I was looking for activities in Sedona (besides hiking) and found this place. I was interested as it would be something new. I booked an appointment online, which requires a deposit that would go toward the final price. While waiting for class to start, I walked around and admired the glass pieces. There was a small group of us- five. Even though it says it's a two-hour class, it's only about 20 minutes per person. We took turns making our glass piece. Our instructor Austin made it effortless and we all had fun. I went back the next day to pick up my piece. My flower turned out great! read more

5 of us (3 adults, 1 teen and 1 tween) took a 2-hour Beginner Glassblowing class the other day and we had the best time. Our instructor was owner/glass artist, Jordan Ford. I can't say enough good things about Jordan. He's a rare teacher who can immediately connect with everyone; gauge our various comfort levels and dazzle us with his expertise. Because of this hands on class, I'll never look at functional or art glass the same way...I actually have an understanding of how it was created. read more

This place is a beautiful, creative space. I attended a 2 hour glass blowing introduction. Jordan was the artist tasked with teaching us basics and assisting our own creativity. There are options available other than the flower I myself made. I am NOT "naturally" artistic or even coordinated (think bull in a china shop!!!) Jordan made it fun, interesting, and I managed to produce a pretty piece It's an experience that taught me, challenged me, and made me appreciate skilled glass artists' work. A memory that was well worth my time and money (worth more than I paid). Book now!!!! If hands on isn't for you (but I'd highly recommend it!!) take a bit to stop in and enjoy some of the unique, beautiful pieces on display- you may find one to take home. Ok we blew it. We didn't read the website in detail and misunderstood the pricing. Unfortunately, our vacation budget was maxed out so we called to cancel the day of our class. A friend and I scheduled a session with the melting point to make a cactus. Jordan was very informative, knowledgeable, and helped us make our creation. What I loved was we actually got to hands-on create the item with the very technical steps being handled by Jordan. Although not an inexpensive experience, I would definitely do it again and make something else. Let me start off by saying I've come here twice and each time I've had a killer experience! The staff is incredible, they are super knowledgeable in glass blowing techniques/color schemes. So far, I've made a flower and a cactus, and my boyfriend made a bowl. I've also bought jewelry from their local artists! We did the bead making experience which was an hour and I booked thru Viator. We all wanted more time when our hour was up because we were having so much fun. Great activity for a small group or on your own. Alexa and Doug were incredible instructors who helped a ton technically and were very artistically encouraging. What a great experience!!! My husband and I had never done anything like this before. We took the 2 hour glass blowing/sculpting class and made a pumpkin and a flower. Jordan was our instructor and was fantastic. I was thinking that my "masterpiece creation" might come out very amateurish; however not to worry. Oh my gosh, our family of three had a great time learning about the glass blowing process and we cannot wait to pick up our cooled finished projects. From start to finish, Chris, assisted by Alexa Rose, made our evening educational, fun and confident building as we do not have natural artistic abilities. We all chose different projects: cactus/ paper weight/ sucky bowl. While they had a variety of steps in common they also had their own additional unique steps to finish. We come to Sedona often and mostly hike and enjoy the restaurants. It was about time to participate in the local arts scene. What do you do in Sedona besides drink and hike? A cousin of mine decided we should try working glass like the local artists. We booked a party of four at The Melting Point, and yesterday we had the studio to ourselves. Chris had the furnaces and tools ready before we arrived, and started with a safety lecture and a demonstration of how a piece would be made. Then he gave each of us a personal tutorial session, guiding us through making our own glassware to our own specifications. He explained how he was blowing the glass, and made sure we each felt in control while he stepped us through the process. At the end of the afternoon we each had a work of art of our own making cooling in the oven. I took a few minutes to look through the gallery and appreciate the artwork that the crew produces. Some of it is very immpressive, and I am glad they have someone as patient and skilled at teaching as Chris to guarantee we became successful artists ourselves. Our artwork looked beautiful the next day when we picked it up after the cooling period. We have been advised to hand wash the pieces, they are not dishwasher safe, but we will treat them with care and pride for a long time. read more

My experience at The Melting Point was fantastic! I kept driving by this place while on vacation in Sedona and I'm so glad I finally made the stop. This store offers a variety of beautiful glass pieces, I purchased a glass mushroom pendant. When we arrived, Austin told us about how they offer glass blowing classes where you can make your very own glass masterpiece with the help of an experienced instructor. The class ahead of us (family of four) came out with huge smiles, talking about how much fun they had. I get it. It was easy to check in. The young man at the counter was so friendly. While we waited for our session to begin, we browsed at some of the amazing pieces done by artists and then a table with pieces done by other customers. Our instructor, Chris, was awesome! He's all about safety. He explained the basics, explained safety without making you wonder if this was a good decision, and got us going. He gives great instruction, patiently helps and guides you in the process (there are parts you will not be doing, obviously, and in order to get a good finished product you need his help), and is a great energy to be around.
