Our year at The Mays School truly changed our family's life. My 5-year-old son was struggling in public Pre-K--he had trouble following directions, often disrupted class, and found it difficult to make friends. We were worried and didn't know where to turn. From day one, Ms. Jessi and the entire staff were incredible. They worked patiently with him while also equipping us with valuable resources and guidance to support him at home. I especially appreciate that The Mays School brings excellent therapists directly onto campus, so my son received consistent help without the stress of driving to multiple appointments. Ms. Jessi's deep knowledge of neurodiversity has been invaluable. She not only helped my son thrive during his time at The Mays School, but also guided us in finding the right next school to continue his growth. Because of the care, patience, and expertise of The Mays School, my son has made tremendous progress both socially and emotionally. The below review u in's my opinion and my personal experience. I am protected in Texas by the Slap Law. This school bullies people to take down reviews. The owner is currently doing so to silence me at this very moment. That's why they have nothing but 5 stars. In my opinion, the owner is unstable and encourages a cult like toxic environment. What they don't want you to know is the school is not accredited and is not Montessori. They are not associated with Montessori in any shape or form. They claim to be inspired by Montessori. In my opinion, not a lot of learning happens here, let alone Montessori inspired teaching. To give you an example, my daughter was writing letters in sand at an age where she should have started learning phonetics and started reading. Once I figured out that she wasn't learning anything I quickly started looking for a new preschool. In the meantime my daughter was being spit on daily by another child. I addressed this with the teacher many times with no avail. I told the mother of the child and because of that my child was expelled. Yes, that was my offense. In the time it took me to go get my child (this was the middle of the day when they expelled my 4 year old) they treated her so horrifically that she developed panic attacks. It took months for her to recover mentally. I know of other people who have had similar experiences. The cult like environment is so intense that they bully anyone who leaves the school or writes anything negative about this school. I would not recommend anyone to attend this school. read more

I did a parking lot book fair at this school with Usborne Books & More. It was so easy to work with Ms. Jessi and the parents loved buying books for their kids and benefiting the school. This tell me that the parents are very happy at the school because I work with lots of schools and allot of times this is not the case. This also tells me that this school values the things I believe in- like reading and limited technology. I believe your child would be very happy at Mays! read more

The directors are totally devoted, thoughtful, and responsive, always looking to improve the school for staff, children, and parents alike. The teachers legitimately love and nurture the children, and I love the Reggio Emilia approach to learning through play and exploration. We love Mays! From Day 1, we've had such a great experience. Our child has been attending since he was 5 months old. He loves going to school, which gives us such peace of mind. The curriculum is fantastic and the facilities are so nice and clean. The classroom extends outdoors to the large, covered sensory playground, which is a bonus. I knew this was an amazing school just from reading the website and talking with Jesse briefly and I agree 100% with their educational philosophy. I'm over the moon now that my 14 months and 3 year old are there and enjoying hands-on developmentally appropriate experiences. I am very grateful to have found the Mays School last fall for our toddler son and highly recommend others to the school. We moved to Houston during the summer and struggled to find a trusted daycare that worked with our busy work schedules. Our son is also a vegetarian so the organic vegetarian menu option is much appreciated. On top of the great hours and food, the best thing about the school is the people at the school and the Reggio curriculum (did not know what it was when I started but am now a Reggio-parent for life!). My interactions with the teachers and staff have been fantastic--- they clearly love their work and demonstrate great patience with both parents and children. The other families at the school are also open and caring-- two of the parents in our homeroom put on a wonderful Lunar celebration for the Chinese New Year earlier this month. Overall, if you want your child to have a safe, loving environment with great people surrounding them, then Mays is the place to be! read more

My Country Clubhouse has been a true blessing for my family. After researching many preschools, we were lucky to find a spot at MCC when my daughter was only 8 months old. She is now 2, and we couldn't be happier with the care she is receiving. Our daughter thrives at MCC. We take no credit for all she is learning. MCC's incredible director Jessi, passionate teachers, and specialized curriculum reaches every child and allows the students to thrive and grow, no matter what age or level. Their enrichment classes are a real treat, as the kids are exposed to a variety of classes, from Spanish, Yoga, Art, and Music classes. On another note, their daily menu, which includes breakfast, lunch, and three possible snack times is made up exclusively of organic all natural foods. Their in house cook is wonderful! Our two little girls have been at My Country Clubhouse since they were infants and they both absolutely love it. The teachers there are amazing! They care for each student as if they were their own. Our 3 year old is now in their pre-school class and she is learning so much. We are always amazed by the things she tells us that she has learned. As new parents, we had a difficult time finding a great day care for our kids. Luckily we found My Country Clubhouse through a referral from the Bellaire Young Mothers group. It is such a comforting feeling to be able to drop off our precious children to a place where we know and trust they will be in great hands. My daughter did not have the opportunity to attend this school, but honestly, I wish she could've. Every time I've called or visited the people have been pleasant and accommodating. We have a situation where my daughter's school shut down suddenly and we were left scrambling and stressed. The director assisted us in every way possible until we were able to secure a place. My daughter went here until I changed jobs and had to work on the other side of the city. It really upset me to have to move her. I love this place. They have all kinds of cool safety features in place for the kids, and I love the keypad entry on the front door. I felt like my daughter's teachers were really caring, and they knew about her as a person. They were concerned about each child as an individual. They taught her the abc's, her numbers, her colors, and all of her shapes. She always talked about her teachers and friends at home, too. Since she was just starting to talk, this was a big deal! My two-year-old son has been attending My Country Clubhouse for almost a year now. When researching and visiting schools in the Southwest Houston area, my teacher husband and I found that My Country Clubhouse clearly stood out from the rest. It also helped that I found a friend of a friend whose children have been going there for years and had nothing but great things to say about the school. My son absolutely loves going to school every day...in fact, he asked to go to school this past Saturday! My son is extremely active. My Country Clubhouse provides him the structure that he needs to hone that energy. They have great enrichment classes - including Stretch & Grow, Music Together, Arts Alive, and Spanish - that are included in tuition. My son is a very picky eater, but it turns out that he loves the nutritious food at My Country Clubhouse (still working on eating veggies)! My son, husband and I all love his teachers. What I also love about this school is that teachers in other classes know my son by name and say hi to him. I ask the teachers and Jessi for advice on my son because they give me so many great tips, and we also have parent-teacher conferences to discuss overall progress. My Country Clubhouse ("MCC") is owned and operated by Linda Weise, and her daughter, Jessi Weise. Linda opened MCC in October 2012, and we followed her to MCC from another early childcare center in Bellaire, where she had previously served as the Director for five years. Linda, Jessi, and the teachers and staff at MCC are amazing. I have four children, ranging in ages from 2-8, and the quality of care and education they provide for our children is unmatched in the area. The teachers genuinely care about the children and their love for the children shows. My children are happy and thriving at MCC, which is what I believe every parent hopes for their child. MCC offers a structured age-appropriate curriculum for each classroom, and each child receives individual assistance and attention. Children learn essential language, reading, and writing skills, as well as learn about art and music. Infants through preschoolers participate in weekly Stretch-N-Grow classes, which are fun motor development classes which the children love. Dance classes are also offered on property once per week. At sign out each day, an electronic copy of your child's daily report is emailed directly to you and includes your child's meals, snacks, naps, bathroom/diaper changes, classroom activities, and notes from your child's teacher. Preschoolers attend field trips once per month, which my four-year-old son is thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to be a "big kid," and ride in one of the MCC vans. Preschool field trips this year have included the Houston Zoo, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Miller Outdoor Theater, Bellaire Fire Station, and Menil Art Museum, to name a few. I am not aware of any other programs in the area which offer monthly field trips for their preschoolers. Summer fun at MCC includes splash days once per week, where infants through school-age children enjoy sprinkler water play on the MCC playground. If you have school-age children, they will not want to miss MCC's Summer Art Camp. The camp is packed full of activities each day, including art instruction, painting, music, theater, cooking, science, creative writing, and playground time. The summer campers swim at Evergreen Pool in Bellaire once per week, have two other weekly field trips, participate in Stretch-N-Grow classes, and enjoy splash days each week. Field trips this past Summer included Moody Gardens, Health Museum, Downtown Aquarium, Dog Show, Space Center Houston, Main St. Theater, The Mad Potter, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Houston Zoo, and several more. MCC has many great events throughout the year as well, including Fall Carnival, bi-monthly family meet and greet dinners, Summer Pizza Party and Art Exhibit, book fairs, and monthly Friday Night Date Night or Fun Saturday Program.
