    Wagyu burger

Well it's graduation day so you have to expect it to be busy and maybe a limited menu but you should not be presented with a dinner only menu when you reserved a table for lunch ( 1:30 pm) and the website menu page displays two menus- one for Jake's graduation day dinner and one for Jake's graduation day lunch. Our preset table was prepared with dinner menus and upon questioning this was told only dinner options were being served. Honestly we were a party of ten and this changed the price point and would've greatly impacted our choice for lunch reservations. To be clear, the website still shows the lunch menu. Anyway it was chaotic, had to ask for water repeatedly, no soda refills , and the food is mediocre at best. Wagyu burger at $26 is the least expensive item in the dinner menu ( versus most expensive on the lunch menu) and it is good. The garlic aioli on the bottom bun renders the bun useless and I regret not requesting that on the side. All over salted and overpriced.

Drinks were bad. When asked the bartender l remake she looked super irritated. Carbonara was cold and flavorless. Chicken parm was enjoyed by my nephew. Our pizza was good.

Korean Pork Loin Hoisin rubbed with carrot ginger purée

The carrot ginger purée was divinely inspired. I'm a regular Atlanta diner. I've been dating an executive chef for nearly a decade. My palate is spoiled. But that was fantastic! The pork was perfectly cooked. Tender and flavorful. Then combined with the carrot purée, with it's perfect background heat and the fresh bitter micro greens. Chef's kiss! The wine list is still abysmal here. But Meg's (Mona/Holly) shakin' "French Blackberry Bramble" saves the day again. I do wish I could bring my own wine (I'll pay a cork fee!) Together, it's why I eat here once for ever 3 days I'm I town. And ALWAYS on the evening I arrive and the night before I depart. See you again soon!!

The contrast of lighting doesn't show this well, but we had an "interior" table tucked well back but still had a great river/lake/flow view.

Jake's has a high-end price point, justified by exemplary service and a lovely waterside location. (There are virtually no bad views from the inside, and there are outdoor seating options including picnic tables for to-go orders). The food is very well-prepared, if a little uninspired: it's what we used to call "TGI O'Houlihan Tuesdays", after the casual restaurant chains of a type, but much better executed. The fish and chips, for example, running over $20 but exquisitely done. It's still fish and french fries, but the breading was just right, the fish buttery and cooked exactly right. We appreciated the summer mocktail, which was a fairly original very dry non-alcoholic concoction, and there's a pretty decent set of beer options. The addition of relatively faddy appetizers (kung pao cauliflower, for example, instead of buffalo cauliflower) is a nice bonus. It's sui generis up here in this section of the north country (there's one truly haute cuisine restaurant between Canton and Potsdam, the 1844) so if you're looking for a "nice" meal that's just a little fancy but still within the American mainstream palate, it's perfect. Just be prepared to go over $100 in a hurry (with generous tip, and two beverages and a soft drink but no dessert, dinner for four clocked in at $150.)

Great view, great service, and great food. Ordered the Onion soup, Pretzels, and Red Snapper. Won't go into the nitty gritty but I enjoyed everything about my meal.

Live Love Jake's. This was such a great meal after graduation. Would give up my first born child for an unlimited supply of their maple butter (actually if that means giving up my cat nevermind - I just really like their maple butter. you get the point)

1st off they didn't even have our reservations when we got there so she decided to stick us in the corner. So glad the waitress Holley came and offered us a deck seat by water as we were told none were available by hostess. Bad on her part ! Do your job more efficiently... one of the problems with society today is "I'll do minimum effort". Everything else was excellent. Holley was on top n super friendly. It was worth the effort coming from 5 hrs away. Food is terrific everything was cooked well and no long delays. View from deck is tranquil. Definitely recommend but make sure they get your reservations..............

After exploring the area and striking out at couple other restaurants in the Potsdam area, I found this place and decided to take the quick drive. The original allure of course was the water. Entering with low expectations I was super happy to find the food is actually phenomenal. As a vegetarian options are always limited in certain areas of the country. The pizza, amazing. Fries, and amazing, portabello sandwich, fire!! Plus the staff are all super cool. Felt welcomed and went a lil extra on my first visit. Yes I came back the next day to eat. Stop be if you can

Their sommeliers are…read moreincredibly knowledgeable, care deeply and work really hard (without breaking a sweat) to bring classy service. Since the Buzz disappeared mid-pandemic, there has been a wine bar sized hole in the heart of Centretown. My first introduction to Buyers and Cellars was a birthday celebration where my friend treated me to a tasting. It was every bit as girly and glamorous as you imagine. We were all dressed up and sampled 5 wines - 1 oz each and "travelled" from the Alps of Switzerland and Italy to Chile. My friend and I chatted happily in between tastings while the sommelier regaled us with stories of each winery, how long they had been in business, and how many of the wines they sell can only be found here. Imagine! These rich tasting wines not available anywhere else in the country. The wine from the Alps , for example, is only made in very small batches. I bought a bottle and I was hooked. I have since gone back twice - once when I was in a pinch and couldn't get to the LCBO or it was close to closing - and this evening. The second time I came away with two bottles and a free glass of wine. Tonight, I stopped in to pick up a nice bottle of wine for dinner on Friday, and asked if it wasn't too busy if I could sit and have a drink. The sommelier happily obliged and poured me three 1oz glasses, each of a rossa, carmeniere and a Croatian red wine. The Croatian, called Dika, was my favourite, so I bought two bottles ($60). The bartender comped my tasting, and I was happily on my way... but I'll be back!

When we went into 10Fourteen, the first thing I said was, "this is exactly how I would design a bar if I had one." The small venue was decorated in browns, grays, blacks and whites, with chalkboards, bubble lights, chunky mirrors, painted quotes on canvas ("Love is all you need" and others in that vein) and other funky, classy decor. It's a small place, with a long, two-piece bar, a few booths, a couple tables and a small lounge area. At 8PM on a Wednesday, there were a few other couples in there, and what looked like a larger group sitting on the couch in the "lounge." Everyone was middle aged or younger. Our helpful bartender immediately greeted us with a martini glass filled with delicious truffle, cinnamon popcorn. I ordered a Slap and Tickle, despite it being what seemed like a more wine-focused bar -- and only three beers on tap. The drink (gin, cucumber juice) was refreshing, but not strong at all. And maybe these stingy pours are just something I have to get used to up here in Canada, but there was 1 ounce of alcohol in the whole drink, despite it being served in a highball glass. Despite both of us ordering drinks, we were not given water, which is a bit of a bartender pet peeve of mine. The chalkboard menu is really hard to follow. An item example: "Glass of bacon/jack/lime/coke." Not exactly sure what that meant, but we saw "BACON" so we asked and ordered it. It was really, really good. Jack Daniels and Coke rubbed bacon (five pieces for $5), baked and served in a martini glass with a lime. Totally cool and funky (and yummy!) but wish the menu were more easily decipherable. Things were a little chaotic behind the bar, which totally contrasted with the more relaxed vibe intended at the bar. There seemed to be no POS system and the kitchen was right behind the bar with the bartenders. I'm talking people pulling food out of refrigerators, prepping it, microwaving -- the whole deal. The bright lights from the open refrigerator door made it all together too bright in the bar, killing the mood lighting, and it seemed nonsensical to set it up that way. I'm all for open-view kitchens, but maybe not as restricted as that, and not right with the bartenders trying to make drinks. All in all, I really liked the place. Cool vibe, good stuff on the menu (when you are told what it is), and really nice and helpful staff. I just wish they could live up to the potential a bit more. I'll definitely go back and adjust my rating accordingly.

We moved to Colton almost three years ago from Boston and now we regret not coming here sooner. We took a great sampling of the menu and enjoyed every dish. The 2 burgers were cooked perfectly- 1 medium and 1 medium rare. The fries were very crunchy and held its own. My mummy got the fish fry - the only negative was perhaps the fish was overcooked and hard to eat- the beer batter tasted great though but I would suggest a min less on the deep fry. The chicken wings were fantastic, ally juicy -( we choose the golden bbq known more in North Carolina) even my husband enjoyed them and he does not like saucy food. The large portion of boneless chicken rings would be even a meal with a light salad. Great crunchy Onion rings that hold their own. Mozzarella sticks were nice. The Buffalo Egg rolls were very mild which was great for my family but I enjoy them on the hotter side. I really adore fried pickles and the batter they used held up to the juicy pickle:). I would like to see if in future they offer pickle chips and not just the spears. The only other thing I would point out- the blue cheese dipping sauce could be better. Needs more- maybe if they added real blue cheese chunks. Overall great experience, nice staff and a cosy dining room and bar.
