You see, in a fraction of a second on someone's Youtube video about Farmington, I had spotted a doll cabinet... and within a 1930s Jaymar "Orphan Annie and Sandy" duo... And if anyone knows anything about me... it's that I'm an Annie fanatic... and my collection of vintage Annie dolls is expansive... but was missing this particular Jaymar duo... The owner of What the Junk, the lovely, friendly, immensely knowledgable June, offered her support as soon as I walked in... but I'm superstitious a little-- I have to "spot my find" by myself... ha! Once spotted, we had an extraordinary discussion, and it was very clear that June is a true doll collector-- and get this... she can also restring dolls as well! (Oh, if only she lived closer to me!) I suspect that is just ONE of her talents, she radiates wisdom and respect for history and treasures! Her store is an artful, eclectic delight of vintage collectibles, and it oozes with love from her big heart and delightful smile. Farmington is LUCKY to have a gem such as this-- in both store and in June! P.S. FULL DISCLOSURE: I was in town as my dog was playing "Sandy" in the local production of Annie... after having such a good time talking to June, I invited her and her lovely husband as my comp tickets to the show-- and I'm soo glad they came-- what a thrill! Very disappointed!…read more Took my stained glass to Wall-art 3/16/2022 for "professional" framing; It is a special memorial piece for a dear friend who lost her mother. I was assured by Kassidy that she would do justice to my piece and that it would take about 1 1/2 weeks to complete. I called 3/28 and was told by Kassidy that she was still waiting for my frame. On 4/5/2022 I again called to inquire about my piece and was told the "frame was out for delivery but her driver had covid and wouldn't let anyone else deliver for him" (really?). She then told me that she had another frame very similar to the frame I had ordered and that they could build me a frame from the "extra material" and she'd install it as we had discussed. I agreed to that because she assured me it was in fact close to what I had initially ordered. I received the piece 4/7 and noted several issues immediately. #1 The colors on the front and the back were drastically different from each other (initially we had discussed her staining the back of the frame and that she'd "get as close as she could" in color to the front...clearly they are nowhere close to matching, see pics). #2 There is a broken edge to a posterior corner of the frame. #3 The silicone to secure the piece into the frame was very poorly and unprofessionally done (an attempt at smoothing the bead of clearly visible silicone would have been nice). I think the pictures taken speak for themselves...hardly worthy of the $210+ charged for the "professional" frame and installation. When I called to discuss the issues I was at first assured all would be made right. After taking the piece back and waiting 2 weeks with ZERO contact, today I was told that they could do nothing to rectify the situation. No refund, "it's a custom frame" (mind you this is NOT the frame I initially ordered). As the issue was pressed they did say they could remove my glass piece, "clean it up" (remove silicone), they could then order MY frame, the one I initially wanted.....but wait, I was told it was "out for delivery and their driver had covid" (so where is that frame?), and then they would give me that frame and my piece and I could install it myself........ Well, if you want something done right.....you either do it yourself OR you take your business elsewhere and get it done RIGHT! Which is EXACTLY what I'll do in the future!
