After a long morning or exploring Reykjavik, the Laundromat was a chill spot to sit, rest, and enjoy a beer and some great food. We stumbled past the storefront while walking on a food tour or Reykjavik (something you MUST try), and the exterior was so inviting that we made a note that we needed to return. The inside is fun and vibrant. The ROYGBIV bookshelf bar counter is pleasing to the eyes, and the jet red chairs and chairs and lamp shades give a vibe of a cozy yet trendy coffee shop. The food was incredible and was affordable. You should definitely try one of the local beers. I'm not lying when I say, Iceland Beer is some of the best beer I have ever had, and I'm bummed you can't find it in the states. Viking beer was my absolute favorite. This location was very welcoming and the staff extremely hospitable. It's also located in the heart of Reykjavik. It's a must try place if you find yourself in the land of Fire & Ice! Easy to find because the surrounding restaurants and shops are dark colored and the red colored theme of this cafe stands out. I get extremely paranoid when traveling about running out of clean clothes. So a few days into our stay in Scandinavia, I was already looking to clean some clothes. After some research on "montvask " places in Copenhagen, I found the Laundromat cafe. The guy was nice to instruct on the use of the machine. It only takes 10 DKK coins and the soap comes out of the machine so I was relieved because I did not bring any detergent. The cashier was nice to give me change. The wash is 50 DKK and the dry cycle was 10 DKK for 7 minutes. I had a small load and it is a huge dryer so it took my clothes only 7 minutes to dry anyways. While waiting for the laundry to finish, you can sit inside and enjoy the free internet. Or you can eat in the cafe. We did not try the food as I wanted to try next door's food which I bookmarked via Yelp. There are also boutique shops to peruse while waiting for your laundry. read more

Very nice, chill place with a funky vibe! I came here with an old friend I hadn't seen in years and it was the perfect place to catch up. There weren't too many people when we arrived for our super late lunch, but by the time we left it was almost full. It's a young, trendy crowd that hangs out there and it's clearly quite popular. They have lots of vegetarian options on the menu, which is rare in Denmark, but made me very happy. It was hard to chose what I wanted to eat, but I ended up ordering the Latin Avocado Sandwich (98kr) which is basically a ginormous avocado toast with gouda, cheddar, arugula, salsa and creme fraiche. The dish certainly has a Danish twist, but it was quite good and very filling. Unlike the avocado toasts that I am used to, this one has almost a whole avocado on it! It also comes with a huge portion of fries. It's an American sized portion and I couldn't finish it all. The food was really good and I had a mojito to go with my lunch. We visited Laundromat Cafe after hearing about it from a friend who lived in Copenhagen for a summer. We came for breakfast and found the food to be pretty good! It is definitely a very unique cafe in the sense that it is also a fully functional laundromat. It was a very unique dining experience. The Dirty Breakfast was very good and filling as well. The only thing is that it's relatively more expensive than other, similar cafes that we encountered during our stay in Copenhagen. read more

Needed a place to get some laundry done on a Sunday. They were one of a few coin laundries open in Copenhagen on Sunday. Once you get passed the fact that it's a restaurant with a little coin laundry in the back, you'll be okay. Having never seen anything to this degree in Canada, I had to get passed the idea of the patrons of the restaurant being able to see me pull my dirty underwear out of a bag and load the washer. Having said that, it's the norm here and nobody paid any attention at all. 4 washing machines and 2 dryers, so it's not huge. Something to keep in mind if there are people ahead of you. We paid 80 ddk for two washers and about 30 for the dryer. I DO like the cafe because if you're bored, you can grab a bite while waiting for your laundry. read more

It was almost two years ago, but I remember the day my sweetheart and I wandered over with our suitcases full of laundry from two weeks of wandering about being International Bright Young Things. The space is airy and charming, indie around the edges. Sadly I hadn't thought to buy detergent, foolishly assuming we could purchase some there and either the dryers weren't working very well, or I really don't understand Danish appliances - so all our clothes were popped back into the suitcase rinsed if not soaped and very damp. So the Laundromat portion of our journey was a wash (as it were)! The food, however, is hearty and very good, vegetarian friendly and vegan friendly if you don't eat the yoghurt and ost, for example, in the Clean morgenmad/vegetar (I gave them to my omnivorous sweetheart who did rave about the cheese). We needed to do a few loads of laundry while traveling in Copenhagen and the Laundromat Cafe was the perfect spot to do so! Conveniently located just a short walk from the metro, it was very easy to reach. Once inside, you'll find a cute cafe with a small laundry (3 small-capacity washers and 3 mid-capacity dryers) to the right in the back. The machines were clean and they had boxes of detergent (one regular, one sensitive skin) with scoops Inside for you to use if you didn't bring your own. There were two round red laundry baskets for you to use and a clean counter with stools for sitting and folding. One of the lovely employees behind the cafe counter came back and showed us how the machines work (basically just select water temperature and push to start--super simple). The machines had the option to change languages as well (at least the dryers--cannot recall whether the washers did too). The wash cycle took about an hour and the dryer cycle was set at 40 minutes (we didn't stuff the dryers so our loads were done after the one cycle). NO COINS REQUIRED! You simply keep track of how many loads you do and then let them know at the counter when you're done. We had breakfast while waiting (it was yummy!) so they simply added it to our total bill and we paid by credit card. It wasn't cheap at 50 dkk per load, but it was well worth it for the service, cleanliness and to have WiFi, board games, books and lots of lovely families coming in for breakfast (no one else did laundry while we were there, which was a good thing because we used all three machines!?). The icing on the cake was that we realized Juno, one of the yummiest bakeries in Copenhagen was right down the street, so when we left the cafe with our suitcases full of clean laundry, we took a short walk and got some pastries to take back to the rest of the family. The Laundromat Cafe is just what it sounds like -a laundromat but also a cafe. The place mainly appears to be a cafe but still there are washing machines and dryers there as well. It has the old style American diner style of furnishing and design and it has a rather nice vibe to it. The food is focused on simple brunch dishes and burgers. The brunch is a notch above the standard one and can really be recommended. The smoothies and juices are excellent and made from fresh fruits. They do also have a good selection of beer (mainly bottled ones) and some wines. All in all a very pleasant place to hang around for a quick bite to eat or some drinks. read more

This is also another place just around the corner of my sisters apartment, so that is why we decided to give it a try. It is always packed with people and kids (again - me not a big fan of the little ones) My sister had a really nice burger, its looked juicy and the fries where homemade. This place was simply awesome. We all loved it. The food was good and reminded me of something we would get back in San Francisco. The staff was super nice to us, and the outside seating is worth waiting for. While it's mainly a restaurant, it does actually have washer and dryers there if you wanted to do your laundry. While we were there we didn't see anyone using them, but they had been obviously used. This is another place I could see myself at quite often if I lived there. My friend and I, sadly, did not get our laundry done here, but we got something more worthwhile, a really filling, American-style brunch! The decor of the cafe is really cute, it has a very 1920's diner feel to it, think Happy Days with the red seats and ironic and humorous posters, all with a Danish flair for hygge. We asked the server to translate the brunch menu for us, and he was really sweet about - he tried really hard to give as most accurate of a translate as he could and we really did appreciate it. Suffice it to say, we were hungry, so we took a seat after ordering a dirty brunch. Quickly, we noticed the tables surrounding us had ordered the same thing so we had high anticipation of it. We were served a small, but really tasty smoothie, I think it was a mint mango smoothie. It was really refreshing and had me pumped for the rest of the meal. We were served the usual bread basket, it was cold and a little more chewy than what I'm used to at other cafes, but it kept my stomach from growling, so it was sufficient. It took our food 15 - 20 minutes to come out and when it did, we were in awe. It was an absurdly large plate of food. It had mini-(American style)pancakes with maple syrup, Canadian bacon (the ham-like meat), scrambled eggs, hotdog sausages(?) a slice of pineapple, orange slices, cheese, home fries, cantaloupe, and museli with yogurt. It was absurdly filling. I swear, it was a task to eat because the quantity of food was intense, but it was really, really good. As an American student studying in Denmark, it made me really nostalgic for home but it served its purpose in keeping my crazy desire for American food at bay with the Danish interpretation of its equivalent. I really enjoyed the place, the servers were sweet and the food was good. If not for the high price of eating out in Copenhagen, I would have tried eating out this place at least once a month to keep my American pancake craving at bay. read more

Love the concept of this place! We were visiting so didn't need the laundry part but always thought something like this would be perfect for a city (having lived in NYC where you tend not to have your own washing machine).
