This is our first visit. We are amazed at the awesomeness of this experience. It must take so much time, effort, expertise and Christmas spirit to pull this off. It makes so many people happy! I read past reviews and appreciate how they have worked so hard to make it better every year. Thank you Larsen Family!!

A gorgeous mansion like house, decked up with 1+ million led lights, some mind blowing technical work and musical holiday tunes - Larsen Christmas Light Show is such a grand visual spectacle. The best part was being able to drive up to a plot right next to the house, park your car in one of the lanes marked and enjoy it from the comfort of your vehicle. Depending on crowds, the light shows last 15-20 minutes and all of this for FREE. If you do wish you can make a contribution which would help with all the overhead costs. A must see during Christmas if you are in the area! PS: Watch the videos of the light show and you will know what I mean - of course my phone camera hardly does justice. Edit : Unable to add more than 1 video, you can view some awesome videos of the light show on YouTube as well.

I love this show. We go every year and always donate. This is a beautifully enchanting show and display. This year was even more amazing than last... Which I didn't think was possible. Great job all involved with lighting, designing, music, programming, maintenance, traffic....

If your wondering where to take your family to get in the Holiday spirit, look no further than here! This is our 2nd year to go and we were more impressed this year. Better music, better visual effects and we though last year was awesome!! The lines can get long and it's possible to get behind a vehicle larger than your own is the ONLY complaint! Remember to us the bathroom last minute out the door and do not allow any drinks on the way! It's in the middle of nowhere with no restroom in sight! You could be in line anywhere from 10 minutes to over an hour but it really is a spectacular display!! Take your kids and and family and friends! Our 'kids' are 23 & 25 and we all loved it!! We went on a Tuesday and saw the 2nd show at 5:30!

A bit expensive, but a very nice holiday display fun for kids under teen. Teens ddnt have as much nice to say.

How can you say anything bad about someone who puts in such an amazing lightshow for the community at no charge? I thought it was just a heavily decorated house when I saw the news article about the Larsen house. Little did I know that it was such an extravaganza synced to dozens of songs you can tune to on your car's radio. Millions of LED lights dance along, twinkling and sparkling in perfect computer generated unison.

Amazing....as long as you arent in a car. SUV or truck only or the view isn't so good. You can get out & look! We love you guys!

    First show starts at 5pm.

Outstanding display coupled with a complete lack of traffic management or signage on a week night.

FOOD: There was a beer tent and 6 food vendors: 1 BBQ, 1 Tacos, 1 fried foods, 1 corn, 1 Italian Ice, and an Oberweis Dairy ice cream truck. I found food prices to be REALLY steep: I paid $15 for a 6" corn dog and dry cheese curds that had been sitting under a warmer. ENTERTAINMENT: In the evening there were only carnival games (4), a tall slide, and a bouncy castle, and a stage with live music. During the day there are specific events (garage sale, book sale, 5k). People set up lawn chairs, so note you can bring those. Most went "parade style" and set them up en masse to claim spots, and then left elsewhere. Overall? Meh. Very underwhelming, at least in terms of attending Saturday evening. I suppose it's halfway decent if you live in the neighborhood and just want to chill and listen to music with your family and neighbors.

At 10 pm the headliner came out - they were called the "Cherry Poppin' Daddies" out of Oregon somewhere. The name put us off a little (no- a lot). Their music was what I would call "suggestive" but their style could be classified as swing. This was not what a Saturday night crowd of several thousands wanted to hear. Not sure why Palatine chose them and not a rock band. Needless to say, a lot of people left during their performance. Now, the festival itself was great - Palatine festivals always get a great turn out. There were the regular information booths from insurers, politicians and window replacement companies. The food tents represented the best of Palatine - I had Pad Thai from Siri Thai and a hamburger from Heybeck's. Both were outstanding. Finally, the beer garden was packed. We set up chairs by the stage, but trans-versed the crowds to get beer several times. All I can say is there was no way to get to the beer tent easily. Oh, it was a straight shot. But there were so many people and the music was so loud, in many cases you had to push your way through. The craziest thing was the way they cordoned off the beer garden. The main entry was about a 30 foot long metal plank on the south of the area. There was one other entry point to the east. The porta- potties were set up to the northwest of the beer garden which I think makes sense. But, there was no entry between the two. In order to go from one section to the other, you had to leave the beer garden from either the south or the east, then walk all of the way around until you got there. It was not convenient. But, overall, it was a really good street fest which I will definitely go to again next years. My hope is that the people who put it together take these two points into consideration. If they corrected these, it would be a 5 star experience.
