I recently completed eight weeks of outpatient treatment at The Kimberly Center, and what follows is a review of my experience there.  Along with mine, you will find many reviews claiming that Thomas Mouracade is a fraud, a liar, a scam/con artist, etc.  I wish they were written more articulately because those reviews are 100% true.  Thomas Mouracade will look you directly in the eye, whether you are the person in recovery or a close family member, and lie through his teeth.  Taking advantage of families dealing with substance abuse is one of the lowest things a person can do, and Thomas Mouracade does it with a smile.  Here are the ways he lied to myself and my family - and please read until the end where he lies about the cost of the program which is the lie that hurt us the most. I was initially looking for an IOP program that was flexible enough to allow me to do things like interview for jobs, go to work, return to school, etc.  Thomas Mouracade promised that his program was flexible - he told us he offers groups for 9-12:30 in the morning, and 4-7:30 in the evening.  This was a lie.  About one week into my treatment, he decided that all evening groups were to be canceled.  He knew this was going to happen as he took our money, but decided the lie was more appealing (and profitable) than the truth.  Thomas Mouracade has zero moral integrity. The groups themselves were also not what he promised.  He will tell you that the morning groups will begin at nine, but every single time I arrived at the Kimberly Center at 9 am, the doors were locked and the lights were off.  I have spent nearly an hour on several occasions sitting on the steps and waiting for someone to show up.  Never once in my entire eight weeks at the Kimberly Center did we have a single three and a half hour group.  They ran for about two and a half hours on average.  This adds up to dozens of hours of promised group time that I never received.  On many days, the other members of the group wouldn't show up at all with zero repercussions.  This shows he doesn't care about his program or how it's run; only the financial benefit he gains from it.  Fail drug tests?  No problem!  Disappear for a few days?  No problem!  I would never, ever send a loved one to the Kimberly Center. Thomas Mouracade also lied when he promised us that his clients receive one on one sessions with a therapist every week.  After my second session with a therapist, Thomas Mouracade himself decided that I would not receive any more sessions.  My therapist was baffled by this, and I myself was not consulted at all in regard to this decision.  The exact same thing happened with the doctors appointments he promised (plus the Dr. Happens to be his wife.  Conflict of interest much?).  Thomas Mouracade will quietly rip you off like this throughout your entire time at his center.  He did this so nonchalantly and back backhandedly that it must be his normal mode of operation.  The guy scammed us. The biggest lie he told me was about the cost of the program, which has left our family with negative bank accounts and a whole lot of regret.  I was a self-paying client, which means like many Americans, I do not have health insurance.  Thomas Mouracade promised that he would give us a more affordable price.  He initially wanted to charge us $250/day.  This is an extremely high fee considering that each day consisted of filling out a two or three-page worksheet or watching a Hollywood movie.  He agreed to "only" charge us $150/day (which is still a mighty high price to fill out a worksheet), and we accepted.  At the end of treatment, Thomas Mouracade refused to talk to me about payments anymore, and charged my family the full amount, with zero discount.  How he deems this acceptable way to conduct business is beyond my comprehension.  He's a thief. In all, Thomas Mouracade is a liar.  Do not let his soft voice and gentle expressions fool you - he is a sleazy used car salesman at best, and a fraudulent criminal at worst.  Some of his staff actually seem like quite decent people, and I gave an extra star for them.  I hope they find work at a more reputable facility because the Kimberly Center is owned by a con artist.  Thomas Mouracade was once an addict, and now he's found a way to prey on them.  DO NOT TRUST THOMAS MOURACADE. read more
