New Jersey Young Professionals is an AMAZING group! Looking to expand your business contacts?…read more Social circle? Dating Circle? Looking for a new job? New Employees? Any or all of these reasons are great reasons to join NJYP! NJYP is a NJ Based Networking group. Events range all over NJ from Bergen County to Monmouth county and everywhere in between. There is a little bit of something for everyone; 4 min friendling, Networking events, speed dating, hiking, singles mingles, foodie events...the list goes on and on! I have found most members to be friendly and approachable. Bottom line is everyone is at an NJYP event for the same reason you are - to get out and make friends and meet new people! Like any social group you will have an occasional character or two, but my personal experience with this group has been overwhelming positive!! Events are very reasonably priced (if not free) to attend. A majority of events will typically include some sort of drink special! Laura Occhipini does a great job of making it affordable all the way around from dues to event costs! I have been a member of NJYP for 4+ years and it has enhanced my life! I have made wonderful long lasting friendships, business contacts as well as a new career opportunity. It has truly been life changing! I am forever trying to recruit new members! If you are not a member you should definitely look into joining, don't delay do it today! You will not be sorry!

The entrance is street level with a coat room, bathrooms, and a sitting room. The staircase going upstairs is beautiful. There is also an elevator. The event spaces are similar to a parlor. The tea sandwiches and small desserts were delicious. Tea, coffee, soda and wine were also available. The third floor parlor had plenty of room for 6-7 tables. It was easy to hear the speaker. The venue is impeccably clean.

A single, small elevator--furnished with a small love-seat bench, which seemed slightly unnecessary and space-stealing for the limited number of floors housed in The Acorn Club--brought us to the second floor and its dining room. The Acorn Club's dining room is absolutely beautiful: especially the blue, damask wallpaper and the glittering chandeliers and wall sconces. The table seats and cloth napkins (both shades of dusky rose) were luxurious to the touch and the table settings were impeccable. Food-wise, the appetizer and dessert stole the show. The butternut squash soup was piping hot, creamy, and delicious--very similar to the version my mother makes for holidays. And the chocolate-and-vanilla mousse garnished with milk and white chocolate shavings was perfect (as was the almond lace cookie I may have also sampled). Meanwhile, the main course of (dry) chicken and (overdressed) salad was only so-so. Service-wise, the servers was a little surlier than you might expect in that setting, but for one of my fellow diners a polite and slightly apologetic response for putting her water glass too far to the center of the table seemed to break the ice enough to allow the server to seem less resentful. We left wondering how one becomes a member of this Club. Unfortunately the website still leaves us wondering.

As the world's leading authority on clams and clamcentric cuisine, I have had the privilege of…read moresampling a myriad of clam dishes from across the globe. However, there is one dish from one single restaurant that stands out as a culinary masterpiece - Clams Casino from Tiro A Segno. This classic dish, with its harmonius blend of flavors and textures, is a testament to the versatility and richness of clams. Before I go into the details of this most amazing dish, I need to recommend that you don't forget that this restaurant has a proper dress code. Men need to dress in a collared shirt and jacket or they will throw you out like the dog you are and send you back to Olive Garden where you belong. This restaurant has a proper four-course meal. My only disappointment that all four courses could not be their Clams Casino. The first bite of this dish is a sensory explosion. The tender, succulent clam meat, nestled in its shell, is perfectly complemented by the crisp, smoky bacon. The dish is further enhanced by the addition of bell peppers and onions that remind me of how my grandmother learned to make this dish while fleeing Mussolini nearly 80 years ago. The garlic and butter provide a rich, savory undertone while the splash of white wine adds a hint of acidity, cutting through the richness and bringing a refreshing lightness to the dish. The presentation of the Clams Casino is also a sight to behold as they are a visual feast served in their shells. I brought home a couple of the empty shells to make Christmas ornaments to help me remember the greatest plate of food that I ever consumed. In conclusion, Clams Casino is a dish that truly celebrates the humble clam and the glorious heritage of Italy. If this plate of Clams Casino existed in 1492, Christopher Columbus would've had no reason to cross the ocean. They also let you shoot guns in the basement.
