Burgers were very good, ambiance was cool, all service was handled at the bar but they did bring your food to your table. If we are in the area again we would visit again

Vegetarians can not count on much in the world of food. But there is one thing that herbivores can count on anywhere on Earth. That is that the local punk rock bar will always have something tasty on the menu that caters to them. The Lady Luck is no exception to the rule. Behind its black clad barmaids and its punkity rockity memorabilia on the walls (kind of straight out of a Social Distortion song), it's a disguised veggie foodie paradise during the day (with a lot of meat on the menu too). We left before it turned into its nighttime live music and more rowdy pub self, but even at around 5:00 p.m., they were welcoming to the traveler with a large backpack (in Cantebury, this should not be a surprise given its history) with a hearty vegetarian plowman's lunch with local cheese (I think the cheddar and chutney combination will haunt my good dreams for a long time) and a strong British scrumpy cider for around twelve pounds total. The vibe is definitely laid back and the clientele while we were there were not intimidating at all. The music selection on the jukebox is a bit more varied that a lot of other punk bars I've been to and we were serenaded by David Bowie (sad face) and Motorhead (double sad face) by a guy fresh out of a recording studio down the road. The music was turned up loud but there are no additional distractions (such as televisions) to be found. While I wouldn't exactly recommend this place to my parents, it's definitely a chill place to eat a good meal and grab a good drink.

We came here for lunch, and thought it was very delicious, moderately priced food on Canterbury's High Street. I particularly liked their Ploughman's cheese lunch, which had a fantastic baguette (warm and crispy exterior, soft interior), two cheeses, a mini salad (lettuce and tomato), and a few garnishing s, all for under £7. My husband also liked the Hunters Chicken and local beer on tap. As an FYI, the interior is music themed bs traditional pub themed ,as we initially may have thought), but very enjoyable.

Lovely pub, very cozy, great ambiance, and very inclusive. Was there for Pride and loved it. The food was great too, bonus.

Looked appealing but at the get go, they handed us menus and told us to seat ourselves. We went out…read moreon the patio. Ordered drinks and then no one ever came back for our order. We went in and ordered. Still no food for quite awhile. A waitress finally came over and asked us to pay. Odd since we didn't have food. She said you pay first - well no tip for her. I told her the service was very slow and she said she'd check on our meal. Food finally came. We had split a Big Mother Clucker Burger, fries and onion rings. Food was good. We left with no tip as there were at least 5 wait staff and none of them seemed to want to come out to the patio and none seemed very happy to be there. We saw others waiting a long time and it was not a friendly atmosphere.

This is one of the nicest pubs I've tried in a long time - and not just in Canterbury - in general!…read more As soon as you walk in to The Dolphin Inn you can feel the great atmosphere. It's busy, but not too busy - there's a good buzz about the place, without it being too noisy to hear one another - and there's a lovely relaxed vibe that instantly relaxes. Not only does this place serve absolutely delicious pub grub (see my pictures for proof), they also have an assortment of board games available to play, making your visit extra fun! I went here twice during my time here in Canterbury and enjoyed several long games of Settlers of Catan (yes, I know - I'm a geek) with great food and booze. The staff are not pushy and, so long as you have a drink on the table, are happy to let you play on until your heart's desire. We never felt pressured to hurry up and leave, which is always a bonus in these sorts of pubs. On top of this, lost in my game of Settlers and too engrossed in my enjoyment of the game, my phone was sadly stolen off our table. Now this may sound like a negative, however upon telling the staff about what had happened they were so kind and helpful and - thank goodness - a few hours later, called us to let us know they had found my phone (which had been mysteriously returned to the table) and they had it waiting for me behind the bar. Throughout the whole ordeal, they could not have been more helpful, which just made me love this place even more. Please also note that, despite the above story, this pub does not have a dodgy feel to it at all and I was very shocked when I noticed my missing phone! It's not the sort of place you'd generally feel concerned about your belongings going missing - hence my phone sitting freely beside me on the table - so don't be put off by this aspect of my review!!
