After the emotional roller coaster of a breast cancer diagnosis, finding a plastic surgeon who…read moreunderstands reconstruction is key. I found Dr. Vial - thank you baby Jesus! He's a miracle within himself. And big bonus here - he tag-teamed with my Oncologist Surgeon, Dr. Walling and stepped right in after she performed the partial mastectomy to work his magic. Initial expectations were set somewhere between "functional" and "doesn't scare small children". Dr. Vial exceeded my expectations, even when they were set comically low. The reconstruction, reduction, and lift was a journey. A journey that involved discomfort, self-doubt, and the urge to question life decisions. Dr. Vial's calm demeanor and reassuring presence were surprisingly effective at keeping the inner monologue of panic at bay. He explained the options in detail, and somehow made it seem that a new, improved silhouette was possible. The results? My wardrobe is experiencing a renaissance. I can put on a shirt that previously I had struggled with, bra lines showing, boobs not at the right height, and would, most times, throw it in the "hell no" pile. Now? Now I put it on and think to myself, "Wow. That's what it should look like! Hell YES!" The symmetry is spot-on, the lift is a "lift", and the reduction? Gravity no longer holds quite the same dominion. To Dr. Vial, I would tip my hat to you, if I wore one, anyway. Thank you for proving that even after the storm, there's a surprising amount of beauty, confidence, and kick-assness, to be found in the aftermath.

I can wholeheartedly give Dr. Vial and his entire staff (a special shout-out to his PA, Anna too) provided me with exceptional care from beginning to end. I was listened to and never once was made to feel like a burden with my questions or concerns (Dr. Vial responded personally to a text the day after my procedure). He also was not pushy, which I really appreciated. He left the decisions and choices up to me while providing his medical opinion, but again, without any pushiness or saleslike tactics. Dr. Vial is so meticulous and a perfectionist, which in my opinion, is exactly what you want in a surgeon. I had researched my specific procedure for over 10 years before finally deciding to proceed. I had met with over a handful of surgeons, and Dr. Vial was the easy choice. I never once regretted it. Furthermore, my recovery was practically pain-free. Comparing my consultations with other surgeons, it was plain to see that Dr Vial really goes above and beyond to ensure a recovery that is as painless and comfortable as possible. I'm over the moon with my natural results. If I ever need further procedures, Dr. Vial will be the first and only one I call. Side note, he also helped my family through cancer reconstructive surgery and they also had nothing but phenomenal things to say as well. They also mentioned how easy recovery was from their rather invasive surgery, and we both feel that further proves Dr. Vial is an expert and meticulous at what he does. Bend is incredibly fortunate to have a board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Vial for elective and cancer patients alike.

I desperately wanted chin liposuction- I've had four kids in six years, and all the extra weight has gone right there! I had a consult with another plastic surgeon told me I wouldn't get good results from chin lipo and said I needed a neck lift, which I wasn't wanting to do. After hearing great things about Dr. Emily Borsting, i schedueld a consult with her. She told me she thought chin lipo could still have really good results and got me in quickly. I really appreciated that she was like "Life doesn't always work for the ideal procedure" (aka 12k and a huge operation for a neck lift!) and still thought we could have improvement and it was worth it. She understood what I wanted for my lifestyle and budget as a busy mom. Procedure was fine, a little scary but really not so bad at all. Dr. Borsting and her staff were fantastic, and made it as comfortable and fun as possible. I couldn't be happier about all of it. I hear that it takes a few months to see the final result but I have been happy since day one. Dr. Borsting is the best!

The office staff and Dr. Borsting offered a very warm and professional setting, my questions and concerns were taken seriously and answered thoroughly including a plan to address the issues. The surgery went very well and Dr. Borsting came to visit me the evening of the surgery and again the next morning to check my blood pressure etc. I have since had Botox placed at the "11's" and lip filler to soften the (droop) corners of my mouth. I am extremely happy with the results and I will continue to see Dr. Borsting for future needs. It is very obvious Dr. Borsting loves what she does and Central Oregon is very fortunate to have her. I originally booked for 2:30 p.m., but I was kindly asked to reschedule earlier. I adapted my schedule and moved my appt to 1 pm. When I shook hands with Dr. Skotte, the first thing he asked for was a printed MedXPress document. I told him I had my confirmation number, as required by the FAA. He immediately showed frustration that I did not bring a printed copy. I was confused because the only FAA instruction I received stated: "You will need to provide your confirmation number," which has always been sufficient with every DPE I have worked with. He then told me it would cost an extra 20 dollars to print one page and later corrected himself to 25 dollars. I thought he was joking and asked for clarification, but he said the fee was stated on his website. Since I booked through an external link, I had never seen these instructions. He became increasingly disrespectful, pressuring me to show him the instructions and getting upset when I showed him the FAA's guidance. He continued accusing me of not following his website instructions, raising his voice, and lecturing me about not knowing how to follow simple instructions and even about the kind of pilot I must be. It was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. He also complained that I was making him late for his next patient while repeatedly pressing me to pay the fee. At this point, I chose to end the appointment. I need a medical examiner who shows basic respect and customer service skills. After leaving, I looked him up and found multiple complaints filed with the Oregon Medical Board, including a history of unprofessional conduct, negligence, and malpractice. His medical license was suspended in 2007 and was placed on a ten-year probation. Given his behavior, none of this was surprising.

Less than zero ... High Lakes Health…read more I have had a wonderful provider at High Lakes at the Shevlin building. He is my prescriber as I am a breast cancer survivor and have secondary conditions related to that. Lucky to be alive, trying to live my best life. That said, my doc went on vacation and without any warning, and upon refilling a particularly expensive medication that was not hastily prescribed, a substitute physician has denied it. My doc won't be back for a month. He's from Bend, young, very smart and has a family. My family and I have been very happy with his care. So disappointed to see High Lakes put a person whose in charge who would flat out deny a needful, long time medication. Btw NOT an opiate. My gastroenterologist who originally prescribed this medication has also left his practice and is set to join St Charles ... later in August. My referral was given a month ago, to smooth this transition because my stomach doc is the best in Bend. SCMC receptionist tried to find it, but said they are BURIED w a huge backlog of patients. Former and new patients. Not surprised, as he is an expert and he actually cares whether a patient can leave home w a condition like mine. So grateful he is staying in town. There seems to be an exodus of docs leaving the area. This is not continuity of care. It shouldn't take a behavioral health appointment to get my medicine or try and understand this idiocy.
