To start out they give out gift cards for reviews so don't trust the recent wave of high reviews. Don't ignore the red flag, they don't show you the actual apartment you move into, they cherry picked the quiet unit and use it as a show unit. This place has great looks and feels like it could be a good place to live but like many reviews touch on I believe this place is unreasonably loud. Like they forgot to do any sound proofing between floors. I have air purifiers and fans running in all my rooms otherwise I would be able to hear every conversation my neighbors have upstairs. I have rented for a couple decades and I have never experienced having this much noise from my neighbors bleeding into my apartment. I feel like I have no senses of privacy or peace and have to commonly move from room to room to escape the excessive noise. You can hear every step your neighbors take and can tell exactly what room they are in and what part of the room they are using. When someone is home there is constantly noise coming from above. You get to know every time your neighbor uses the toilet when you hear the wild rush of the water running through the pipes in the walls when anyone flushes. Also the drain pipes will knock and bang on the walls when any water is being used above. I had to adjust my entire sleeping habit to follow my neighbors otherwise I wouldn't get any sleep. If you try to get help with noise coming from neighbors the maintenance staff will just belittle you and tell you it is what it is. Maybe you will be lucky and get a quiet unit the top floor would probably be nice to live in. Just had a new neighbor move in and I share a wall with them. They stink and that stink transfers into my apartment through the bathrooms, I guess it comes in through the wall where the pipes go through. Every time I think this place can't possibly get worse something new pops up. Any time it snows I get an ice skating rink right In front of my door, this place has poor drainage and causes a lot of icy conditions. They had the roof redone recently and there are roofing nails all over the lawn areas. This is the most uncomfortable I have ever been renting anywhere. read more

So, the husband and I have been here for 5 years and I can pretty much echo previous statements; the apartment itself is nice, amenities are nice other than gym and pool closing a lot for maintenance or various reasons, on site work orders are handled in a pretty quick manner and maintenance workers here are wonderful. However, the leasing office is just.... Frustrating. We're supposed to move out at the end of the month, and it has been such a difficult time just trying to reach the leasing office about our pre-inspection and walk through. Everyone keeps saying they'll call me back, etc yet that never happens and every time we call or stop by to try and get it figured out it is always "sorry Jenny is the only one who knows" well our pre-inspection was the Sept 13th and now it's the 24th and we haven't heard back despite us calling and stopping by the office. Mind you, nothing is broken and we've really taken care of this place but they've bled us for money before, tried charging us month to month fees after signing a lease, claiming we didn't give appropriate notice before moving (I quite literally had to provide calls and documentation proving I did), didn't tell us when certain forms were do, and yes, our fireplace quite literally never works. Below average apartments for the price. You also have to jump through insane hoops to even get an apartment. Paystubs should be sufficient- instead, there is a verification in which my current landlord is harassed to tell this joke of a place that I do in fact pay rent and my employer also needs to be harassed to prove that I work even though they require 3 months worth of pay stubs. Absolutely ridiculous. You'd think they were hiring for the CIA with all the digging they do into your life. Just avoid this place altogether and save yourself the hassle and headache. As I approach my second month residing in The Legacy, I can confidently say that never before have I experienced such regret over a decision in my life. The staff, specially Michelle, has been very nice to me and my wife. So far, we have zero complaints about the staff. My problem is with how loud this apartment can be and how terrible the insulation is particularly when it comes to hearing the apartment above you. I've been renting for a long time, I anticipated some level of noise living in an apartment. However, the reality here has far exceeded any reasonable expectation. I am constantly disturbed by the noise from my upstairs neighbors. I can hear every footstep from one room to another, the flushing of their toilets, and even intimate moments. Living here has significantly disrupted my quality of life once I'm not able to sleep or watch a movie without hearing my neighbors. With at least five people living above us, the incessant noise has made it nearly impossible to enjoy a moment of peace or a full night of sleep since we moved here. As I said before, having rented for the past 18 years, I understand the occasional sounds from neighbors. However, the level of disturbance I'm talking about is beyond tolerable. My life quality has taken a substantial hit since moving here. Recently, a coworker asked me if I was ok on a call because I looked so tired. On good days, I am getting 4 hours of sleep using headphones to drown out the noise. My wife and I are constantly exhausted and irritable. This situation has left us feeling trapped. With this current economy we can't afford to pay the other 11 months of rent to leave this place at the moment. My performance at work has suffered already. To make matters worse, my wife and I have been diagnosed with PTSD and Complex PTSD, and this makes this environment less than ideal for us. The lack of sleep and constant disturbance exacerbate our conditions, amplifying our distress. If you value peace and quiet I would recommend you to consider another place to live. The maintenance people are EXTREMELY KIND, they always stop to say hello or ask how my day is going. Thank you to Mgt. team at Legacy on Nelson Rd. The next morning after request for leaf and debris cleanup, supervised yard workers arrived. Old trees abound here. The leaf droppings take over the common grounds. They are everywhere. In parking lot, you must step into wet piles to get to your car. This team successfully, finally, cleaned up leaves in the back lawns outside my apt. I am looking forward for this yard work to continue regularly so that this huge backup does not occur. This requires diligence and supervision. The pests seem to have been controlled for now. Mgt. will send Pest Control co. - scheduled for my apt. This is your run of the mill, multi-unit apartment complex. You know the kind: Beige buildings, each apartment with a balcony or porch, very non-descript. They have a multitude of floor plans, and, in general I loved living there...as long as I didn't need to talk to the leasing office. What really drops the rating on this place is the staff. They're often disorganized, sometimes rude, and you can count on getting gouged when you move out. Thinking you'll get your deposit back? Think again. I scrubbed and cleaned, patched walls, and did all that I could to make the place ready for the next tenant. What I got from the Legacy was a bill. Yes, not only did I not get my security deposit back, they apparently decided that I owed them money on top of the deposit they were keeping. My other fun experience with Legacy staff was this: I was offered a $200 referral fee because I referred a friend who did, in fact, move in. "Just take it off of next month's rent" they said. When I did so, it was just three days before I had an EVICTION notice on my door, demanding the missing rent or else. They got an earful, but they weren't exactly apologetic. Note that I had never missed a payment, had never been any kind of trouble to the office, or done anything at all to warrant an immediate escalation to eviction. Bottom line: You can find better. When we first signed on at Legacy, we loved it. Since, we have been here 3.5 years. Unfortunately, management has gone terribly down hill. The staff is extremely untrained and everyone will give you information differently and that proves to be wrong. When their misinformation proves to be wrong, they will do nothing to correct it because it isn't in writing. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these heartless liars. And if you live here or need to move in, do yourself a favor and only communicate through email or record every phone call with them. Dealing with maintenance issues is exhausting. They don't respond. Upon escalation, they act as if you never submitted a maintenance request and like the tenant did something wrong. Sometimes takes months to resolve an easy fix. It feels like I'm living in a David Lynch movie. Their responses to not responding are ruled by some bizarre logic. But that logic is backed up by some bizarre, well thought-out reasoning at their corporate office. For example, I brought my own (less than one year old) Bosch washer and dryer with me because I have allergies and asthma. They weren't going to allow me to use my allergen free appliances because they might leak. Then forced me to sign that I would be responsible for any leaks and hire someone from Home Advisor to hook up because they didn't trust me to do it. Then, the maintenance guy discovered a broken valve when removing the old appliances. He installed a new valve (had to cut the water line pipe) and didn't even solder it. The pipe spins. My garage door was self opening for three months and I was repeatedly told that I was operating the opener incorrectly. How does one operate a garage door opener incorrectly???? After three months they checked the wiring and cleared the codes. But, after THREE months of having an unsecured garage! Maintenance dude screaming at leasing staff that garages aren't an emergency. One of the maintenance dudes asked me for a hug one time. Now I'm dealing with a new struggle while under quarantine and at high risk for Covid19. They don't care if I get sick. Definitely a one-sided relationship. And, no loyalty. Doesn't matter if you timely pay your rent and follow community rules. They're not compelled to behave benevolently. Management does not bother themselves if your air conditioning goes out over a 90 degree weekend, despite the fact you may have expensive medication that loses efficacy for extended time periods over 77 degrees. They do not consider that you cannot simply go to uour doctor or pharmacy and ask for more. They must be lucky people who do not know what it is like to need medication. I am extremely disappointed and taken aback with my moving out experience. After a year of living here, my roommate and I had a falling out and they decided to stay here as I decided to find a new place, apparently as the whole household wasn't moving, I don't get a single cent of my security deposit back. In fact, the roommate gets to keep my money if there's still no damage done by the time they decide to move! The office offered to help my situation and come do a damage check in hopes that the roommate would pay me my fair portion -even though my lease has came to full term and the complex should've just done a walkthrough and given the fair deposit back themselves, like any other property would have- but when I tried to set up a time for someone to do the actual walk through the office continuously told me "they would call me right back" and never did. For five days in a row. I am now out $1300 and have yet to even hear back from the leasing office. Extremely unprofessional. Not much has improved since Gary P. lived here. I have been here 2 1/2 years and have seen a 12% increase in rent, but no improvements to the property other than resealing the parking lot over all of the cracks and pot holes. There have been three property managers since I have been here. I was excited to see a note on my door that garage lease rates had been reduced to $55 mo. from $65 mo. I am currently paying $75 mo., as I have been since I moved in. I went to the office to have my garage lease amended. Much to my chagrin I was informed that I will always have to pay $75 mo., because that was what I originally agreed to when I signed my first lease. Huh? Don't be fooled by the advertised amenities either. They advertise programmable thermostats, and I was told they would be installed in all units, then after signing my first lease was told only certain units have them and one would not be installed in my unit. The exercise equipment they have is in disrepair. Ellipticals are noisy and exercise bikes are missing foot straps. Spas are poorly maintained and frequently do not operate. The apartments are pretty standard, grounds are nice, and there are 2 pools + hot-tubs and a fitness center on site. Unfortunately the staff is incompetent and uncaring. They lost my application more than once and tried to blame it on me. They made themselves unavailable for the move-in walkthrough and rescheduled at the last moment 3 different times. I moved out after 6 months and they took my entire deposit for "paint touchups." Never mind that I never hung anything on the walls. TLDR; Only live here if you want to deal with the staff's crap. My experience with the Legacy Apartments Hmmmmm! Well first off their Maintance people are lazy! They do not do the job that needs to be done when there are internal problems. I had a leak in between my shower and closet in my bathroom and well the walls started to expand being that it was drywall! The wall also began to mold and the guys came in and painted over it! I had a leaking fire sprinkler heads in the ceiling that was leaking causing damage to the carpet and it took them a week to come fix it! Then shampooers came tryed to get the stain out however it did not work. The outside maintance on the side walks in the winter time was horrible I walked out with my daughter and she fell and almost cracked her head open when I called there were no sorry's and it took them a few days to even start putting salt or anything down! Then they tried to evict me by saying I was causing another resident to have asthma attacks by me smoking to close to the building no other residents were given a notice until I called and let them know that if they evicted me then they would have legal action because I was not the only smoker in that building! This apartment complex was the worst complex I have ever lived in I would never recommend it to anyone ever they are over priced their managment is a joke oh and they will itry to charge you for damages that they were to lazy to fix while you were living in the apartment. Another issue If you are one day past the 3rd of the month with giving a THIRTY DAY NOTICE THEY WILL CHARGE YOU THE ENTIRE MONTH AND THE RENT RAISES ALMOST 200$ FOR A MONTH TO MONTH RENTAL! If you want to get ripped off by an apartment complex this is the one to live at. First and foremost, it is extremely overpriced. They claim to be a non-smoking community, however my next door neighbors would smoke pot a few times a week. When I confronted the manager she simply stated that she could do nothing about this! They were also remodeling all of the apartments around me and there was constant construction noise and chemical smells that made my dog very sick when it seeped into my apartment. They were even doing construction on Thanksgiving! I hate that I even have to give this place one star because it is by far the worst place that I have ever lived at. Also the communication between the leasing office and the management was very poor. They couldn't get a simple message across that the manager was supposed to contact me. Apartment complex looks great from the outside, moving in was easy, but wait til you want to use the clubhouse or move out. They insist that you use their cleaning people. after spending over $250.00 for that service, they had the nerve to charge my $185 for paint touch up and a partial months electric and water... Moved out on 20th of August, had all utilities turned of effective the 21st. Also had 3 repairs done in the apartment when I moved in and it took 3 attempts and over 3 weeks to get it fixed. After threy fixed it, they used an old paint that was wrong color. I had to paint the wall in order for everything to match since they just couldn't get it right. stay away from this place. Initial staff were good, most of replacement staff doesn't care, I keep getting the run around to get the balance of my deposit back, took over 73 days. Always paid my rent early. left this apartment in better shape then we got it. go somewhere else. read more
