We had the worst experience at this hotel. We booked the family room for a weekend for a friends…read morewedding. When we got there it wasn't bad! It smelled fresh and the presentation was decent for an old hotel (I love historic places). However, THE ROOM WAS NOT AS ADVERTISED. We're hanging in our room and all of a sudden we here a big thump come from the ceiling of the bathroom (there are ceiling tiles). My husband listened and could hear mice. We immediately went down to the front desk to asked to have this taken care of. We had a dinner to attend too so we left hoping it would get fixed when we were gone as they said. It wasn't even looked at. They had NOTHING and NOBODY to fix this issue. My kids wouldn't use the washroom so we had to switch hotels entirely that same night. We didn't spend one single night at this hotel. It was a HUGE inconvenience for us. It was more money forked out. It was stressful. AND to top this all off, the owner won't give me back the other half of my money even though we didn't stay. THIS IS THE WORST HOTEL AND MANAGEMENT. DO NOT STAY HERE.

They ALL went above and beyond. The venue was decorated so beautifully, the food was second to none and our room could not have been more surprising. The champagne, chocolates and flowers were amazing. If anyone is looking for an amazing venue, look no further than Causeway Bay. You definitely will not be disappointed. After and hour of waiting they still couldn't check me in so I left for dinner and returned and they still couldn't process my check in but were able to manually open the door to a room. With no key to the door I had to prop it open so that I could get back in with my luggage. Finally the manager arrived and apologized on the phone and sent someone to deliver the key. No compensation for the inconvenience was offered. The room was remodeled so it was comfortable although a bit small leaving little room between the desk and bed. Breakfast looked unappealing so I went out for donuts.

I…read morerandomly asked AI what could break up our stay from Glacier to Calgary (where we were flying out). It told me about this historic (99 year old) hotel. I was like OMG yes, it's amazing. I called 4 months in advance and they were almost booked up. Thankfully we got one of the final rooms. With that said, it was maybe not the most glam or spacious room, but it definitely won with views. We were one of the (I think only 2) rooms on the sixth floor with a view of the lake and Waterton Peace park. Mind you, the elevator stops at the fourth floor and is run by an actual human operator (which stops running at 10 PM). The room was a full size bed...that will humble you and your spouse when you've been sleeping in a King for many years. LOL. However, thankfully, they have these amazing bellmen that carry your items up from the 4th to the 6th. Our bellman was Blake. He's been there for several years. He was amazing and truly seemed to love his job. He said he was more than happy to go get us ice (FROM THE FIRST FLOOR) or anything else we need. I joked with him that clearly, with this job he didn't have to hit the gym as much as the rest of his friends. Geez! Another staff interaction that was awesome was Amy from the front desk. Just a doll of a human that was so happy to accommodate us and help us learn everything we needed to know about the hotel and made sure to help us learn who to reach for certain things. A lovely human that has clearly had amazing life experience...said she had "the opportunity to come work here"...who says that about a job?! But seriously, all the people we encountered seemed to really love and be incredibly grateful for their opportunities to work here and serve the public and teach about this historic property. The last and most amazing individual was our server, Maya. We dined late in the Prince of Wales dining room. Maya was our server and gave us wonderful feedback on what was tasty and even a few stories on dishes! Like many other staffers, she's traveled extensively and had some great insights on things to see while in the area. She encouraged us to have the cheesecake for dessert and HOLY SMOKES it was stellar. Maya was warm and just made this experience an absolute delight. This hotel, the service and the food in the restaurant were all amazing. The views...absolutely killer! Now, I will list some of the things that you might need to keep in mind...if you have mobility issues, you need to book a room on floor 2-4. Also, remember they didn't design a room back then for you to have a sleep apnea machine and 14 things you need to plug in and charge. There was one plug in the main room and one plug in the bathroom. There is no air conditioning in the hotel, thus you'd better keep the curtains drawn once you've enjoyed your views during the heat of the afternoon. They thankfully have a fan in the room for those of us that "aren't from around there" and like air moving around. I'd say if you're going to be in the area, make the time to go check it out, it's definitely a once in a lifetime stay and worth the money. It has an amazing story and ALL of the staff love to tell you about it and about their experiences there. One note...if you don't like ghost stories, might not want to google some things about the hotel before you go. BOO! ;)
