Originally created to celebrate good fortune and those once loved. This eye opening spectacle will forever capture your wonder and deliver amazement at your fingertips. If you purchase your tickets way in advance you will receive an early bird discount. The tickets specifically recommend arriving at 4 p.m., not right before launch, yet crowds ignore this and accuse the organization for being unprepared when they have to wait in unnecessary lines. We, however, arrived just before the recommended hour and were directed seamlessly by staff where to park, check in, and grab our necessities. Once through the gates we located a fire pit and congregated there. Next we explored. We identified the numerous food trucks and decided to eat before the masses arrived. Thank goodness we had because once the majority checked in the lines to every truck became ridiculous. There were convenient food and drink sales reps for any evening craving walking about. Here are some suggestions when the time comes to launch: Be prepared so you can enjoy the spectacle in all its glory and snap a few pics in between. Keep your lantern low to the ground to allow the hot air to collimate within. And watch your head, some lanterns don't make it into the air and can burn your hair. Oh, and be patient when you leave. There are many vehicles and everyone is trying to leave just like yourself.

My first time going to this I had no idea what to bring, what to plan on, or really what was happening at this event. Me and my boyfriend bought tickets early. They were 30$ each when I purchased. Plus they had a discount for Valentine's Day. It was buy 1 get one free. So this was a. Dry good deal! Well worth the money. We got to the festival too early. It said it started at 4, and because of missing an exit we got there around 5:30. We did have to park a ways away, however we didn't mind. It was 10$. They also had a little tram type of thing picking people up and bringing them to the entrance. Once we got in they gave us each a lantern, a roasting stick, and a box. The box came with a marker to draw or write on your lantern, a crappy lighter, 4 marshmallows, 8 graham crackers, and a Hershey's bar. We wish we would have brought a bigger bag, or maybe a baby and a stroller because carrying everything around was slightly inconvenient. Once we realized that there were no fire pits left to reserve we walked around. There were a couple cute little booths open, and some carnival games for kids. There were also some really good food trucks, however I assumed that it would have taken at least an hour to get food. The lines were so long. So luckily we brought food with us and just ate that. We had several hours that we spent walking in circles, because there really isn't too much for anyone our age to do. Then when the sun started to go down we looked for a spot to sit. It was so crazy busy and full, we had to wonder for a while. Eventually we came across this couple who only took up a little space and we sat by them. Eventually they offered us to join them. They had brought their own fire pit and let us share it! Several other couples joined us as well, and we meet some really cool people. We are still in touch with them now! After some s'more roasting and drawing on our lanterns it was time to release them. The lighters they give you aren't the best, but someone else in the group had their own. (thank god) we all struggled a little trying to get them to fly. Then someone told me to hold it low to the ground and let it fill up. Then soon enough it just floated up by itself. It was so cool! And so pretty. I definitely recommend this. The view was priceless. There is no picture that can do it justice. We planned on the parking lot being chaotic so we stayed by the fire and talked with our new friends for another hour and a half while people filed out. Once we walked back to our car we took an hour nap because the parking lot was so full. People waiting to get out just turned their cars off. We were expecting this - so it didn't make us too upset. After an hour of waiting we drove right out. Got home super late, but it was all worth it. You have to at least try it once. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

This event is dedicated to celebrating different cultures and backgrounds through art, performance and food. It's a one-stop shop for a multicultural delight! This festival is free to attend, although you're encouraged to bring cash for the food and art vendors. And come hungry-there are so many great food options and the perfect opportunity to try something new. There's a large stage where different performances take place throughout the event. I love hearing the different music and watching the dancers-it's mesmerizing. There's another stage closer to the library in the amphitheater that also has different entertainment-usually things like poetry readings or smaller dance groups. I like the proximity of the performer to the audience-it's a more intimate experience. Most of this event is run by volunteers, so it's definitely a community event and a labor of love. Come support the festival!

Weather was beautiful and it was nice listening to Hawaiian music and watching the hula dancers. Plenty of food options with one beer booth that moved quickly. I saw more vendors this year selling cultural novelties and crafts. It wasn't too crowded for a Saturday evening but definitely busy. Listening to music is what to do here and of course people watch. Didn't stay too long, not much else to do. Free event.

They host several workshops a month and always mix up the locations as well. Sometimes their events are more intimate 21+ events at Alibi, and sometimes we're using a space at NHMU (and getting a complimentary NHMU ticket for the evening!) or the Valley Fair Mail. Every class is so much fun, and it's a lovely community of people from all over the valley. I've met so many wonderful people at these classes. The artists that host them are so talented. I've never considered myself very crafty or creative, but after taking these workshops, I've realized that I have so many skills and interests that I never knew I had! It feels like every workshop honors the creativity of my inner child :) In addition to their workshops, they do a million other things that benefit our local community and foster creativity. They host two large events - the DIY Festival in August and the Holiday Market in December. Their staff is always friendly and helpful, and every event I've attended has been fun and well organized. Thank you to Craft Lake City for helping us adults connect with our inner child and for all that you do for our community!

Utah should never host a beer festival...it's pathetic. The VIP room at Flanker's was very nice with great food choices but the fest itself is a sad reflection on the entire craft beer industry.

This is my fifth year going to this festival. This year was an extreme disappointment. In years…read morepast each vendor would serve you their beer and you could ask questions and get informed about each beer. This year the venue decided to not allow the vendors to distribute their own product. Rather, they set up about five different serving stations with two servers at each station where you had to wait in line 30 to 45 minutes to fill up your 5 ounce mug. This means they only had about 10 servers for thousands of people. Help me make that make sense. It doesn't. The individuals who were serving the beer for the event when I asked them what their favorite one was I was told I don't drink. What! A good handful of the servers were not happy they were there and were rude to the participants. This year, they also did not set up as many chairs or shaded areas like they did in years past. I also talked to multiple vendors and they said that they were only told about this change once they arrived that morning. They also said that if this is the way the venue is going to run this event, they will not be returning next year because it was a big waste of their time. And I will say it was a big waste of every participant time waiting in the long a$$ lines. They also had one entrance and exit at the far south end of the plaza unlike in years past, they had two entrances one at the south end, and one of the north end for the convenience of the Patriots. It was very clear that this year they did not care about the attendees in the paying customers.
