I've had a bad pool leak for a long time (I can see the pool water coming out of the vacuum pipe). The liner was old and in poor condition and poorly presented so I understood that the operator might miss something, or take longer than the included time, or that more new leaks might appear after treatment, but as the leak had increased dramatically quite quickly, I thought it worth the risk to engage The Leaky Pool Guys.
They came, found a big leak and patched it, the leakage stopped immediately, and I was happy. 24 hours later the pool started leaking again, at the same high rate as before the patch. I called Mick at The Leaky Pool Guys, who told me that the patch could not possibly have lifted, that this must be a new leak, and I would have to pay him $160 to come back and look again. I had no way to refute that until months later I asked a reputable company to quote to replace the liner, and their rep had the decency to point out to me that a big patch had lifted, and might be the source of my leak problem (it was the patch applied by the Leaky Pool Guys). I relayed this information to Mick at The Leaky Pool Guys, who then told me I had only paid to locate the problem, not to fix it.
A quick repair by a local pool repairer and all is now good, except for the $200 to repair the original botched job, $300 for extra pool chemicals, and the additional damage to my house bricks to due months of unnecessary high volume salt water leakage.
For refusing to accept the possibility of their work being faulty, for refusing to even take another look at the job without further payment, for still refusing those things after I had proof that their work was faulty, for pushing a guarantee that means nothing, and all this while charging more money than any other alternative, I award TheLeakyPoolGuys the lowest possible rating. read more
