In November 2024, after meeting in person, I discussed a strategy with Jesse Caldwell. I made the first payment, and a letter was supposedly sent to Gastonia Home Improvement LLC--though I was never given confirmation that it actually was. Two weeks later, Jesse requested additional evidence such as videos and photos, which I provided immediately. Despite my repeated attempts to follow up, I received no meaningful updates from the firm for months. Then, in May of this year, I received only a voicemail stating that the firm had discovered a conflict of interest and could no longer pursue my case. At no point during those many months did anyone mention that a conflict of interest was even a possibility. As a result, I went from being a client to what feels like just a donor--one payment, no progress, and no resolution.

Eric Meredith will bleed you dry and leave you without any meaningful work product to show. At best.....1 star! High cost, low results, zero value! If you hire Eric, don't expect communication or results. I heard from JM billing on average 3x more often than my legal team. After over eight years of paying Eric to handle my divorce/custody/equitable distribution, I find myself in a worse position and out nearly $100,000 in empty legal fees. A great example is a 2021 court order requiring my former spouse to pay me $175,000 and return all my personal property within a very finite amount of time (I believe 45 days). It is now 2026 and I still have not received the court-ordered money or a single item of personal property. Eric has refused multiple times to pursue enforcement of the order or file for contempt on the 2021 order. Eric and his team often refuse to react to opposing counsel's blatant disregard of active court orders or will react only after several client requests. And even then, they do so half-heartedly and extremely slow. They certainly could never be accused of being proactive. Eric was supposed to handle arbitration and has billed handsomely for it, but after more than four years of failing to get anything scheduled, I had to take it upon myself to contact the appropriate professionals and get this scheduled without cooperation from Eric or his team. Another example of having been billed thousands for Eric to "handle" this with no results. I hired Eric to handle custody for me and my position has actually gotten progressively worse with Eric's involvement. Mark Jetton and his team have proven more effective on assisting with family and custody issues than Eric and his family law team. Despite thousands of dollars in fees to Eric, I have less access to my children and I've had to personally work to fully facilitate the reunification process with my children without cooperation from Eric or his team. Again, all this despite thousands and thousands of dollars in billing to handle and facilitate reunification. Again, there is little to no work product supporting all those thousands of dollars and years of billings from the family law side of the business. Eric and his team have refused me access to my file or provide copies of motions, judgements or court proceedings. They get extremely defensive when I asked for status updates, pertinent correspondences or any type of work product showing progress. They have refused on several occasions to provide any "evidence" to support billings. It is my experience that Eric is extremely secretive and conducts himself professionally in a manner unbecoming and jeopardizes the reputation of JM daily. Those in the inner circle question his work ethic, effectiveness and ability and willingness to fight for his clients. Eric lacks empathy or any sense of urgency for his clients. He is extremely focused on billable hours and doing "just enough to not get fired!" Not exactly the mindset you want dor someone controlling a portion of your financial future and access to your children. Eric has proven to be extremely disappointing and ineffective. Conversely, the criminal law side led by Mark Jetton is responsive, efficient and results oriented. Worth every penny for actual results. Mark is dependable and offers true value.

I told her specifically that I didn't want an attorney who wasted my time. After I paid my $5,000 retainer in April 2025 it was crickets. After 2 weeks I emailed saying ummmm, next steps??? The next day she wrote me telling me that it was on her to do list to do a motion and that I'd have it by end of week. I didn't have it by then. She e-mailed a draft on 04/30. She told me she couldn't finalize motion until she got my original SC order, which was identical to our NC order that she already had possession of. Then she set up a drop box for me to deposit information into. I deposited it and again two weeks later reached out to ask them whats up. She never responded and 4 days later I followed up, then emailed Jon Knode & Kate Rech to keep them aware of my dissatisfaction. They both reiterated that they had no way of knowing if I had uploaded documents into dropbox. I'm like well, did anyone check? I then let them no I no longer wished to be a client. They tried to charge me an additional $1,156.50 telling me that I owed $2,000 as a true retainer when I first came on board. ARE YOU FREAKING kidding me? I've legit had 2 e-mails with Alaina and nothing to use towards my legal case. RUN FAR FROM THIS FIRM.

On September 12, 2024, I retained my attorney, Christine W. Rosenhauer from Rech Law, to represent…read moreme in an emergency custody case filed by my ex-husband to remove my child from my care. On September 22, 2024, under extreme stress, I mistakenly provided my attorney with an incorrect contact number for my ex-husband. On October 2, 2024, I sent my attorney an email correcting the phone numbers and requested that my attorney verify the numbers before taking any further action. My attorney responded, assuring me, "I want to double-check the numbers that I have". The subpoena for phone records that was submitted by my attorney incorrectly listed my phone number versus the opposing parties phone number. On October 10, 2024, my attorney forwarded a subpoena to AT&T with the incorrect number, resulting in my personal call records being sent directly to opposing party including me as a CC recipient without verifying the accuracy of the information or consulting me beforehand. This included my personal phone number and private call history. Such negligence led to a serious breach of my privacy, exposing my personal information and leaving me in a compromised and vulnerable position. September 23, 2024, I had my first subpoena hearing regarding my child. My attorney, Christine W. Rosenhauer, repeatedly instructed me not to bring my child with me to the hearing. My attorney confirmed this multiple times over the phone, even calling me during the week to emphasize that I should not bring my child. However, on the day of the hearing, the judge requested to see my child, which resulted in the hearing being continued to October 4. This delay caused me additional and unnecessary expenses. On October 4, 2024, the rescheduled hearing day, my attorney did not request my witnesses to testify, nor did she present any of the messages she had requested as evidence to the judge. despite confirming to me multiple times, in front of the witness, that there was no way my ex-husband could win or take my child from me. After consulting with several other attorneys, I learned that my attorney should have advised me on the negative impact the actions taken by my child would have against my case leading up to the hearing. These actions include but not limited to; running away, skipping classes, and damage to the home. This was never presented to me. Leading up to the hearing I asked on multiple occasions what would happen if we lost the hearing. Each time I was advised that there was no way my ex-husband could win or take my child from me. " I have all the evidence messages and emails" This lack of guidance and transparency left me unprepared for the hearing and put me at a disadvantage in my case. Unfortunately, I lost temporary custody, and my attorney charged me approximately $7,700.
