After reading the reviews on Yelp, I was excited to try out The Men's Chair, and hopefully establish it as my new go-to for haircuts around town. Unfortunately, my experience did not live up to the hype. I scheduled my appointment online- this is a great feature that was easy and quick to use. I didn't realize that this was not its own standalone building, so after my GPS took me to the address and I didn't see the business, I called to get directions, but nobody answered the phone. I finally found it. The sign on the window said that they were closed (they weren't). When I walked into the room, Holly was folding towels on the couch and looked up at me with a frown. I explained that I was here for a 10:00 haircut and apologized for being late. She told me to go ahead and sit on the chair. Almost all of the conversation during the haircut was instigated by me, and it could be described as stilted at best. My haircut was decent, but not great. To be fair, I didn't give her much to go on in terms of how I liked it, but in the past my barbresses have been able to make my hair look good. Overall, it was a 2.5/5 haircut with a 2/5 for atomosphere and friendliness, all for $30. read more

A small two seat shop located in the Phenix Salon, the two ladies working there where very friendly and welcoming. The issues I had were with price, quality, and technique. I made the mistake of not asking the price prior, $60 for shaving my head with electric razor and trimming up beard is a little expensive. Second my disappointment was my barber only used electric shavers as opposed to a razor, that's why you go to a barber is the shave portion!! Third multiple time I had say you missed a spot here, you missed a spot there, I finally got tired of pointing things out and just said thank you and left. Once I got home I had to finish fading in my beard myself. Also threw me for a loop at place called the men's chair and the employees where discussing their menstrual cycles. Very nice staff just not what i want from a barber in price or performance. read more

Tucked away inside the Phenix Salon Studios building. I've been attempting to find a stylist that I can count on. Kristin did a great job, but I'm thankful we had a much deeper discussion before the cut actually began. I said short, she said a trimmer blade four! I said, "I used to shave my head so short isn't an issue!" Kristen went from a four to a two setting! Thank goodness! It's a small shop. (Two chairs) So you need not bring any tagalongs, they won't have much room for an extended period of time. read more

I called at 2pm on a Saturday needing a quick trim before a wedding later that evening. The receptionist was friendly and was able to coordinate an opening for me between two appointments. She offered me a beverage (coke, beer or whiskey) during my very brief wait. Holly, my stylist, did an outstanding job cutting and styling my hair, and I was in an out rather quickly, without feeling rushed thru the chair. The Men's Chair was a great find. I highly recommend making an appointment to get the full service cut and shave. Allison Drake (owner/barber) did a great job in hiring Holly and establishing a friendly atmosphere for gentlemen to get a quality service. I went and got a haircut at the one on healthy way and before I got it cut I showed her a picture and told her some more specific things on how to cut it but once I finished it looked nothing like the picture. And the picture I showed her was a picture of myself after a haircut. The fact I spent 50 dollars for it makes me mad. read more

You get everything from hand wax dip, hand massage, straight razor shave all the way to neck massage, facial, hair cut and more! Leave feeling like a new man! Cool little place! It is located in the Publix shopping center at the Phoenix salon building. Holly was terrific! First thing they did when I walk through the door was offer me a drink or a beer. I found this place for my S.O. and the first two times went well; the cut did. The woman cutting seemed off and barely held any conversation or smiled, unless you were paying. This time, we both requested for a certain beard trim, explaining over and over that we wanted to keep the length, but just clean up the sides from not sticking out too far. Instead, my man was left with a short beard, extreme stubble under his neck and a crappy job overall. Not only did she not listen to our request to keep the length, she took two inches off the length and left stubble that looks dirty and unkept. Now the process of regrowing the beard will take months. Other than the atmosphere, I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Kinda stared at me until i told them I had an appt. holly came in and very little conversation. Definitely didn't have the "consultation" that was listed on their site.
