I'm very biased as my husband owns this school. But I can say I have a lot of fun, always have:) So does he. He's a man who loves his job!

However, I can tell you that my son loves it. He is focused and engaged for the entire lesson and retains what he is learning. The staff members are extremely friendly and helpful. What I love the most so far is that respect is expected, discipline is required, the students are to do their best. The instructors will hold firm to the manner in which things are done. If the student is wrong in form or discipline then correction will follow. The student will correct himself and then there is always a smile and a good job or some kind of encouragement to the student. I see more jovial smiles in the two days that I am here a week than I do collectively during the rest of the week. In this manner the student is learning correctly in a positive and encouraging environment. I truly believe that the Brnich ' s have the students best interest at heart. I pass several other karate studios to take my son to this academy. I feel that the quality of skills and the character of the instructors are well worth the drive.

I then read the entire description and at the very bottom found a line: "Women order one size smaller." I brought this up and was told, and I quote directly, "They are true to size if a man wore them. These are men sized shoes. Since your a women you would be one size smaller." It's a man's world, ladies, and if I were you, I would take my business elsewhere. I got stuck with a 20% restocking fee because they can't correctly disclose their sizing, rather jamming in a disclaimer where you have to click "read more" to see it, and I still don't have the shoes I need. Will certainly be looking elsewhere. Overall, this was a simple problem that could have been easily resolved without berating me about item descriptions and restocking fees. Customer service was unnecessarily rude, and I just don't have time to deal with businesses like that, and you probably don't either.

I can't speak highly enough about how amazing Garaguso is…read more Last year, we were searching for activities for our daughter. She was still a little too young to join a sports team. We knew she would take ice skating lessons but that was not enough. Enter GCMA. I happened to be driving down Haddon Ave when I noticed a sign offered a free trial class for kids. This was perfect, as we were not ready to commit to something out daughter might not like. So, we signed her up for the trial class. She was meek, quiet, and in need of exercise. Garaguso offered the opportunity to help with all of these things. Being a creature of habit and craver of structure, martial arts training turned out to be something she absolutely loved right off the bat. She's grown confident, came out of her shell, and is fully capable of defending herself. Moreover, Garaguso teaches the kids Korean, life lessons, and respect. They have a word of the month for each class, the kids things like honesty and respect. Today, they taught the kids a safe procedure of what to do if you get separated from your parents and the concept of a "safe stranger". Second only to Goddard School, Garaguso is easily the best investment we have made in our child's personal development.

After…read moresearching the local area for karate studios for our then 5 year old boy, we pretty much threw in the towel because we just didn't click in any studios with what we thought our son needed. We wanted owners that actually train themselves and hold current credentials, a staff to support those ideals and not only teach technique but also life lessons, and last but not least self discipline/self defense. My Mom works in Haddonfield and in Dec 2013 decided to purchase a promotional package to get our oldest son's feet wet into the martial arts subculture. When she went to the studio she was greeted by a young attentive gentleman who is a 2nd degree black belt himself and owns/runs the operation. She could feel it was a good match! Our son started a week or two later and that was basically the beginning of this path. He started as a super ninja and was exposed to all different techniques and lessons while also doing some fun activities at the end of every class! It helps that he actually is a "natural" which we have to thank not only my Mom but also the instructors for noticing it and also nurturing it. He is currently in solid color belts, the leadership program and STORM team. STORM is an amazing concept to endorse the color belts to take their training a step further and help the younger "ninjas" hone in on their training as on-site role models. This husband/wife team has really taken this studio to another level in this last calendar year. Mrs. Huver , having experience being a First grade teacher, joined the school full-time in the beginning of the summer. She just added a woman's point of view and assisted in tightening up the scheduling and planning. More programs have been added, they periodically hold special events/parties and demos, and they work together on the Dojo which is a great example of support for the children to experience. The decor in the waiting area is constantly changing and keeping everyone's interest. They have this awesome FULL WALL CHALKBOARD that they draw graphics to grab the children's attention but also convey all the information needed (belt testing dates, upcoming events, etc) We have recently started our 3 year old and he loves it too! Our two sons actually train at home together which is a great bonding experience for them. While my lil ninja is on the mat, his older brother is the STORM assistant which is everything a parent could dream of. Watching our two boys grow and learn together is amazing but having them be apart of an amazing studio with a great sense of community is priceless. We feel so lucky to be apart of the GCMA family!

As an adult, it is very hard to find high crowd karate training in the United States. Many dojos are geared heavily towards children as their target market and this leads to a sort of watering down of the material. Not here. This place teaches traditional Okinawan Goju. It does not teach anything else which is another rarity among American dojo. There's no arnise there's no BJJ. They don't even really do Kobudo on occasionally using the bow. It's just karate the way they teach it in Okinawa. It passes a very simple test if you Google Morio Higaonno Goju, you will find several documentaries on this dojo's Okinawan counterpart. You will see we use the same equipment and techniques and Dojo as the Okinawan dojo does. You get the same exact experience you would get over there except you don't have to learn Japanese with an Okinawan dialect. Sensei Crespo's loyalty to the traditions of this ancient art is truly commendable. It's also a great deal economically. Training of similar quality can easily run you over $150 in another dojo. This place is just 80 a month. They run a three month special where you also get a uniform. The workout can be up to two hours long. You start off with the kids classes to warm up and then you do more advanced contact heavy exercises in the adult class. They meet three days a week. I've tried a lot of of dojo's in the area and there really isn't a better deal than that. The adult class is very small and within very little time you will know everyone there. It's a very welcoming family like atmosphere. After a few months, I can honestly say I feel at home here. Going here is often the highlight of my week. At first, it may seem difficult. Many of our stances utilize muscle groups that the average person does not exercise, but if you stick with it, you will get stronger you will lose weight and you will learn how to move. You will also learn one of the oldest and most respected forms of karate in the world. So whether you want to learn self-defense, lose weight or find an activity for your kids that will allow them to learn about another culture and burn off energy this is the place to be. The only thing missing is YOU.

"Woohoo! As good as it gets!" ~ Yelp's 5-Star Rating…read more I think it speaks volumes that this place has a 5-star rating for all its reviews. I bought a 10-class groupon because the gym is close to my work, and I am so happy I did. I had tried kickboxing at other places, but this is 100x better than other classes I had tried. Rob is the instructor for cardio kickboxing and he is always super positive AND easy on the eyes! He really motivates you to work hard and get a good workout, even when I'm tired and really would rather be home. I really like that you actually learn the mechanics of kickboxing in a cardio class, other classes I've been to teach no footwork or how to punch/kick. I feel like I could be an MMA fighter now, after only a few classes - that may be a pipe dream, but I'm still really enjoying myself. This is my first Yelp review, but I think it's a worthy cause to get the word out about this establishment.

I facebooked them and they answered the next (since it was a holiday). They were really nice, courteous, and helpful. They even called my husband the next day and went over everything with him. Excited to start going here!
