This place is the epitome of 5 star service. The owner is the sweetest person and always willing to help you pick out your next read. As someone who loves books, I adore discussing this and she always gives such good recommendations. The atmosphere is cozy and she is a huge supporter of the surrounding small businesses in the area. I love supporting a small business business especially one that also helps uplift others.

What an amazing place. I was visiting the area all the way from Houston, Texas when we happened upon this gem. This place is indeed a book lovers haven. So many selections of reads you just want to take them all home. The selections were plenty and the prices were within reason. However the most memorable moment was meeting the store owner. Ms. Sandra was absolutely amazing, helpful, inspiring and so down to earth. I witnessed her interaction with a young patron and it was truly what this world is missing today. Her genuine love of books shines throughout the entire establishments . . . Onto every shelf and amongst all the books. Don't miss out . . . This place is a must see.

I love this spot so much already - and I've only visited once! Decided to stop by this local(ish) bookstore in Bayonne & I couldn't have left any happier. I've known about it through IG for a while & thought now would be perfect to support a local WOC owned shop & I can't wait to come back already. The outside is super cute, it's attached to a café if you want a bite/coffee. The store itself inside is a tight fit, there were probably no more than 6 of us customer inside at any given point but their book selection is AMAZING. Once you enter, there are literally books everywhere. The shelves are on your left/right & there are 2 rooms filled to the *brim* with books. The first room has children books, YA/NA & self help books. The second room has even more children's books, mystery, fiction, fantasy, adult too. (I'm sure I'm missing out on some more books they offer, but I feel like they have a little bit of everything. And if they don't, I'm sure they can put an order in for it!) Sandra, the owner, was as sweet as she could possibly be. Both her & the other staff member (I wasn't able to catch the gentleman's name) are knowledgeable about their inventory & are eager to help. Every review prior speaks truth about Sandra though - you leave that store as if you knew her forever and it is heartwarming and exactly what this world needs. I honestly have no complaints except that we need more Sandra's & Little Boho Bookshops! I left with 4 books & I can't wait to come back and support! Please consider visiting this amazing bookstore!

What a lovely book store! Found The Little Boho Bookshop on Oprah's website and took a drive to support. This bookshop is cute cozy and filled with book, old and new titles. I found my new release along with some great overstock books that are classics and nightstand reads, they were significantly reduced ranging at $3 and up. I called in advance and went for one book but happily left with several. The owner was super sweet, cheerful and very helpful. Street parking was available and this location shares the awning with a neighboring cafe. Such a great find!

The cashier is on the main floor with escalators taking you to the basement or the 2nd floor. It's set up like most B & N's where everything is broken up into sections with very clear signage. I still love having copies of physical books once in a while.

However; the reason why I'm writing this update is because there are some changes at the store. Firstly; the large "Information Desk" at the rear of the first floor is no longer there. Instead, there's a small one on the right side of that floor (and it's almost hidden). Secondly; the huge first floor display of beautiful photo books of NYC and environs is now much smaller (although it seemed like there were more of them on the lower level than previously). There's also another change; the restrooms are now only accessible with a code, and a code can only be obtained via a receipt - so if you don't buy anything, you can't use the restroom (I ordered some books online later, since I didn't want to lug them home from the store). Further; employees don't have access to a bathroom code (obviously they have some other way to access the restrooms). I was there for a few hours - and if it wasn't for the fact that I had a dental appointment nearby afterwards, it would have been problematic. Having said that, I do realize that the restroom situation is an issue; at the Union Square store in particular, there used to be a big problem with homeless people and undoubtedly a corporate decision was made. I'm still keeping a five-star rating because of the employees and because the store has a great selection.

I can't believe I've never reviewed the Strand. I guess I haven't visited in years?! Well, I…read morecorrected that oversight last Sunday, and I still love it as much as I did when I was in college. I love bookstores, and NYC has lots of great ones. But the Strand Bookstore might be the best? It's a classic. It's the largest independent bookstore in the city, carrying 2.5 million used, new, and rare books (their tag line - "18 Miles of Books" refers to the fact that the shelf space in the store supposedly stretches over 18 miles)! Plenty of people just shop front their discount racks outside the sidewalk (where all books are $3-7) and then pop in just to pay. But the inside is incredible. More books than almost any bookstore I've ever been to. Still family-owned, over 100 years old, and with an emphasis on bookseller recommendations, it's just an excellent bookstore. When I stopped by on Sunday, I made it past about four tables and end displays - new fiction, signed books, and employee recommendations - about 50 feet into the store. I already had six books in my hands and decided I better leave quickly before I had a problem! Despite the size of the store and the number of shoppers, the line to check out was short and quick. With friendly customer service to boot. It's simply one of the best bookstores in the city. Maybe in the country, too?! Definitely check it out.

Strand Book Store is a landmark family owned bookstore famous for its "18 miles of books" and a massive inventory of over 2.5 million new, used, and rare titles. There are four floors - the first floor which is usually very busy and chaotic features a vast collection of new releases and best-sellers, and a wide variety of Strand themed merchandise The lower level is mainly non-fiction and music and travel section. The second floor has art, photography, architecture and children's books. The third floor is rare books. The store is packed with books and if you cannot find a book here it may not exist. It is easy to spend hours browsing through the aisles.
