moved to Colton almost three years ago from Boston and now we regret not coming here sooner. We took a great sampling of the menu and enjoyed every dish. The 2 burgers were cooked perfectly- 1 medium and 1 medium rare. The fries were very crunchy and held its own. My mummy got the fish fry - the only negative was perhaps the fish was overcooked and hard to eat- the beer batter tasted great though but I would suggest a min less on the deep fry. The chicken wings were fantastic, ally juicy -( we choose the golden bbq known more in North Carolina) even my husband enjoyed them and he does not like saucy food. The large portion of boneless chicken rings would be even a meal with a light salad. Great crunchy Onion rings that hold their own. Mozzarella sticks were nice. The Buffalo Egg rolls were very mild which was great for my family but I enjoy them on the hotter side. I really adore fried pickles and the batter they used held up to the juicy pickle:). I would like to see if in future they offer pickle chips and not just the spears. The only other thing I would point out- the blue cheese dipping sauce could be better. Needs more- maybe if they added real blue cheese chunks. Overall great experience, nice staff and a cosy dining room and bar. At the time we picked up the take a way there were four tables full families The Barking Dog Saloon is off the beaten path but entirely an adventure to find it so worth it. We only are able to go out once a month but I am sure this will be our go to place- maybe the next time try their Chicken Parm Sandwich. Keep up the good work- you have a diamond of a place.

The dinner party had a hard time deciding what to eat. It all sounded and looked great. Eventually choosing different burgers and a cheesesteak. We loved the choices for sides. Everything came out hot and delicious. The burgers were big and very juicy, with great flavor, and the cheesesteak hit the spot. The ambiance was classic eclectic covering the walls. This is a no-nonsense pub with great food, great beer and lots to enjoy once you find it.

One of the reasons we did come back was that the owner gave us a 50% off appetizer coupon being a new customer. After ordering our drinks, a big slide IPA for me and their version of a whiskey sour, we ordered our meal. We had asked for the small appetizer platter with mozzarella sticks, fried pickles, and onion rings. We also ordered an appetizer order of their bourbon sliders. What showed up was actually the large appetizer platter with everything on it and our bourbon sliders. I know we ordered the small platter but at least we only had to pay 50% of the large platter. Overall, it was not bad, just not good. The bourbon sliders were OK as well. Maybe it was us, maybe it was just that our bartender server seemed awfully overwhelmed? Whatever it was, it just wasn't the same as our first visit.

As a sucker for Irish pubs, the combination of food and live music had us sold. Walking in, the place has that well-worn, welcoming vibe you expect from a long-standing local favorite. Even on a busy Friday the 13th, the bartender/waitress greeted us with a huge smile and instantly made us feel at home--she deserves a raise! We grabbed a high-top, ordered drinks and food, and everything hit the mark--solid, satisfying pub fare. The live music was a treat too; the guitarist/singer was fantastic. Overall, our first visit was a home run. Friendly staff, good food, and great music--can't wait to come back!

They were understaffed and the servers were beyond frustrated with the manager and the way things were being handled. Our server (Brooke) was fantastic and was pushed to tears due to the way things are being handled by the manager. While Brooke (and the other servers) were great. The Manager was the total opposite. His approach was arrogant and quite condescending. He did not help to solve problems, only made things worse. Food was so backed up we ordered a couple pizzas and brought them to our table. And getting a drink was just as bad. I never did get my food order. It was too late (and after a few drinks) to leave and go elsewhere. And that patio is quite a nice location. Lots of space and comfortable. Overall The hotel is quite clean md modern and well appointed. Not fancy but quite nice. I will stay here again. If you want to eat or have a drink there are many more restaurants a a short drive away in downtown Cornwall that will leave you well fed and satisfied. The Jet Set is not one of them. They need to review this operation before it's too late.

He let us know he would take the food (which we never received) off the bill. He asked us if we wanted more drinks, and when we said yes, he told us we could order them at the bar. We asked, and they've only been open two weeks! It's a lovely English style pub with tin-looking walls and dark furniture - everything is new and tidy. There are booths to sit at, a long bar, and high tables near the window, so there are some nice seating options. We tried the cream of carrot and ginger (soup of the day) and it was outstanding. I tried the sandwich of the day, a roast chicken with caramelized onions on 'mediterranean' bread, which was a simple white bread with some bits of kalamata olives in it, I think. I had an option of fries, salad, or potato salad, and went for the salad, which was a pile of lovely fresh greens with a creamy balsamic on top. Another of us had the chicken leek casserole which was huge and tasty. With some tricky to find imports on tap like Newcastle brown and Old Speckled Hen, we really felt like we'd stumbled into a nice example of a UK pub in Brockville. They have a bunch of premium and imported options for beer on tap plus a reasonable wine list. Worth a stop!
