The Komedia is a little scruffy around the edges, but that's Brighton for you. The building has two performance venues, an independently-run cafe bar and foyer bar (and feels much larger inside than its modest facade implies). They also provide food during some performances with a caberet-style setting. But it's the entertainment you come here for, not the surroundings. The staff seem friendly enough, although not always fantastically efficient - on-line booking isn't always available, for example. Arrive with plenty of time for comedy performances, as the best seating gets taken early on. (You can always have a drink while you wait.) If, like me, you have a large, illuminated, 'pick on me' sign on your head which only the performer can see, you'll need to tuck yourself away somewhere inconspicuous...

One of the liveliest fun pubs in Worthing. Used to use years ago, but now not really in my age…read moregroup. It was called The Thieves Kitchen then!! Loads of live gigs and fun nights as the pictures suggest. Always busy, especially on a big sporitng event TV showing. Good, inexpensive lunches can be had, which is very much family orientated. They seem to have the day/night balance right. My nephews use this place and always come to see"the old boy" when he's on his way to the Italian nosh- shop!! Open all year round, the theatre shows live music, drama, comedy, dance and literary events. Soul legends like Candi Staton and Marlena Shaw have graced the stage alongside contemporary rock, pop, jazz and classical musicians. I've been to a couple of different events and I'd definitely go back. My only grumble is that it lacks the intimacy and atmosphere of other venues in the city. The theatre itself can feel like a big village hall, especially when it's not full and the bar is quite limited. If you like a G&T you're fine but if you want an Absolut vodka with cranberry and a slice of lime, you'll go thirsty.

There's a really nice wall feature of a 3-D rooftop scene and little star lights cover the rest of the walls downstairs, apparently the original scenery from CATS the musical. The light and airy upstairs is used as a restaurant/bar where food is served Thur - Sat 6pm til 10pm & Sun 12pm til 3.30pm & has free wi-fi. Unusually for Brighton the downstairs is closed on Friday & Saturday nights and available for hire. Definitely worth checking out if your at a loose end on a weekday evening.

The atmosphere is best when the place is at a comfortable capacity, as it suits a seated audience. Serving average quality food and a reasonable selection of drinks the upstairs bar is always a nice place to be. However, the real draw is the cabaret bar downstairs. Having previously hosted such names as Amy Winehouse, The Kooks, Herbie Flowers and Chris Difford, the downstairs bar is definitely where it's at. The walls have been made to look like a charming cityscape complete with real, backlit windows and twinkling stars. This combined with the low ceiling and slightly raised stage makes the venue an intimate place, better suited to bands that are comfortable dealing with much audience participation. Drinks are a little expensive but definitely worth it. The simple pleasure of watching great music in a genuinely charming setting is enough for me to just shut up and pay. Great for folk, blues, jazz or anything rootsy. One of my favorite gig venues!

The lady sorting out the tickets on the phone was really helpful and informative...we were shown where to go and met and welcomed, so very good, pleasant start Parking in - no problem...got there early, 15 minutes before the gates opened, and there were already a ton of cars, hmm, should have thought that through... First the fireworks...well we had the music and we had fireworks - had sort of had taken a bonfire on bonfire night as a gimme but actually not...boo hoo. Then started 15 minutes late because of traffic (hmm again), but no big deal...however about 20 minutes later it all kind of stopped, a mini restart then nothing. Everyone stood around waiting, no clapping as we all expected it to restart...in the end we all drifted away back to the cars... Yup, chaos...30 minutes to move about a car length...about an hour to get out...good thing it was just the 2 of us & no kids... All in all great start but no real delivery...disappointing...shame really...lot of people saying they would go to Barnham's next year The real question is - what is it like on race days, because we would like to go sometime but we certainly don't fancy a repeat of that

I've walked past this place many times but never went in before…read more We visited on a lovely sunny day so sat outside on the terrace which was busy. We'd bought a voucher through Wriggle - hot dog & free flowing prosecco for £9.95 (1-4pm) & I must admit we weren't sure how it would live up to our expectation but we were both really pleased - our hot dogs were really tasty, although a little small to be classed as a meal, but the free flowing prosecco was exactly that! After being given a wrist band to show that we were in the prosecco club, we never had an empty glass, staff wandered around all afternoon topping up our glasses, we never had to go to the bar or ask for a top up. It was great - I will definitely go back, it was such great value!
