The town of Masham is a quick 20-minute walk with plenty of pubs and a couple of breweries, there are miles of walking/running trails, you can watch the herds of deer from your windows, and the rolling hills dotted with sheep and horses is oh so peaceful. Back in September, I was proudly awaiting two newly acquired foreign friends to join me for beer and much merriment. He was luckily ignored by my overseas' companions, and given a wide birth. Yesterday's freak was the biggest, most racist numpty I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. He was also very thick, and looked like the sort of person that would like to fight you, for saying 'have you got a light mate' .. We chose it because it had some outside seating on a pleasant enough sort of day. The pub has a Public Bar which we went in to order our drinks and a lounge bar which I only spotted later and didn't go into. The 'Public Bar'I would have called it a 'Tap Room' in years gone byhas a pool table and sport on the TV. The barman was friendly and welcoming and brought our pot of tea out for the tea-totallers in our party :-) The exterior looks like it needs a little bit of TLC in all honesty but by the same token it has a bit of character. We didn't dine, but when we passed by an hour or so later many folks were doing so I'd certainly give it a whirl if I was visiting again.

Came for a Day Spa at The Garage, The Morritt recently. The place was lovely, surroundings were…read moregorgeous. As it was a week day it was really quiet. The Spa was very quaint, different to others I have been but very well thought out. Robes, towels and slippers provided along with a tour of all the facilities. Outdoor sauna and Jacuzzi, plenty of seats to chill in the sunshine. Indoors there were 3 treatment rooms, steam room, salt room and 3 tubs to soak in. Treatments vary: I had a sea salt scrub which lasted 25 mins and later in the day a full body massage which lasted 50 mins. All very relaxing. Included in the £109 price was a 2 course meal in the restaurant. Delicious, well prepared and presented food. The staff were exceptionally helpful and pleasant, nothing was too much trouble, which made the whole experience a delight. I really can't fault my experience and will be returning.
