I was here for my yearly visit a few weeks ago...it was a very diverse crowd ...there was almost 100 people...like it was1997 again :) The owner may have been behind the dj booth.wearing a do rag...not sure what era I stepped in..i e getting selection from YouTube or whatever....i asked him to play "walk this way " aerosmith run dmc version. He played it. "Welcome to the jungle" bingo. I took note of the crowd being diverse mainly from South or central America and asked him to play some Santana. He says no lol...on my next visit I will terrorize everyone with Santana on the juke box. I also asked for a diet coke and one of the luminaries behind the bar poured me a real coke...just to make sure im not feeling things that are not there I asked my friend to drink it and he said that is for sure real coke. Luminary gent behind bar assured me oh this is diet coke when it was not. I mean it's not like I will find myself at St Francis at the er because I had a real coke. If I could give this place no stars I would, but this place is one of the worse bars in Chicago. Don't be fooled just because its one of the few bars that close at 4AM. Trust me, you're better stocking up your fridge at home and end your night there then go to this place. When I went, the place was packed but we got a seat at the bar. The black curly haired bartender woman asked me what we want and I ordered one modelo and one pbr. She tells me $20 and i look at her and I'm like that's so much and she's like well that's price. Being my first time and stupid i hand over the money. I add tip on top of that, big mistake. I tell my boyfriend and he was confused too since a modelo and a pbr shouldn't be more than 5 bucks each. We ask the people around me and they confirmed our suspicions. We asked the second bartender how much a modelo and pbr are and she's like 5 and 4. We tell her the other lady charged us 20 and she's like that's doesn't make sense. The black haired bartender was like that's not true, she basically was trying to say I told her to keep the change returned the money and proceeded to call me a borrachita (drunkard). Moral of the story watch out for this place. If you are new and don't know better they will over charge you for your drinks.This place steals from customers who are probably drunk and won't know any better until they see their bank accounts next morning. The only reason to roll to the deuce is that its after hours. Today, they close at 4am, but I do remember a time when it was 5am. Free Foosball, arcade golf, one pool table avail if you can win it. Put your D.L on hold to grab a dart board for your group, about 7 boards available. Late nights can be crowded. Surprisingly so can karaoke night. They changed their servers recently, younger and cuter. If you notice many familiar faces its because alot of the people from Mullen's come here. Same ownership. Really good people. Host an open bar party for a minimal cost. Deuce is your late night answer to, "I don't want to go home yet" " I haven't flirted enough.." "I need more alcohol" Its never just one age group. All kinds of people found. Food? I know you can order a full round frozen pizza. Its like, Jewel brand or Tostino's, its $5 or $10. Mark II would be a nice place if it had windows. And they monitored how many people come in the establishment. It feels very closed up, very clostaphobic. They allow way too many people in and it feels very sardine in a can like type of a situation. Pool tables are in very tight quarters. As well as dart boards and not in very good condition. First of all, I am extremely disappointed in the Evanston/Roger's Park Yelp members for giving this place a lower rating than The Keg. On here I am giving it the same rating, but let me be clear: it IS a step up, as I would have given the Keg 0 stars if possible. This place deserves a solid 1. The negative reviews are understandable because the Mark 2 Lounge is definitely a shit hole. However, the Mark 2 Lounge will always hold a special place in my heart, especially after spending at least 2 nights/week here during my 4 years at NU! My friends and I used to joke that we put the owner's (Tony) kids through college based on the amount of alcohol we consumed in this bar. I wouldn't necessarily spend an event at the Mark 2 Lounge now, but I am very jealous of all NU students who are still young enough to frequent "the deuce". read more

Mark II Lounge run by the owners of Mullen's down the street is one of my favorite places to play darts in the city. Locals affectionately call it "The Deuce" and its open til 4am on any weeknight. The owners are extremely personable and will help you get started in any dart league. The bar features five dart boards on mounted on two different walls, a pool table, and jukebox. People are extremely friendly and attracts a diverse blend of Rogers Park locals. Saturday nights are karaoke til about midnight so be aware of possible karaoke crowd. The bar also orders pizzas and gives away slices to feed your midnight drunk appetite. read more

My experience of this place seems to be very different from those of other reviewers. This is most likely because I go to the Mark II a) on weeknights and b) before 10 pm. The bar is much nicer on the inside than on the outside. It has some decent stained glass windows and comfortable seating. I go here to chat with the regulars, watch some football on Mondays, and throw darts. I don't think I've ever seen a college kid here. The staff is friendly and so are the regulars. They are the kind of people who will never let you buy your own drink. Plus, pretzel sticks at the bar and darts are only a buck-fifty for as long as you want to play. Thanks, Kate P., for warning others... It never occurred to me to review this G.A. place. We only ventured into this bad experience because we had a under-grad (21! Really!)) aged niece visiting from rural Wisconsin. Even she hated it and commented on people who "wore too much make-up and smelled like too much of Daddy's money." I'm quite sure I wouldn't have hung out here, even when I did attend NU, before I transferred to NYU. To be honest, I would have preferred to stand outside in the rain waiting for a bus than have mingled in that place. This place got me through Northwestern. Thursday night's at the Deuce were the highlight of my week. You can't beat free pizza and free PBR's. I don't know if I would have a good time if it wasn't packed with people I know, but this place really gets kicking on Thursday night's. After years of driving by this place, I finally walked in. At 3:30 am on a Saturday night. I was happy to discover it stays open till 5 am on Sat. If you get hungry, you can order food at the bar. It will be prepared at the owner's restaurant across the street and brought over. I didn't have any food, but the restaurant, Mullins, has been around a long time, so it must not suck too bad. Darts, a couple pool tables, TVs, a couple arcade games in the corner - its your typical neighborhood bar. Based on the photos, it sure doesn't look anything like it did back then Many a night we'd patronize the Candlelite while we grabbed a bite to eat and then drift over to the Mark II. Since it was a 4 o'clock bar (5 on Sat night), it was a popular place to wind up a long night. Ok, so as an NU undergrad, I give this place 3 stars...and that's from what I remember of it as a freshman and sophomore. Guidelines for enjoying "The Deuce": 1. Be a freshman 2. Wear anything you want b/c you can literally wear a ripped t-shirt or be decked out 3. Be WASTED 4. Make sure you know frat guys or sorority girls, or you will be hangin out with the skeezes by the pool table or dart board. Though I cannot stomach it anymore (probably b/c I don't get black out drunk too often anymore), you best believe I still know PLENTY of greeks who make the trek here every week to get PLASTERED and flirt with one another and the freshman. They end up letting half the world in to make money, and the music is Eddie Money (Take me home tonight) meets Missy (Party People). I mean if you're wasted, come here for a night cap? Like every one's already said, this is a late late night bar. I'm originally from San Fracisco where once it hits 2am it's time to go. The first time i went there it was a tuesday. A couple of us we're tring to find out what to do on a weeknight and checked this place out. One of the girls we were with knew about the place so we decided to go check it out. There were a good amount of people for a tuesday and decided to stay and play a game of pool and shoot some darts. It was getting later and later and more and more people were starting to show up. I was like wtf, and my friend told me it was open until 4am. Frist bar i've been to that was open that late so it gets a four star.
