We needed to do laundry but were not about to pay over $150 for 4 sweatpants, 2 T-shirts and 2 sports bras, so we looked up a laundromat in the area of our hotel and this place popped up only 800m away. The Lonely Sock isn't just a laundromat, it's a place you can have do your laundry for you. If we had been a bit smarter about timing, we could have used this service, but we didn't mind sitting in the space and just doing the laundry ourselves. It seems to be quite a busy place and they do their commercial items in the same space you would be doing your laundry. The machines are all functional with different capacities. Paying with card is so convenient and there is regular and sensitive skin soap in the vending machine. We had to use a bigger dryer than I wanted but it only cost $1 more and I'm sure it cut down the time by at least 15 min. There wasn't the most seating ever but there were a few comfortable seats and a few stools by the window to sit at. Overall, highly recommend. read more

If your accommodation is near Southern Cross Station, this laundromat is super convenient. It was a bit of a hike for me since I was staying at the W Melbourne, but even then, totally worth it--it was only about a 15-minute walk. Having a laundromat right in the heart of the city is truly a blessing for travelers like me who want to pack light and stay frugal. And they're well equipped, with more than a dozen washing machines and dryers, so you're not standing around waiting for someone to finish their laundry. I know credit cards are accepted pretty much everywhere in Australia, so this may not sound like a big deal. But coming from Japan, where cash is still very much a thing, seeing a laundromat that accepts credit cards felt like heaven. No hunting for coins, no leftover Australian change rattling around my wallet. If you're staying around Southern Cross Station, this place is a huge help--especially if you're traveling light. read more

What a great and convenient laundromat! Less than 10 minutes away from my hotel. Super friendly staff that spoke excellent English. Lent me a basket to transfer to the dryer. Had some tables to fold your clothes on. Also some chairs and stools to hang out on with several copies of the Melbourne visitors guide book and some maps to peruse while waiting for my clothes to dry. There were plenty of washers and dryers. The employee also let me know that my cloths would fit into a smaller washer just fine. She also loaned me the key to a nearby bathroom for customers only. I went in the middle of the day and had no issues waiting for machines. Great little place right by Spencer Outlet so I shopped while I waited for the washing machine to be done. Go here if you want rude and unhelpful service. Entered on a Sunday afternoon to drop off some dry cleaning, no one was at the desk. Called the number online to see if someone could come and help but was rudely dismissed - was condescendingly told there was no staff available today because it was a Sunday, despite the facility being open that day, and that it was self service only. It's not clear how a dry clean drop off can be done self service, or why they were picking up the phone if there were no staff available. Really poor and won't be going back. read more

This place is amazing! We found ourselves short on clean clothes during our Australian holiday. I called this place the morning of a tour we were doing nearby. They have same day clean, dry, and fold service. They are super friendly and even delivered it to our hotel for $10! What fantastic service and we literally could have had only three pairs of socks washed at our hotel compared to a huge load of laundry done here. I spent a month in Australia assisting in coordinating getting firefighters from the US over to help with the fires. I was traveling a lot between Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane meeting with the fire agencies, didn't have a lot of time to keep up on laundry. Found The Lonely Sock on Yelp and after checking out their web site decided to give them a try. Super clean and organized place with very friendly staff. I dropped off my laundry and asked for them to deliver it back to my motel. Super easy process. Got back to my motel late that evening and my laundry was washed, folded and delivered to my room in a great reusable laundry bag. Everything was perfect. Couple weeks later I repeated the process and offered to buy a couple extra laundry bags. I wanted to give them to my daughters who are going to University to use in the dorms. They said no problem and totally hooked me up! I wouldn't expect something like that as complementary survive but it was totally appreciated. Both time my clothes came back smelling clean, looking fresh and folded nice. Outstanding service. If I ever make it back to Melbourne and needed laundry services I wold not hesitate to use The Lonely Sock. read more

My wife and I were traveling for a month in Australia and really needed laundry services. I hate using over-priced hotel laundry services so we were delighted to find the Lonely Sock via Google. Not only do they offer wash and fold services but they pick up and deliver to many hotels. First I called them to make sure they did pick up and delivery to our hotel and fortunately, they did. The fellow who answered said to download their app and set up the order for the next day since I had just missed the 9:30 am pickup for the current day. It worked like a charm. Fortunately, we had a laundry bag with us to stuff dirty clothes in.We left it with the concierge/front desk as requested by 9:30 am the following day. It was returned about 2 pm the same day and everything was beautifully folded. And it was relatively inexpensive, not much more than I'd spend in the US without pick up and delivery. You can't ask for more or better service or value than that. I highly recommend these folks. read more

This place was just what we needed. It's was clean....which is huge for a laundry. The machines were big and in good repair. There was a nice sitting area with reading material. A great find in Melbourne CBD. A laundromat/laundrette which is clean and bright and has high quality washing and drying machines. The best bit is that you don't even have to worry about coins. Everything is PayPass / Tap & Go which makes life easy. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is fast free internet and a spot to charge your phone. Not to mention the delicious Japanese food next door. If you're in Melbourne CBD, this is the place to do your washing. read more
