My husband and I have been on the hunt for an upscale bar in the area. The Maplewood is classy with a contemporary feel. The bartender made our drinks (an old fashioned and a French 75) with ease and was just the right amount attentive. He showed us around before we left which was really nice. This is probably the nicest cocktail bar in WF, excellent ambiance and nice staff. They make a mean mai Thai. Came by on a Thursday night and it was quiet but not dead. Will definitely come back again and try a few more drinks off the menu. Nice coasters and straws would complete the vibe of an upscale bar. read more

After finishing an exam that felt like a final, I decided to stop by this hidden gem for a nice, refreshing cocktail. I'm disappointed that I forgot my bartenders name but his was the sweetest gent! My girlfriends and I could all say that we enjoyed our cocktails. I decided to get my signature appletini with Belvedere vodka. It was sweet with a kick of course. Maplewood is one of the only bars in Wichita Falls that bans indoor smoking. Stepping inside it's almost like being in a real city somewhere else, maybe New York or California, where bars are classy and trendy. They have a full bar and prices are on the high end for Wichita Falls but nothing unaffordable by normal city standards. It's definitely a more well-heeled crowd and classier crowd overall, older as well. This is my go-to bar for all online dating rendezvous and despite being a bit out of the way for my house, it's the perfect venue for a good drink and chat session. read more

Uptown Wichita Falls! Cool sophisticated atmosphere with appropriate dim lighting. They are mixing some proper cocktails here albeit on the pricey side and a bit diluted for my taste. Clientele is either spillover from Salt & Pepper or well healed youngens attracted by the upscale atmosphere. The music is modern groovy and very fitting. Very very top of the line cocktail bar in our own Wichita Falls! The prices are as high as New York City but the service and atmosphere is excellent and I guess it just makes it for a nice special occasion type place. I have been here three times now, excellent experience every time. Have tried a few cocktails from the menu as well as the French Cosmo off the menu I enjoyed. They do appetizers from gypsy kit every other Wednesday from 6-7, great items. The other Wednesdays' apps supplied by stone oven pizza. Outstanding trip! Love it, the only reason it don't give 5 stars is the prices. Steep even for a couple of DINKs. read more

Worst experience ever! First off the bartender already had a bad attitude. Didn't say hi, how's it going or anything just pushed the drink menu towards me. I asked him if they had liquid marijuana and he says" umm i don't even know what that is." ive never heard of any bartender not knowing what that is. So i asked him "what drinks do you have that have malibu in them?" so instead of him making suggestions he says" um yaaa we have malibu" i didn't appreciate his condescending tone and out of all the bartenders I've ever delt with he was by far the least friendly. As far as the atmosphere the bar was ok but a bit small and there was a really small crowd. We were there on a holiday weekend but overall NEVER going there again. Ill stick with whiskeyta. Wandered in to this bar a few days ago (Friday) tp enjoy a few drinks after a long week. It was the atmosphere that I saw in the reviews..and exactly as I thought. It's upscale for Wichita. So, as I was enjoying my drinks, I believe my waiter was interviewing a prospective bartender- I was the only one in at about 5:15p, so my service tended to be slow when I wanted another drink. The only other nuisance though was this couple that came in with a call on a LOUD speaker phone! So rude? Like, who does that? No one cares about your personal call?! So, after the call ends..I'm like yes, back to enjoying this playlist and my drinks..but, no! They took another call playing loudly on their speaker phone. upscale bar, not always upscale people. Ha. I wanted to leave, but good thing they left before me- as another couple had walked in and had to sit in their secluded couches area (partially presumably) to get away from the rude guests. Absolutely fell in love with this place the moment I walked in. Beautiful design, the sweetest bartender, and the owner is a total sweetheart! Plus they have snacks on the bar which I adore. This was a bar with a pleasant atmosphere and good lighting. The upscale tone was nice, but the sports playing on the big screen televisions didn't quite fit with the rest of the atmosphere. The chex mix provided was quite tasty, though a tad spicy. The waitstaff was very friendly when we ordered our first round of drinks from the pricey menu. My Shirley Temple inspired cocktail tasted cough syrupy, but my friend's drink was good. When we ordered our second round of drinks as cheaper than our first, our server's attitude changed dramatically. He ordered a top shelf tequila and soda, which was served flat and obviously not the tequila he ordered. I had to ask twice for a water refill, and or server seemed to disappear. We decided to leave and go elsewhere once the service changed so much when we changed the price point of the drinks we ordered. It could be a very good bar to go with friends and enjoy, and perhaps our server just had an off night once we changed our drinks, but it was a tad off-putting. She walked up after our first round and said, "let me guess, you want to cash out." We had no intention of cashing out, but we certainly didn't stay long after our second round was less enjoyable than the first. Not your typical Wichita Falls bar. The atmosphere was incredible as soon as we walked in I felt like we were in Dallas. The service was spectacular, the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The prices on the cocktails were a bit high but you truly get what you're paying for. I had an old fashioned it was probably the best one I've ever had. The cocktails ranged from classic to new and exotic. My wife and I will certainly be back and we highly recommend it to anyone who wants something out of the ordinary. read more
