Legacy's Bretton Austin Inspected our home in December of 2019 at the request of the buyer of our home. Our home past inspection, but the inspection caused us some problems. Mr. Austin turned up our gas water heater to extreme hot to inspect it. Which is fine, but the setting was not turned back to our original setting. The high heat caused our gas valve sensor to crack, pics attached. We have called Legacy and left numerous voice mails with no response. I just wanted to be reimbursed the $160 it cost me for the replacement valve, not the labor involved. We are very disappointed with this company, they will not admit to a problem they caused. read more

Legacy Home Inspection is the best home inspection service in town. I have used several of the guys in town that do inspections and Legacy was by far the best experience I had. I needed my home inspected ASAP and Legacy was able to come over within two hours!! While I don't expect that to be the case every time, the fact that Bretton (the owner) was able to drop was he was doing and come over immediately was a huge help. We had a home inspection a couple years ago and recently found out that our heater was not up to code. The heater was leaking Carbon into the house and the fire department was called as out Fire and Carbon Monxide detactors were going off. They found several code violations that included no Gas Shutoff outside the Heater or no Main shut off for the heater to the 2 major issues. These should of been pointed out during the inspection by the Inspector from Legacy. If you decided to hire them I would have a plumber come out and check out your heater and air condtioning units as this is not their expertise. You would think he would be versed in City and State building codes. read more

From my initial call to receipt of the home inspection report, Bretton Austin, Owner/Operator of Legacy Home Inspection & Appraisal, was professional, friendly and very pleasant to deal with. We almost skipped having an inspection of the condo we were buying in Flagstaff because we knew we were going to do a lot of renovations. So, if a bathroom faucet leaked, we didn't care since it would be replaced, etc. Instead, we hired Bretton Austin and Legacy Home Inspections and Appraisals to do a full review, and we are really glad we did. Bretton found lots of very important things that we needed to know about, even if we were going to do renovations. Bretton's review was very comprehensive and full of useful information. We were able to be with him when he did the inspection, and he was very willing to explain everything he was seeing and give us lots of good advice. Also, we were amazed at how fast he produced his lengthy and detailed report, full of photos and explanations. We got it the very next day, which is important because the standard AZ real estate contract only gives you 10 days to do your inspection. HINT - in areas like Flagstaff where inspectors are really busy, try to negotiate more time for the inspection. Anyway, back to Bretton, all we can say is that he did a great job for us and we are very happy we hired him.
