An hour early!

This is professional community theater at its best. There isn't a bad seat in the house. The productions are always well acted, the stage and sets are well-managed and their box office is efficient and organized. If you arrange to have your tickets at will-call, they will be there reliably. Sound quality is good, The seats are not particularly comfortable, but the theater is kept immaculately clean. The temperature is well-controlled and they have a nice refreshment and café area. We love this theater and compared to the prices we are used to paying in New York City and Toronto, it is wonderful entertainment at a very reasonable price.

If you had a day in Buffalo, this is one of the places you would want to check out. The shows I have been to here over the years are always well done. The staff are always so helpful and genuinely seem happy to be there. I am not a big theatre person so it's great to have them there to make sure I am in the right place and not committing any theatre mistakes. The concessions here are pretty decently priced. There is a good variety of drinks and snack options. As someone who generally goes to the movies more than the theatre, I was pleasantly surprised with the options. This space is beautiful. It makes you feel like you've stepped back in time but in the best way. The architecture alone is a reason to come check out this spot, but stay for a show and enjoy!

At 6 the doors were finally opened to sit down and hear about the season. It is now 6:15. The organ is still playing; there is no evidence of someone coming out to talk about the '26-'27 season. There are vendors in the lobby, selling beer, water, wine, popcorn. Nothing complimentary. 6:32 and the first speakers have appeared. Very disorganized. The presentation was a bit lengthy, but very nice. Each of the seven shows in the subscriber series was introduced. Guest artists performed songs from two musicals in the subscription: "Sound of Music" and "The Great Gatsby". There are three additional shows which are not part of the subscription, but to which subscribers can purchase tickets ahead of the general public. The presentation lasted about an hour.

It is an in the round theatre, there are about 3 rows of seating around the theatre, and it is wonderful. I have a hard time going to the bigger theatres, because I am so used to seeing the actors' faces and expressions and seeing spit fly out of their mouths. That is what makes theatre special, like you are part of the play. As I age, I prefer the smaller, more intimate theatres. Irish Classical has a bar that you can bring in your items during the performance, which is nice. All of the ushers and everyone with Irish Classical are friendly and helpful.  The plays are all from Irish playwrights and they are great. The sets are magical and they transport you into the scene. Definitely check this theatre out. The play Thirst, that took place earlier this season, the playwright was there and I got to meet him and get his autograph. It was quite exciting.

We recently came to see Or, and had a great experience from the moment we arrived. The bartender and ushers were friendly and the bar had a good selection of beers, wines, and n/a drinks to choose from, and allow you to bring your drink in using their covered cups. The cast was top notch as well and we enjoyed the play. I hope to come back sometime.

But regardless of this, there is now a New Phoenix. It's a pretty, interesting little theatre house on a tiny little backstreet in Allentown. It is the kind of place you'd be unlikely to ever find unless you knew what you were looking for. On the inside it is cozy and sweet. I'd like to play here sometime. It can fit up to about 100 people. On Thursdays they don't even charge you, it's donations only, to see whatever is playing at the time. All of this, and specifically the lime green exterior which really gets my juices flowing, adds up to a 5 star rating. Much better than the New Peanuts Theatre. That place is nuts.

The interior is of the space is not flashy, nor is it meant to be - rather it's a very practical place for productions. The space is extremely intimate and you'll be sure to see a lot of artists from your local scene here. Seating is often from all four sides, which makes for an enthralling experience where you feel as if you're a part of the action, not unlike the Irish Classical Theatre. Thursday is what-you-can-pay nights so if you're a student who is low on cash, come on Thursday and contribute whatever you can afford. This is a community Theatre of sorts with a very bootstrap feel to it. The reception area is upstairs, in an attic of sorts where they sell water and drinks during intermission. Standing up there, I've often felt as if I was standing in someone's house; part of Buffalo's small Theatre community. The creative director of the Theatre is a really great guy, very friendly and passionate about the arts. He cares about putting up great shows and giving local actors a place to express their craft; it shows! I love coming here and can't wait to see their next play.
