They do serve food here and I've had better pub food and I think the burger is the best thing here. My last visit here was right before a Carnival Ball and it was VERY crowded but they still kept up with taking care of everybody. They often have live music and Irish music on Sundays. Overall I'm very motivated to return here and I have been sampling more of their food menu and enjoying some live music.

There's a game room that's still being updated and an expansive back courtyard area that has two tvs and a blackstone grill! If you know anything about the previous location, the new spot will keep up with feeding the patrons while they enjoy libations! You've got to make it to the new location! The Listening Room is truly for LISTENING. For a small donation of $20 you are allowed to listen to artists perform in a intimate venue. Prior to the concert, the owner Jim Pennington, informs you of the rules. To paraphrase Jim, "If you want to talk, drink and be rude, go down the street to a bar." I ADORE this concept of "no talking" while someone is performing. How often have you been to a venue where you couldn't hear the performer due to all the background noise? NOT happening here! Jim is the consummate host, selling assorted beverages and CD's of the performer with proceeds going to the artist. I highly recommend this venue to anyone in the Mobile or surrounding area. I do not live locally, only visiting once a year, but TLR has become a "must do" for our trips to Alabama.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but the feeling of the listening room was so unique and intimate- I loved it! The artist was a local star, but I knew nothing about him. Every song he played was so personal and wonderful. The crowd was respectful and everyone had their phones away during there concert. I was told that the Listening Room is special in this way, because people go there to listen- not to talk or stare at their phones. The set was almost 2 hours, but it felt much shorter due to the small and intimate space the music was being played in. I seriously loved going to a show at the Listening Room and I'd love to go back if I'm ever in Mobile!

The Sea Hut has been a Saraland staple for as long as I can remember. It's that local place you go…read morewhere you always see someone you know. It's not thuggish or too divey, with a fair number of regulars who are their every weekend. It offers a full bar, a couple of pool tables, no food, a small dance floor, and the Cowboy does a fine job with karaoke on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. If you are a smoker you will love it, if not be warned- leave your coat in the car unless you want to wash it tomorrow. The bartenders are friendly but you'll have to go to the bar for your drinks. Smoke aside, it's a good little local place to meet friends and have some fun.

Then, three minutes later, a manager comes out and says "People say you are weird. Stop being weird or leave." I did nothing but order a drink and sit down. It's a nasty space, full of creepy Stephen King character types. I felt threatened and unsafe. It's about the most unwelcoming place I've ever visited in the U.S. The space is also dingy and gross, and I was charged $16 for a single shot drink. (Maybe in New York, but in Mobile?) AVOID THIS PLACE unless you want to be treated rudely, get threatened, and basically thrown out. Any of the gay bars in New Orleans or Pensacola are both more fun and more welcoming.
