I'm not sure where to start in sharing just how much I appreciate the owners, pharmacists, and support staff at this Medicine Shoppe on Thompson Blvd. as I have been getting my prescriptions filled here for somewhere around 30 years now (Since well before they moved to the Thompson location). They have always treated me warmly and they've always gone above and beyond to make sure all of my prescriptions are filled and delivered professionally & timely. While there may have been a few prescriptions they were not able to fill over the years - due to strict insurance guidelines, or various costs set between them and their suppliers, for the most part they get things filled timely and they do things right. I think as humans sometimes we forget to acknowledge others when they are actually doing a great job or providing a trusted service to the community. In reading through some of the reviews on here I see that people often lash out or are quick to complain when things are not perfect- which is truly sad, because we are all human and none of us are perfect. We have all made mistakes occasionally been constrained in our abilities to do our best by the reams of red tape or bureaucracy. I can't help but wonder if some of the negative reviews are because of whatever is going on in our own lives- as we all have our stuff to deal with and it's so hard to do it or go through it -all alone. All I can offer here for the negative posters - is this: I wish you each well going forward through the many challenges of your lives- I do indeed understand and sympathize with the weight those individual challenges can present, and how they can hinder the pursuit or realization of any positivity or happiness. It is my hope for each of you that each day will bring you at least one thing to be happy, positive, or excited for, so that anger and negativity won't consume every thought. I know things are difficult when having to get a prescription- because dealing with Medical stuff always sucks! But please remember humanity depends on each of us to be kind to one another and sometimes circumstances are just beyond anyone's control. In closing, I just wanted to take this time to say: This Medicine Shoppe is and has been absolutely awesome! (even when circumstances didn't allow them to fill certain prescriptions) and I truly appreciate the way they have always gone above and beyond to secure and deliver the many medicines that I've counted on to keep my Lupus and it's various complications under control. Went to medicine shop today for the first time & had the WORST experience ever! We simply asked about using the good RX card for a possible discount as the amount of the prescriptions were over $150 & to say the Woman was rude would be a huge understatement!She responded by saying they wouldn't make any money on the prescriptions with that. She went to the back office & continued to rant about it where she could clearly be heard in the front lobby area. Another woman attempted to help but our business was obviously not wanted. We immediately switched the prescriptions to Vons pharmacy who was happy to help & use the good RX card as well. We just couldn't believe how poor the customer service was at this pharmacy. Neighborhood pharmacy, not part of a big store, just walk in and get your prescription filled at the desk. It is always busy, but easy to call in for a refill so all you have to do is pick it up, no waiting. Most employees have been here for years, and greet my mother like a long lost friend when she hasn't been in for awhile. All my dealings have gone smoothly over the years as well. read more

Not happy. For me when you're dealing with a business, somebody that you actually depend on for something, one terrible incident might lead to you taking your business elsewhere. That's not what happened here. It was several bad incidents that weren't enough by themselves to warrant a crappy review but when you take it as a body of what turned out to be in my opinion incidents, then at some point enough is enough, you take your business elsewhere. And you let other people know because it could end up happening to them. I first started doing business with medicine shop late last year and I was impressed with their family orientated operation that seemed to have a particular strength when it came to matters of attention to detail, and dealing with the patient. At one point I was highly impressed with this outfit. But it was things that happened along the way that changed that. I saw that they did deliveries and I inquired about it and the lady that I always talk to, marcy, who's a very nice woman I'd call her sweetheart, she took down the information but then the next day I got a call saying that they were only going to do it this one time because the address that I gave them was not a house. Hard for me to get them a house for an address when I am homeless. But I gave them the address of a local pizza place that I was always hanging out in front of and I would have been fine to meet them there to get mine prescription but arbitrarily the owner, who I'm assuming her name is Jill, decided that it was not stable enough of a location for their driver. I didn't see the sensibility of this and it also affect me negatively because I've no longer sleeping over by where this Pharmacy is located but I'm still trying to give them business because so far except for this, they're pretty cool. But something happened and I realized that I needed either for them to deliver it or to switch pharmacies. I waited till a Saturday to get something filled that was completely empty and then found out by calling them that they are closed on the weekend. Just put me in a really bad position and I had to go to the ER at VCMC just for a basic blood pressure medication. At this point I decided to switch Pharmacy, which turned into a total disaster. A disaster that was the fault 100% of Medicine shoppe. I gave them Specific Instructions to transfer my prescriptions to the Vons on Telephone Road. They instead transferred it to the Vons on Telegraph Road. This causing me a lot of issues and Vons was not really wanting to work with me to get this resolved because it was sent to a different Pharmacy and their policy was not to send it to another one prior to it being filled that they needed a new prescription that was just their particular policy and it put me in a bad position although I understood where Vons was coming from, so I had them faxed the prescriptions back to medicine shop because I needed them at that moment. At first lady at Medicine Shoppe Jennifer tried to tell me that they could not do this. I then politely pointed out how this was not my fault and that they should do what was necessary to make it right. At that point Jill stepped in and filled the prescriptions. I said okay let's just try to work this out where I keep coming here. This worked out for a little while but then last month when I went to call in my prescriptions Jennifer started grilling me about the timing of them being filled as it was a few days early. But none of these were narcotic medications none of these were controlled medications at any type. There was no need for technician at the pharmacy to be questioning a customer on something that doesn't involve a control medication or something that addictive. I was very unhappy with this and at this point I said, next time something happens that's the end of it I'm taking my business elsewhere. The following month, which was today, I called in my prescriptions. I'm actually going on vacation tomorrow with my gf. Anyway I left my bag in the waiting area because I wanted to walk over to Vons and I don't like going in the Vons with my bags because people stare at me. Think about it, if you knew a business that you gave thousands of dollars in business too over the last year, you wouldn't think anything of leaving a bag in there waiting area. Also I should mention that they never had an issue with me leaving my stuff there before. Suddenly, Jill snapped at me saying that this was her covid vaccination area and that I was not free to leave my stuff wherever I felt like it. I said to her that that didn't sound right, and she immediately responded for me to not argue or otherwise I could just stop going there. In my head, in that moment, that ended the business relationship. Once I become shamed and threatened in a single sequence, I'm good. read more

This is a local family run business and you can tell that by how caring the staff is and how efficient it runs. I've never had a problem getting a prescription filled and everyone is very nice and personable. Jill and Carlos are great! read more

Nice people but the waits are not good and their hours of business are terrible, honestly. I tried so hard to shop here for medicine but just kept running into wall when they were closed before I went to work and closed when I got back home. I moved my business to CVS off Ashwood, perfect. Takes one mintue for them to pull my order and they are open like 7am to 7pm. Bingo! read more

Rude hostile pharmacist approached me to tell me how she is losing money from my insurance company on the medicine for my child so she will not fill that prescription for my child again. She acted like she was doing me a favor. I'll gladly take my business elsewhere. read more

Most pharmacy's make you wait ages for your prescription, even if you've called it in ahead of time, the medicine shoppe is always prompt, your prescription is ready when you arrive. If you didn't call ahead its ready in 5 minutes not 45. They also work with you on insurance issues, more than once I've had surprise charges due to items not being covered and they've offered suggestions on how to reduce the cost by working with my doctors and or insurance. Always polite, always a good value, switch your prescriptions today, you'll be glad you did. read more

This pharmacy has been here a long time but was recently bought out by Jill and Carlos, two of its pharmacists. They are knowledgeable, pleasant and efficient. Everyone in the store is helpful and polite. They take great care of their customers. read more

Quoted my doctor's phone call $20. Upon pick-up $38 (hmmm).... Slight increase! Only had part of quanity ...ok understandable. Picked up remainder next day, different brand and was told this was cheaper. Ok fine but I still paid the same amount !? read more

I can't say enough positive things about the Medicine Shoppe! I've been coming here for a few years for all of my prescriptions. They have the best staff- very personal, friendly & quick service. I'm usually In and out of there within 5 minutes (if the RX is calling in/ready) or as little as 15 minutes if you are filling a prescription and waiting for it. Always a pleasant experience & I highly recommend everyone to use them!! read more

Very good staff, very helpful. I had a lot of health changes recently, and many times had problems communicating with my health insurance to find out what is covered and what isn't. This staff helped me to find generic versions of my prescriptions and saved me a lot of money. Pharmacist nice, and always takes time to help me learn about my medicine. Highly recommend better than Target and CVS. read more

I cannot give this pharmacy a low enough rating. The pharmacist is rude. The staff is incompetent. Their prices are more expensive than any other pharmacy in town. Unfortunately 3 years ago my insurance changed, it is an exceedingly bad insurance and the only pharmacy in town that would take it was Medicine Shoppe so I was stuck using them. Luckily a new pharmacy now takes my insurance and I can switch pharmacies. But to give you an idea, I have 10 prescriptions that I fill every month, I have only had 2 of them change in over 15 years. And Medicine Shoppe was not able to complete a single refill request in 3 years without getting it wrong. The same order every month and every month it was wrong. I never had to make less than 2 trips and usually had to make at least 3 trips down there every month to get my refills correct. Even if I called ahead, they would confirm all my refills were ready over the phone but once I would get there at least one or more were not ready, had to be "ordered", or forgot to request refill authorization from doctor. And it should be noted that I always gave at LEAST 3 days notice on my refills just so they would have time to request refills from doctor. Even with all that, not once in 3 years did they get an order correct. Lastly, many times they would simply lie straight to my face saying they requested refills and the doctor never responded. I caught them at this by standing at the counter, the girl said that she just sent the request to the doctor and I took out my phone and asked the doctor if the request arrived. They said no, I walked back in and told the girl behind the counter and had to sit there and physically watch them send it. Every time I had to request a refill from the doctor I had to do this. I had to stand there while they sent the request otherwise they never would. I never had this problem with Rite Aid. I used Rite Aid for more than a decade and only once did they not have a refill ready for me and that was due to a break-in the day before and my prescription was stolen. 10 years and every order was right with Rite Aid and 3 years with Medicine Shoppe and not one correct order. I really wish I could go back but I have no choice with my insurance. Bottom line AVOID Medicine Shoppe at all costs. read more
