I sat in a nail care room watching an older woman finishing up her manicure, lots of chit chat in Portuguese, for the next 10 minutes. Then after 5 more minutes, the lady who was doing the nails walked over to greet me and take me into the room. She didn't speak any English, which was going to make this challenging, but I was still game! We went inside, I explained as much as I could with simple words and hang gestures. She then started the waxing. It was excruciating (more than usual) and not very quick at all. At one point the wax wouldn't come off completely so she just rubbed it in with lots of pressure and friction, creating a kind of blood-blister-bruise. When I gestured toward it she said, "it go away tomorrow." Whenever I would say it hurt, she would say "let it go"... halfway through the wax I had really lost trust and was become more nervous. She said sorry a few times but a few times she literally just laughed at my pain and said, "let it go". It was bad. If you're a native Portuguese speaker perhaps you could have demanded a better experience for yourself, but in the case of a foreigner-vacationer-English speaker, please avoid this place.
