Bethany knew how to make us feel comfortable and tell us where to go and what to do. We weren't left to just do "whatever". She art directed and shot with professionalism and a true eye for the shot. I have to say that I was extremely disappointed in our wedding photography…read more My Bridal portraits were okay, but I felt like I was rushed the entire session. However, when I got my disk of photos, they were all relatively good. There were several pictures that I was interested in from my Bridal Session, which I did not get. I ask for a disk of all of the photos, and offered to pay for it, and she told me she didn't have them. Just the ones she sent me. On our wedding day, from the minute that we arrived at our venue, she acted confused on what she was supposed to be doing. I had to ask on multiple occasions throughout the day where she was and at one point had to yell for her to get her attention. She was in and out of our wedding as quickly as she could be. We cut our reception an hour and a half short, and I paid for the extra time, which she didn't offer to refund or give a portion back. She is a highly talented photographer in many other avenues, but wedding's are definitely not her strong suit. Not once was I asked what photos were important to me, and I got 1 shot of our wedding party all together, and 1 shot of myself and my bridesmaids together. I didn't get one picture with my flower girl, my ring bearers, no family pictures of my husband and his Dad and sister, not one of my family and myself. Total we spent close to $2K and I would have preferred to spend a little more, or less, and get a total different experience. The most disappointing thing about this experience, was she was recommended by several professionals and mutual colleagues, which made me more apt to trust her ability. I went through all of her pictures online before selecting her and thought I made a good choice. I was wrong. Now all I have left from my wedding day are memories and 200 pictures, which only 3 of them were of my husband and I after our ceremony. I cried when I got our disk.

The evening light at the park was gorgeous, and you captured that classic Oklahoma golden glow while still keeping everything relaxed and natural. I loved how you incorporated the blanket you brought--it made the portraits look effortlessly cozy. When baby arrived, the in-home session was even more special. You noticed every detail: the nursery room, the crib, knowing where the pacifiers were placed lol, the quiet moments while we changed outfits or paused for a feeding. My favorite memory, though, is how we to just felt ourselves and the candid moments instead of rushing us from pose to pose, you let our little routines unfold, and somehow turned them into art. As such, I tend to be pretty repulsed by most wedding videos. All I can see is shaky tripod, superbad zooming, poorly considered lighting, weird jump cuts (we were just at the ceremony, now were dancing, I don't understand). Most of it is just so bad. FLASHBACK: Younger, more cynical JULIE rolls eyes and yawns watching an acquaintance's wedding video. I've never even thought I would want to have a wedding video done, because I dislike them so. (CUE MOURNFUL FIDDLE) Which is sad, because I think these recorded memories are the best gift you can give yourself, the best gift you can give your kids, and their kids. A film person who would choose not to document the most important day of my life. Sad.
