We had been recommended to eat at Little Hunter, and were so glad we went. Delightful welcome, fascinating ambience in this restaurant created from an old warehouse by the look of it. The menu was good, and I was happy to choose the fillet steak, which I ate with very fresh chips and a creamy garlic sauce. The steak melted in my mouth and was a perfect medium rare, something not always achieved. My husband had a chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce and voted it tender and delicious. The service was pleasant, and on a night with quite a crowd, we were not ignored. This a restaurant will visit again, and maybe that time I might have room for one of their delicious sounding desserts. read more

I just visited The Little Hunter for a work dinner in a group of 7 and couldn't believe my boss had such good taste ;) from the location to the facade, the name and the PERFECT interior, I just LOVED it!!! The sky high stone walls are immensely impressive and the furnishings are on point. They have the combination of old and new just right and the impact of the atmosphere is ... energising. It felt lively but composed and if you are after a more casual feel, a little beer garden by the food truck (their kitchen) will be your corner. Now to the food... Brilliant! We came here in a group of 4. The atmosphere was really friendly and lively without being chaotic. We ordered a feast lol. I cant remember the exact names of the food so I'll just describe it. *cheesy bread - it's cheesy but kinda bland and oily for my taste * Fresh oyster- It has a fishy taste (it's expected since it's supposed to be raw *duh* lol) Just sprinkle it with vinegar/lemon and the fishy-ness will subside *Picadilly oysters (not really sure if it's called Picadilly haha)- It's oysters with bacon and Picadilly sauce (it tastes like bbq sauce). It was ok but I'm not really fond of bbq sauce so I prefer the fresh oyster. *Steak (I forgot what cut it is, I just keep eating what's in front of me lol) - We ordered medium rare steak. It's fleshy and juicy, the taste is good, and I think it's their specialty. *Moscato- This is my favorite!!! I love Moscato and I've tried cheap ones and I can tell that the one here in Little Hunter is goooood quality wine. First sip I was like "aaaaaaaah.... wonderful" hahahaha Customer service is really good. The staffs are friendly and accomodating. There's one guy who checks each table and ask how everyone's going. No wonder this place is often crowded, it's a friendly place. PS. However, just to be honest, the only thing I would only crave for in this place are the drinks, the steaks, and the friendly atmosphere. Taste wise, the cheesy bread is disappointing, the mashed potato siding is like the soggy bland type and I didnt find the Picadilly oyster appealing (but it's just me I guess). (Seriously I expected more considering the price range of the menus here) It was a nice experience, and I wont mind coming back. I had to give the Little Hunter 5 stars. I could not find one fault with their food, nor with their service, nor with anything for that matter! Tucked away in a little side street I'd have never ventured there had the place not been suggested, but boy was I glad I went. The food was absolutely superb! Flavoursome, tender, well cooked, a nice mix of flavours. The variety of choices was also there. The price is slightly on the high end (per dish say $22-$34, with $28 the average) but it was well worth it for the beautifully cooked, flavoured and well presented food. The chairs were also magnificently comfy velvet creations with wonderful decor inside the venue. On the walls were some funny quotes re food and drink, which gave patrons a giggle. The steak wasn't cooked right. When asked if the streak was suitable for being cooked rare - I was reassured it was. Well she was wrong. Chewy as. The mash was average and as far away from real truffled mash I've ever had. On top of that the sauce "Wild mushroom" taste like powder sauce. And this is not a real craft beer venue. Having 2 non mainstream beers doesn't make it craft beer. read more

The food was fantastic. The portion sizes were great no one went hungry in our group. The restaurant is nicely spaced out with plenty of space between you and another table. Service was efficient and friendly. They have a cocktail menu which is great for me. The reviews here on Yelp are quite varied, so I wasn't sure what to expect when we were invited here for dinner! The Little Hunter is tucked away on Victoria Street, which is between Hindley Street and North Terrace. From the start, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the fitout is lovely (very high ceilings, with a warehouse feel). Just one problem ... TV screens! Seriously, I would have given this place 5 stars if it wasn't for those bloody TV screens. We were unfortunate enough to have a screen above our table, with nearby bogans yelling at the football. Charming. Saying that, the meal was lovely - I ordered ribs, which were literally falling off the bone. Their wine and ale selection is outstanding. Although I had a great night here, I don't think I would come back - sports on TV are fine for daggy pubs, but not for a restaurant where the meals are an average of $29 for a main. read more

I met up here with a friend who had noticed it walking past one day. As of last night (24/04/14) they'd only been open a month and so hadn't done much advertising yet. This place is down Victoria Street out the back of the Woolshed (on Hindley St) and I think at one stage was actually the beer garden. I got there about 5:30 and had a chance to talk to Abbey behind the bar who filled me in on the setup. Anyway, to the restaurant itself... It's decorated in the Americana/Hogs Breath style of wood and galvanised iron, with a mixture of lounges, high stool tables and more conventional restaurant style seating. It's not silver service - you order your meals and drinks at the bar, but the food is really, really good and servings are quite large for a reasonable price. There is a good selection of beers on tap and from my brief glance looked like a reasonable wine list. I ordered the ribs and was served two large chargrilled beef ribs with a generous serve of vegetables and mash. The meat was tender, moist and very flavoursome, the chargrilling was crunchy but not burned and , unlike some other places, they didn't go overboard with a chiminchurry coating or anything like that - the meat was good enough on its own. My friend ordered a 350gm Scotch Fillet with chips and vegetables, and it was cooked perfectly according to his request (med-rare). We were in there early so the place wasn't packed, and we received enough attention from the staff while still being able to talk without being constantly interrupted. Summary: It's new, the food and ambience is good, the location is handy and the prices are reasonable. Give it a try while you can still get in. read more

Utterly average. I had such high hopes and was thoroughly disappointed by Little Hunter. I ordered the Sherwaygu rump ("a must for steak lovers" according to the menu) cooked Medium with mashed potato. It came out rare/medium-rare and none of the fat had been rendered. The meat itself tasted okay but wasn't anything special. The mash was bland and watery. Honestly, my husband makes much better steak and mash at home. The only saving grace is the fact that my husband enjoyed his lamb shank (although his mash was also really watery). Even the service was average. They never delivered our table water or our seeded mustard garlic bread. We also had to follow up on my husband's beer after they left it sitting on the bar for 10 minutes. Worst for us (but totally not an issue for most diners) was when we first arrived. I had booked for "two people plus a baby" and the host looked at us and then pointed at a high table with stools (not safe or practical for a baby capsule) and said unapologetically "we're fully booked and you didn't tell us there would be a baby". Now I understand that people make mistakes, but own up to it and apologise, don't try to blame me for your stuff up. The stools (or perhaps the floor) were uneven so we spent the night rocking side to side and trying to stay balanced. For a $100+ meal (just for mains) I expected a lot more. The decor was nice but everything else was really disappointing. Save yourself the hassle and just go to a pub! read more

The steak was good, can't complain about that. What I will say is the service was bad. We dined with a group of 6 people, and had to ask for our drinks order several times, to different people, and they still didn't get it right. The mains came out before the entree's and when we asked if we could reduce the entree's, they came out 10 minutes later with the full order. If it was busy, it didn't seem like it. Although as we were leaving another group of diners were also following up on their drinks order, so the bad service didn't seem to be limited to our table. There are better Steak Restaurants in Adelaide and I wouldn't recommend The Little Hunter. read more

Loving the relaxed weekday lunch atmosphere in the sunny beer garden, but I reckon that this place would get seriously mad for after work drinks and nights. Its hard to figure out what the owners are aiming for... an 'outback' style or Texan steakhouse, perhaps an neuvo arty restaurant with the Warhol frames on the walls. Great venue and the interior is amazing with its industrial look and chandeliers. We thought inside was amazing and then we found out it has a massive beer garden as well. Drinks menu was insanely good with a massive variety of beer and wine. Food was great and came out quickly. Staff were excellent and very friendly. An excellent chicken parmigiana with great chips but my companions had the Wagyu and Coorong Angus Scotch Fillet Steaks which were ordered medium rare but came out rare. The Wagyu left a pool of blood on the plate and the Scotch Fillet was unevenly cooked so varied between blue & medium. The meals looked great so it was a pity. The place has the atmosphere of a pub so was a bit noisy and the footy was showing on screens around us. Far from the worst steaks but could be better with more care in cooking since the word 'steak' is in its name. I'd have no problem stopping by for another parmi though :) read more

The restaurant had run out of oysters so we decided to order entrees with our main instead. The waiter then forgot to put through our entrees so we were brought out main first. We decided as we missed entrees we would get a round of coffees. My pregnant friend attempted to order a peppermint tea which they did not have, she then asked for a decaf coffee of which they did not have, she then asked for any tea they did have and a cappuccino for her husband. When the coffee was brought out the waitress explained that if its "crap" she'll make it again as she is "not very good at making coffee"! Brought out bread for a starter and left us without plates, cutlery or napkins. Noticed other guests were having trouble with service as well. I'll start this by saying I'm far from what you'd call snobby about steak. I've eaten my fair share of average steaks and been more than happy to chalk it up to bad luck. However, when you pay $30 for a porterhouse it better be bang on, especially when you ask for it rare. It arrived 45 minutes after ordering, at the same time as a "well done" steak for another member of the party, barely pink. The "well done" steak at the table was medium. There were barely any chips with the steak, but I have to say the steamed veg was very nice. I was visiting the city and tried to have a meal two nights in a row. Both nights i walked into a mostly empty restaurant and was told they couldn't sit one person. The first night they did, in fact, offer me a seat outside in the uncovered beer garden. It was pissing down rain. The second night, I asked if I could be seated at the bar or carry out. No to both. Also on the first night, I went to 4 additional restaurants; all of which were at least a quarter empty. All said the same, "fully booked, sorry," with that little frowny face people do when they are pretending to be empathetic. Made no sense to me. Any other place in the world would have sat me (I'm by myself, won't be waisting time chatting, and I didn't have a book in my hand) as even reserved tables will have late or no-show patrons. McDonalds and Nordburger have better service. All that hubbub for a 3 star restaurant. Arrogant and undeserving. I'm no longer friends with the person that suggested it. read more

When in Adelaide i always go to the little hunter, for my visit this week i walked in at 5.30 and booked a table for 7.00, upon returning my table had been given to a couple that did not want to sit close to the front door but i had no choice but take that table (stiff s) from there the service went downhill, had to get up and go to the bar to get my second drink, had ordered a dozen oysters natural, took 30 mins to arrive (and they were warm) steak was great, on leaving i notified the young lady that the price of oysters $24 a doz (they are still on 2 sites at $17 and $19 a dozen) was incorrect, in my book this is false advertising, she then went into a rant about we notified everyone on Saturday, whats that got to do with there advertised price. I then mentioned about my table being given to someone else and she blatantly told me i did not have a booking. The steak gets a plus but the service gets a big fat zero the young lady needs to take a lesson in customer service, i will not recommend this establishment to my friends anymore read more
