Upon entering the only store in Calgary. I was greeted by friendly staff. I wanted to purchase just the little dragon. Unfortunately I had to purchase $110.00 worth of Lego, to get the little dragon free. My grandkids have a lot of Lego that they put together that they have on display around their room. So, I was unable to make the Lego purchase required. Due to I don't know what they have and don't have or want. Which was very disappointing. -clean and very organized read more

The first Lego store in Canada!! As you can imagine the place is insanely busy with ankle biters running around everywhere. From the looks of the Lego website, this store is a little smaller than most but from my experience, you will most likely find what you're looking for. The walls are lined with every Lego set you could imagine. In the middle of the floor they have various stations with activities for kids to play with the famous bricks. Also at one of the stations you can build your own mini figs (Lego men) priced at 3 for $12.99. You can choose from a large variety of heads, legs, bodies, hair/hats, and tools/accessories. The Saturday that I was in I counted about 6-8 staff. They were all very friendly and helpful and had waaaaay more patience than I ever could being stuck in that maze of crazy. The best part of the store is the wall of loose bricks at the back. We've all had that moment where we've searched and searched through the gigantic bucket of Lego for that one illusive piece. Well now if you truly can't find it, just hop over to the Lego store and buy it. The wall of bricks has different sized buckets that you can fill for a flat price. Don't forget to become a Lego VIP member. It's free. For every dollar you spend you get one point. 100 points can be redeemed for $5 off your purchase. Currently they're running a promotion for the month of October for double the points, and also you get 25 bonus points when you register your membership online. read more

What's not to love about Lego? The Lego store - Every kid and grown man's dream!!!!! Stopped in since my little guy wanted to get more Star Wars Lego. This store, doesn't matter what time of day or day of the week, is always busy. You would think they are giving it away free? The staff at this store is fantastic. Spoke with Troy for a while and he knows his stuff! My son was in awe on how cool he was and most of all, how much he knew about Lego. Lego nerds rejoice. I wish this store was just a bit bigger since it's always so busy, but they do have a great selection of Lego products! I also like that they have the pick and build and in two sizes so you can load up on all the colors and pieces of Lego you may need for that special project. Great concept. This hands on store is totally addicting. I've been a couple of times as my son is getting older and now shares his dad's obsession with lego. The addition of the Lego Friends (for girls) has the other side of the family equally intrigued. After picking up the boy's Advent Calendar for my son for Christmas (at Costco) and knowing there was a Lego Friends Advent Calendar out there (not at Costco) I knew I had to make the trek to The Lego Store and did so last month to ensure I got one before they sold out. The employees are quite friendly and helpful. Lego offers a lego rewards program which I find fabulous as I see many lego purchases in our future ;). The reason I am not giving this store a 5 is location. I have to admit I really dislike coming to Chinook Centre because the parking is horrible and it is always so time consuming driving around forever trying to find a spot. I do love the mall itself however. The announcement Chinook is expanding even though they have so many parking problems has me shaking my head and secretly hoping the Lego store relocates or I may end up doing my Lego shopping elsewhere or online. Besides this the lego store is not that big as every time I am there it is very busy & squishy...perhaps a bigger Lego store in a new location is something the Lego people should consider at contract renewal time ;) read more

Popped in here the other day to check out a few of the new units and builds that are coming out for my nephew. He is very particular. Spoke with Troy and the guy is fanatical. Super friendly, knows about all the pieces and what's going on, you can tell he truly enjoys being there which is pretty rare when you compare the rest of the mall you walk in and rarely even get greeted. I would definitely recommend popping into this place and speaking with the guys there as they are all friendly, and will help you find what your looking for whether it's for your nine year old nephew or 39 year old brother in law! read more

First off I have to say how cool it is that Calgary has the only Lego store in Canada, that may change in the future, but at least for the time being, its quite a coup for us. I went into the Lego store to have a looky loo and it was filled with all kinds of excited kids and what appeared to be equally happy adults. The back wall was particularly busy and cool. It was a light wall with rows of lego shaped niches filled with various individual lego parts. I was looking for what they had in Lego planes and was helped by a young guy who clearly knew the store inside and out. He was friendly - enthusiastic and polite. He told me that pretty well everything you could ever want to buy from lego was in the store and that the inventory mirrored what you could buy online. While I didnt buy the plane I saw ( yet) I definitely will. Lego products have been around since I was a kid and I suspect they will be for a very long time to come. Like tupperware, they are pretty much indestructible. The product encourages creativity and its a toy that adults seem to enjoy exploring with thier kids. Just a quick tip ( that you probably already know)...stepping on a lego piece in bare feet hurts like hell. :) I still love lego though, and will be back to buy my plane. read more

This place is really awesome. Tubes with a variety of spare LEGO blocks in a multitude of colours, Star Wars LEGO keychains, and a super-nerdy, super-friendly staff to serve your every LEGO need. This place is an explosion of fun. I only wish I had experience at the peak of my LEGO obsession ... But that still doesn't stop me from feeling like a kid in a ... uh ... LEGO store every time I drop in. read more

I have to give the people behind the Lego Store serious credit on their marketing design. Even the way the products are shelved have the sort of bright, colorful, staggered-like look of something built out of their own product. Everything in side (including the employees uniforms) are bright, colorful, and fun-looking. Unfortunately as an actual shopping experience, it fell pretty short. As several people before have eluded to, the store is made up almost strictly of pre-planned sets. I understand a lot of people are into that stuff, but most of the fun of Lego when I was growing up was to take a big bucket of random pieces and come up with something entirely on your own. In light of the message sent by the Lego movie, it would seem this is what the company WANTS you to think of when you use their product... and yet (while there ARE some bulk bins at the back, though what they offer is quite limited) they really seem to want to ram these pre-determined packs down your throat. Maybe they just want you to buy 50-60 of these packs until you HAVE enough pieces to create this assortment of pieces on your own, by spending 20 times what the pieces are worth on plans you might only use once or twice. Not exactly the most customer friendly arrangement. My other major issue was the selection and layout. Everything inside was categorized according to a larger theme - there's a section of Marvel and DC superhero sets, a section of ninja sets, a section of Lego movie sets, etc... but I was looking for a set that didn't belong to a larger theme (for a friend who collects related items) and spent a good half hour scouring walls of products to see if something was wedged in somewhere, to no avail (and the place was PACKED so I couldn't get the attention of a staff member either, which was frustrating)... and yet, the very set I was looking for was displayed in the stores front windows. I will always remember Lego as the big bucket of cheap plastic pieces you used to make whatever you could think up. Now it seems it's all about themed toys (no different than you'd get in any other store) that cost 2-3 times as much as they normally would for the privilege of putting it together yourself, and as cool as the weird layout and shelving system LOOKS, it's hard to navigate if you aren't looking for one of their top selling themes. read more

This business gets a star ONLY because the staff are really helpful, and one can purchase 'loose' Lego here. But as a Lego fan, I am dismayed by the fact that the store is shaped by the 'Features-and-benifits/Add-on' model of marketing. I will give no quarter on this. A Lego store should be modeled after a wholesale 'loose-product' system. I want to walk into the place and have the ability to purchase individual pieces, or set types of pieces in bulk, or high-volume low cost sets (IE a package of 100, 500, 1000, 2000 pieces). The company has advertised this option -- good luck finding these sets in the store, however. The shop space is primarily devoted to add-on constructs (IE a spaceship package, that is more fun if you buy the space-port set) or features-and-benefits sets (IE A complete killing machine which has really unique pieces that you cannot buy loose, yet cannot employ in a standard Lego-verse). Truly disappointing. I didn't think the North American angle of advertising would affect the Lego company to this extent. Sadly, this store is proof that my hopes, rationalizations, and expectations can all be dismissed with the knowledge that 'easy money' proves to be more of a deciding factor than common sense. Sigh. I will still go to the store, and recommend that you check it out as well -- It's Lego, for Universe's sake! But expect to be disappointed. read more

I would recommend this store to all. The staff are extremely helpful and good. We went into the store to buy some lego as my son had a $40 gift certificate to the store. When we went to buy it we realized his card had fell out of the cover. We asked a sales person if a card had been returned, he said no but to hang on and was going to talk to his manager. The manager came out and asked my son about the card and then told him to pick out whatever he was going to buy and to have it for free. They saved the day for us and our son:) read more
