From the tour, to the interview process, in the preparation process and most especially as the school year began. The principal, teachers, teachers aids and everyone we have encountered thus far. Volunteering at school allowed me to meet some great parents who became my best friends. Both my children started their education at SMCA from Pre-K. They always had very caring and dedicated teachers. I feel safe leaving my kids at school while I have to go to work. My kids love the school and their friends. My older son graduated from SMCA in 2022; his former teachers always greet him with a smile whenever he stops by his alma mater. SMCA offers a great after-school program led by Ms. Vicky, who knows all the children by their names and ensures they are well cared for. While in after-school, kids do their homework, play games, and work on art projects. The new principal, Mrs.Donahue, is an excellent educator; she is always there to support the students and teachers. She goes above and beyond to ensure our children get a quality education. The school offers regent's prep classes for 8th graders. There are various clubs (Darama, Lego, Prayer, YearBook) and extracurricular activities (piano, band, soccer, basketball, choir). SMCA organizes many family events where we get to spend time with other families (Christmas Show, Family Dance, Radio bingo, 100 Club, etc). St. Matthias Catholic School is a great neighborhood school.

We have been part of Northside for the last 5 years and we couldn't love it more. We love the…read moreproject base learning which keeps the children engaged in regular curriculum learning with something that can still keep them interested. The administration and teachers are caring and extremely engaged in the community. A very supportive PA gouge which organize a lot of extra curricular activities. Every morning children are welcome with their first name, everybody knows each kid by name and give them the proper greetings. The small classes help also focusing on each child strength and 'need for help'. We really love it.

All of his teacher have left…read morelasting impressions on our family and on our child- the small classes allow for hands on learning and personalized attention, and the collaborative work between classes means its never "too small." He loves integrated science and art- where the project based curriculum gets tied into all his other subjects. Last year their 1st grade class studied fire stations, and when construction workers blocked an exit in our home, he pointed it out to me as a safety hazard and we had the building fix it. His learning goes beyond the classroom and basic curriculum. Northside is teaching our son to be a lifelong learner and better citizen!
