We ordered white cheddar and kettle corn and enjoyed both flavors. I like how the popcorn was light and not overly flavored. I found the mad popper via Yelp while planning my sisters baby shower. I called to ask if they could deliver 30 cone popcorns to Greensboro within 5 working days. They were so gracious and confirmed they could deliver for an approx $10 delivery fee. The popcorn arrived within 3 days and was very beautifully packaged with a ribbon tie and a little candy at the bottom of the cone. I tried the hot cocoa and funfetti popcorn and I also ordered the caramel. Both tasted fresh and were not too sweet. It's also good to know both the hot cocoa and funfetti were dairy free as some of us couldn't have dairy. They had a nice sized one with a selection of three flavors. There was a wide variety of popcorns to mix and match from. They have a traditional selection of flavors and a rotating selection of seasonal ones. The staff is very nice and excellent about explaining all that they offer and helping you find what you're looking for. It's a place I'll easily go back to for myself on more occasions or for gifts. I bookmarked this place a few days ago and tried it out yesterday. I absolutely love popcorn so I live for shops like this one. Parking was easy and I was greeted immediately upon entering by the owner. I asked if I could sample any flavors and was told I could sample them all. I shared my preference for savory flavors and got recommendations. I tried, and ended up purchasing snack bags of the Jalapeño Cheddar, Q Corn BBQ, White Cheddar and the Maple Glaze (which went well with the BBQ flavor). Each week there seems to be a featured flavor for that time period. So when I saw Dill Pickle in their reviews, I didn't realize it was just for one week. I'm sure they likely keep a high volume of what sells the most, daily. The only thing I wish was different was there being a label with popcorn name on the corresponding bag. Once I got home, I kinda forgot what I'd purchased. This also might be because I got the smallest bags but I'll definitely find out next time I go...I will be back! Oh...and since I plan to go back, the owner gave me "The Popper Card" which offers a $4 credit after 10 purchases of $4 or more. It'll be full in no time! read more

We stopped by The Mad Popper today to get some goodies for holiday gifts for people who are allergic to nuts. All the popcorn there is nut-free so the facility is safe for all levels of a nut allergy. Because of COVID, they are being very safe - the menu is on a board outside and sizes are in the window. You pick your flavors (and you can mix them which I didn't know initially) and sizes and then call them from outside. They take your payment, then bring the packaged popcorn out. Super safe, minimal contact, and the staff is really helpful and friendly over the phone just as if you were in store. We got a bag for ourself too -- of course -- and the popcorn (maple and kettle corn) was fresh, delicious, and pretty much gone on the way home. We will definitely be back and use them for more gifts in the future! read more

The first time we visited The Mad Popper, a man coming out of the shop told my husband and I to BEWARE because their popcorn is so addictive, and OH MY GOD he was right. The staff is always super friendly when we visit. We typically get either the pre-bagged kettle corn, or some fun flavored popcorn. If you go there often (which you might because, again, they're addictive), we recommend the refillable popcorn bucket for a discount each time. My favorite combo is caramel and cotton candy. I absolutely love popcorn, but I tell you I never realized how versatile it is until I discovered The Mad Popper, an adorable gourmet popcorn shop located in the Homestead Market shopping center (near Fitness World and Harris Teeter) in SoDu. They have several signature flavors that are always there--classic butter, yellow cheddar cheese, Carolina BBQ, white cheddar, caramel, the Mad Popper Blend (my fave!: the perfect mix of classic, caramel, and cheddar), sweet tea, and strawberry. Then there are the specialty flavors that rotate each week. You can give them flavor suggestions for the specialty flavors and, if they choose yours, you win a free container of that flavor. I have won twice and, if memory serves, I believe it was for peanut butter cup and Parmesan garlic. The popcorn comes in different sizes, which are referred to as baby, mama, and papa poppers. They come in bags or in tins and, if you get a tin, save it so you can get the discount for refilling it. You can pick up some popcorn for yourself, buy in bulk, or even sell it as a fundraiser. Every time you spend $10, you get a stamp on your Kernel Club Card and, once you have ten stamps, you get a free papa popper (not available in specialty chocolate flavor, not valid with any other offer). You can also order online. I signed up for their e-mail lists and get an announcement of their special flavors and a great coupon every month. This is awful, but everytime I go to Mad Popper I am delighted to discover it is still open. That is not a statement about the quality of the popcorn (awesomely delicious) or the people staffing the counter (so sweet and helpful) but the seemingly untenable business model. I guess I was underestimating the number of people like Caroline Z who consider popcorn to be a staple food... I have never used their shipping services or "flavor of the month" subscription plan but they exist if you need them. What I need is more caramel popcorn in my mouth. And for $3 I can get a "baby popper" (which is a ton of caramel popcorn). I tend to stick with the old standbys of either caramel or cheddar. Both are totally irresistible. If you think one of the other flavors looks weird, don't worry, the staff will let you sample any/all of them without any judgemental looks. I also like the specialty chocolate flavors that they offer in smaller bags. When I stopped in on saturday before 4th of July, they were offering slushies. We visited the Mad Popper a week ago and oh my goodness! I was so impressed. The flavors are delicious and not artificial tasting. The two employees there were fun and just a delight to talk to. My husband and I spent so much more time and money than we anticipated. I love local establishments. A week later at Bean traders (best coffee shop in the triangle) a lady in a mad popper shirt came in to take inventory. I asked if she was the owner of MAd Poppers and she said she was. I gave her my glowing review and she had zero interest in me and was incredibly stand off-ish. I buy local because I love meeting owners and chatting with them. This owner had no interest in her patrons and I honestly don't think I'll be back. The Mad Popper is a cute specialty dessert store selling--you guessed it--popcorn! It is decorated in a pink-and-black theme and is really cute on the outside (think all the frills of a cupcake shop). They sell a variety of flavors of coated popcorn--from fruit flavors (think strawberry, green apple, lemon) to savory flavors (think aged white cheddar) to dessert flavors (think toffee or white chocolate). Certain flavors are constant and others rotate (e.g. seasonal flavors like pumpkin or peppermint). They also sell some bags of mixed flavors that go well together. Most of the bags of popcorn have really vibrant colors and quite visually appealing. I think it would make a great gift (I try to do baskets of local products as gifts for the holidays--and this would make a nice addition to add some color and whimsy). This popcorn is seriously delicious and addictive. Unless you've been to another specialty popcorn store lately, forget everything you've ever thought about flavored popcorn (this is the complete opposite of the huge Christmas-themed tins of cheddar, butter, and caramel popcorn). I love Mad Popper! At first, I didn't understand what all the fuss was about, I mean, it is just popcorn, right? But once I finally got a chance to try some, I was hooked! We love to use MP for movie night Fridays. Favorite flavor: 1/2 rainbow variety with 1/2 cheese popcorn. Definitely a family-run business, and it shows in the pride they take in their work and the excellent flavors they create. Why 4 instead of the High Five? No matter how you shake it, it's a little expensive. I get that it's a family business, small, etc., but it's still a bit pricey. I usually like this place but I was really upset Christmas time. They posted a picture on their Instagram with a selection called 'Candy Cane' with caramel popcorn with candy cane bits drizzled with chocolate. When I went in and had my bucket filled I noticed that the candy cane bits were microscopic compared to the picture and there was no chocolate drizzle. I was upset because I wouldn't have driven up there to get that version of the candy cane flavor. They SPECIFICALLY posted a photo telling people to come try the new flavor which looked nothing like the photo. The owner/manager told me that I could come back in an hour and that was a different candy cane. I was upset because of the service. Why advertise a flavor when you know you are selling something completely different. The manager/owner didn't seem to care, I think they just want to get people in. I love this place. I worked at a movie theatre for 5 years, and I 'm still obsessed with popcorn. It's a small, local business (which I love). The woman behind the counter was so nice and friendly. She let me have a taste of the different kinds of popcorn before my purchase. They have sweet and savory flavors (carolina BBQ, sweet iced tea, strawberry, etc) and 1-2 flavors of the week. My favorite was the Mad Popper blend: caramel and cheddar kernels mixed together. It sounds weird, but it was a huge hit at the party I brought it to.
